Just bought 150mm tellis. I ride in very muddy conditions. I clean stanchion after every ride and ad a little amount of mucoff silicon shine. Should i do something else maintenance? Tellis works great, best dropper post!
stumpe mtb right on! The Tellis has a main seal which does an excellent job of keeping things out, but if you’re riding in very muddy conditions the majority of the time then you might want to do a basic seal and bushing clean. You can unthread the collar (you may need a strap wrench) and once removed you can remove the bushing by hand, give it a quick clean and add some new suspension grease. This will ensure it stays butter smooth and clean! Thank you for choosing SDG and glad you’re stoked on your Tellis!
I've just placed my order for the 150m tellis, and within like 6 hours of placing my order, BOOM it was shipped and two days later it's almost here. Excellent service shipping wise, I cannot wait to mount this bad boy on my Commencal. My only question, which suspension lube does SDG recommend? Thanks guys!
Michael Fabian right on! We usually recommend a lighter grease for the rebuilds such as Slikoleum or Slick Honey. If you live in an area with a high level of precipitation, then we'd recommend increasing the frequency of the 120hr service if using the lighter weight grease. They'll make the post actuation even softer, but since it's lightweight grease it'll break down more frequently especially in wet conditions. Since the process for cleaning and regreasing is so quick, we always go with a light grease for the smoothest actuation possible. If you have any more questions please let us know!
Cool thanks for the suggestion. I run Rockshox front and rear on my full sus, and I always use Sram Butter Grease for the stanchions. I imagine that would be just fine for my SDG dropper as well correct?
Whoops, totally missed this. Sorry! Yes, SRAM Butter is perfectly fine. It's actually what I use on my personal posts, so you'll be good to go with it. Thanks and hope your post is treating you well!
Glad to hear you're loving your Tellis post! There's only a couple of things it could be, but all are super easy to fix. Would you be able to send a message to support@sdgcomponents.com and our tech manager can quickly address and amend the rattle for you?
Sorry for the delay here, but we use a light degreaser to get the old grease off. For grease, we suggest using Slickoleum, SRAM Butter or any lightweight suspension grease to rebuild the post. If you're riding in more wet conditions then we recommend unthreading the collar, wiping it clean and adding more grease every 10-15 hours. It's a super quick 5 minute job, but definitely will help0 extend the lifespan and performance of the post.
So easy there is no reason to not do this maintenance more often just to be on the safe side. Alos, I love my SDG Tellis!
Right on! Glad you find the service as easy as we designed it to be and that you're loving your Tellis!
Love this dropper, super easy to maintenance
