      I am in the middle of making this blanket and I am at row 42 and this seems kind of big. What are the dimensions of the blanket when I get to row 96? I was wondering if I could start doing the border when I thought the blanket was big enough - what do you think?

      I was thinking the same thing! On my first day of chemo last month, my nurse gave me a quilt, handmade by the Quilters Guild in our area. I never cried when I was diagnosed, or when they said I had to have chemo. But I definitely cried when she handed me that quilt! It meant more to me than you could ever imagine! I've made many baby quilts for family & friends, I've crocheted stuff for them. I've given lots away just because. But this quilt given to me is special. I will treasure it always!🥰

      Sherri Fennel, you have a heart of gold! ❤ You are serving God when you serve others. You have touched my heart to do the same. I can include the instructions on how to care for the item. And Tiffany, you are an angel for wanting to help that low income county. Leslie Barrett, I had breast cancer surgery this past September. I am blessed to not need chemo. I will try and do something for the cancer patients at our cancer center where I see my oncologist. Such a ripple effect when people like you three ladies do an act of love for others. ❤❤❤ God bless y’all so much! ❤

    Just finished a lovely blanket for the newborn and much too early son of my collegue. He kept his parents and everyone quite in a fright since he arrived at 31 weeks. But little Morris pulled througj so well. I, as just a collegue from his dad, so at quite a distance from all the fuzz and worry, wanted to do something positive with the energy and ordered some lovely blue-toned cottons and taught myself how to crochet with this great tutorial. Thank you so much for the clear explanation, well filmed shots that made it so easy to follow every step. I’m happy with the result, and very much into learning more. Morris is home from the hospital now, and my blanket is ready just in time. Hope to see the little man soon and hand over my present to his mum and dad.

      I am an educator of teachers of small children and babies retired. For years, our information was that colors particularly multi colors were stimulating for babies and small children. However, more recent studies have shown that high contrast, black and white is the most stimulating for babies. This is why mobiles that hang above cribs are shown in black and white.

    • @nanonana46
      @nanonana46 Год назад

      My personal preference, however, is soft pale colors, and I would never use black-and-white for a baby blanket.

    • @chaliceguard4575
      @chaliceguard4575 Год назад

      @@nanonana46 - Yes! B&W is very stimulating for babies. That is why I chose to decorate my son's nursery with a fabric pattern that was white with black polka dots and accents of bright colors (his musical crib mobile had colorful dinosaurs that hung below a B&W canopy).
      I also made sure he had lots of stimulating and relaxing music that babies and children love -- primarily fun childrens folk music and classical selections. (Music is also very important for babies/children and their development! I taught my little son phonics when he started asking me what things were written on objects and signs he saw. He was reading at the age of 3. As soon as he could manipulate a mouse (the type that has a rollerball on top for small children), I provided him with fun computer games that taught him reading and math concepts.
      My son was a very gifted student throughout his school education (graduated summa cum laude from his high school IB program with AP Honors, and was offered an academic college scholarship at a major university. He earned a degree in industrial engineering and is now a successful industrial/quality engineer in a biomedical company. (Can you tell I'm a proud momma? 😆😅🤣 )
      Well, I hope my suggestions will encourage others with ideas for stimulating their babies/grandbabies' development. So much fun to watch the little ones learn and grow! 😊🧑‍🎓❤

    Tiffany, could you go up to a 5.5 for the border to keep it from curling? Is there a 5.25?
    This is really simple and elegant.

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  2 года назад +1

      Hi Midge! Yes, I think that is a great idea to go up to a 5.50mm crochet hook for the border. Loosen it up a bit. I don't believe there is a 5.25mm. If you run into the border starting to ruffle know that the stitches are now too loose or to big for the space and play with it a little. If you do give this a try and can I would love for you to send me a picture of how it turns out! Either in my Private Facebook Group "I'm Hooked For Hope" OR email me at info@crochetwithTiffany.com.

    Tiffany I made mine with a lovely pale pink cotton,. Firstly it's got wider as I go and secondly my edges are wobbly. What did I do wrong? Thx

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  Год назад

      Hi Deborah, Hmm, I might double check your stitch count to see if you accidentally added some stitches to your rows. That is generally the cause of blankets getting wider. If you have the same stitch count it might just be the weight of the cotton yarn pulling. The Wobbly edges are usually caused from having a tight crochet stitch tension. You can fix that by either Blocking your blanket OR going back and working the edge with a looser stitch. I hope this helps! 😊❤️🧶
