Thank you very inspirational video I always love the Acuras I love the Acura Legend but I never had the privilege of owning one I purchased a 2006 Acura RL with 100 and 1,000 MI. Paid $7,000 car was in Immaculate shape other than the body spent $1,700 on the body work everything's working perfectly looking forward to 400,000 miles
I brought my 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD in 2013 with 100,000 miles for $17,000 now i am at 193,100 miles other than a slightly oil leak no other problems, hoping to hit 200,000 sometimes this year.
Yes, im shocked too. Even the original alternator. Heck that radiator lasted 280k miles and the only reason it broke was when I was adding the coolent , when I opened the radiator cap the plastic part on radiator just cracked and was rendered useless. Lol
My Buick is two years older than your RL but about half the miles and still has the same starter, alternator, engine and transmission. Got a new radiator and heater core In April, 2018 other than regular maintenances like tires, brakes, oil changes etc. Although I'm at the car wash almost every week during the winter months due to salt here in Orange County NY.
Looking to pick up an 06-08 RL, what are some of the common issues i should be aware of for this car... i had an TL for 5 years and then went to Infiniti and regret it.... lol should have stayed with Honda Acura.
Hmm!...I own an 07 tech, RL's are tanks...so there's not much that go wrong with em'. Just stay on top of the maintenance (timing belt @105k, oil, trans, transfer case, rear differential, spark plugs, rear main seal) you'll be fine!
Common issues include worn leather on front door arm rests, center console arm rest and a silly putty glove box door. Seat weight sensor for passenger seat goes out sometimes, and the blue tooth module can cause a battery drain. Unfortunately, IMO, most common problems are not known, because hardly anyone bought these cars originally.
Were the timing belt and water pump original when they were replaced at 190k? And what were their condition when you were replacing them? I have 07 RL with 158k, and I really want to estimate how long I can use more of my RL's original timing belt and water pump.
The timing belt and water pump were replaced at 100k miles at an Acura dealer, so 90k miles later the belt wasn’t that bad but still you can see it was worn . The water pump looked ok too but I did notice less free-play in the pulley . I think 158k is pushing it and it’s better to do it then to risk ruining the engine. This is an excellent engine that can last a long time but unfortunately it’s a interference engine and if the belt breaks then it’s gone.
I seen your fog light install, was hoping you could do a video on removing the entire bumper and perhaps even putting it back but I’m sure that’s about the same as taking it off
My white 2005 Acura RL just get 250,000 miles yesterday on the way back to home. Cheer, I get it video for 249,999 mi to 250,001 mi. My car no longer has the many function on the main screen. Now the big screen only can use for adjust fan speed + wind direction and on/off A/C (edited). Can I have any advise to make the screen works again such as navigation and adjust bass?
That might be due to that navigation dvd in the trunk. The little box in the truck houses that DVD and its really sensitive if that dvd is dirty or that door is not closing properly. Try removing it and cleaning it and reinstall it, sometimes that can make it work. If that doesn't work try disconnecting the battery. The bad part is that if these little things don't work then Acura want it to be removed an sent to then for repair which can cost an arm and a leg. My RL has an intermittent navigation error, sometimes restarting it will make the navigation work again otherwise it will say, "navigation dvd error "
Man. I wish you elaborated on the transmission range switch sensor.
Congrats dude!! I love my RL such beautiful super reliable car.

Thank you! Your RL is a baby! But it is definitely a tank and can last a long time if properly maintained. How does it run ?
@@Travelingcarguy1 running lovely, oil and transmission fluid change next weekend 😁
@@a.c.6475 oh nice, don't forget the transfer case and rear differential fluid too

Oil leak is normal due to how older it is
@@CarlosDiaz-nw6mz
Now it has 200,700 miles
@patrick Boyd did you change the timing belt since it reached 100k miles?
Congrats.. Hope u are well
That RL still has the original starter at 300k?!? Damn, those are great cars!!

Also...for maintenance parts try Bernardi Acura online, they're near Boston MA, good prices for oem parts!

I have a 06 RL 349,000 still pretty no major issues
Original transmission ?
@@Fyourfeelingz yes
Yes originally transmission. Only Acura fluid.

Yes I can do a quick walk-around of it. It's simple and I'm sure you can do it.

Mine has just hit 164,000. It is making an usual sound that may be due to a muffler or converter issue. Can I share that video with you?
Check your fluids
