I purchased one of these recently. As we had an older aqua one tank that had mineral creep, which caused water to run down the side into the wooden stand. As I was in a rush to replace it, due to the fact the old tank and stand might collapse at any point. I purchased the lifestyle 76. What a waste of money that’s was the light I have since found out is pretty much useless if you intend on keeping plants. I’ve also found that with the filter box being behind the light the plants at the rear don’t get full light either. The inlet pipe as another has suggested here is way to long and sits into the gravel and needs to be cut to shorten it. I wished I’d taken my time and done my research before buying this.
Hi everyone! I ended up selling this tank after I used it to house those goldfish, the ultimate problem with this tank Is the LED lighting. For some reason the lights caused an unbelievable amount of algae to grow , more than any tank I've ever kept, if I cleaned the glass after it was covered it only took about 4-5 days to return. Keep this in mind if you're looking at these tanks! Also the little plastic clips on the front of the tank lid break very easily. Hope this is helpful 😊
Hey Kurt, a couple of things I have noticed seeing one in the shop setup, firstly the lid does not seem to close flush with the front edge, and the light shines through the gap? It looks the same on yours and seems the plastic is too thin and it bows.. Secondly do you notice that the light casts a shadow one third from the top due to the filter getting in the way. It does not seem visible on yours but you don’t have a backing on there.. Otherwise great review and interested in your thoughts!
Thanks for the review. I found your video as I am frustrated with the filter and Lid. I have the smaller 29 Lt one. The filter is horrible, it vibrates the whole tank so at this stage can only have plants. The flow is poor. I want to put something else in their however you can't put any cables through the lid. Does anyone know if I can undo the lid?
Thanks Kurt for your review, I have a similar history with Aqua One tanks, I currently have the Lifestyle 52, also suffers from the lack of a porthole to feed the fish, and if your light is on after you feed and close the lid, you have the wonderful yellow stars shape of the lights burned in the back of your retina 8-), my current gripe apart from the porthole is my pump is very noisy and after all attempts to quieten it down, turns out to be a design flaw from Aqua One, with smaller reducing elbow and pipes, obviously lots of stock from a smaller tank made to fit this Lifestyle 52, my pump set up should be like yours Kurt. I would still stick with AquaOne and for beginners to semi serious, they are great value for money.
Hi I have the AO76L and noticed you had changed the filter set up. Mine came with a long cartridge and the carbon mesh? Can I place the ceramic noodles and more white filter sponge in there ?
I'd recommend as much bio noodles as possible and then some filter floss to catch debris, in filters like this I find that sponges take up too much room for not much benefit 😊

How how did you make the filter cartridge replacement , what do you use to get rid of filter cartridges. Also when cleaning the filters do rinse the thicker sponge and the filters or just the top filters? And should you leave the air stones going 24hrs or turn them off when sleeping and back on in the day thanks

Aqua One has gone backwards in my opinion, they once bought out unique styled aquariums which NO one had now they are just plain aquariums nothing fancy. I have the Aquamode 900 beautiful aquarium, the Aqua style 850 and 620 both tanks have a slight curve in the front where these new units are just straight glass. the led lighting in them is poor especially for planted aquariums. my 620 has the 18W PLs and produce enough light for moderate plants plus they can be changed out for led PL tubes just by removing the starters. The aqua style upgrades are led that use 5050 smd which are useless for the height of the aquarium, they also cheat the customer by not having them go the full length of the hood, and when the led's die (eventually they will) you have replace the whole light unit. good, quick informative review for individuals that are looking at buying.

There is a clip on the right side where the hinge sits you can push left to allow the lid to stay up. This does mean you have no light as the lid will rest at 90 degrees but does save you having to gold the lid. As he said in the video the tube up top isn't great. recommend removing the tape also and I drilled extra holes in between current ones. Other than this its actually a great little tank.
Hi there! Jen Unfortunately passed away at Christmas time , her long legacy came to an end , but surprisingly the orange one in this video was a rescue from a daycare centre and looks just like her when she was smaller!
do i have to keep the filter on all the time so i keep the good bacteria on i have the same tank and i don't like it because of the filter can be taken down could you tell me please what can i do about the filter should it stay on all the time or ??? is fine if i turn hit off at night

I just bought one of these tanks and just took off the tape for better flow also will it cause the filter to not capture all the correct waste if its getting put back into the tank as its the first hole?
Ho there,I got the aqua one 76 LT lifestyle aquarium I love it but the only thing I don't like was the light was very bright ,so I got some black tape which is water proof and taped up to bars of lights and left the middle lights only and now it's perfect light now as i only have artificial plants only by 👍
thank you for the heads up...aqua ones realy do seems like cheap rubbish even more than they use to be...they realy look like every single change is all to save money for manufacturing...you have saved me a lot of money.
I've got this tank and the lid is fine don't know what ur on about mate. It looks sleek and I've never used those shitty little hatches for anything. My lid stays up when I need it open u must of gotten a faulty one
I have this in the 21 litre. I was so shocked at how poorly designed it is, that I uploaded my own RUclips review. It’s crap, the motor is loud, the flow is poor, the lid is clumsy and doesn’t have a feeding door, the filter isn’t removable like the older models, and the light button is so finicky. I went back to my old Aqua One Ecostyle 21, as a small hospital tank. I also still have my old Ecostyle 61 which is wonderful. Stay away from The Lifestyle Range!

Did you ever chuck the LED light on a power point timer?
The biggest issue I have with this tank is the maximum water height is too low, you end up with a huge amount of glare from the LED.

Yes you can, slide the lid to the left and it loosens, remove fixing on the right hinge and off she comes.

I would by the 620T from aquaone or the 850 , slightly older design but better functionality i think

I cut the clear tube to the filter intake. That way it doesn't touch the gravel. My tank has more gravel then yours so it was partly under the gravel.
I love my Aqua one lifestyle tanks, can't fault them. I do use airstones with them, but I'd do that with any tank anyway.

I don’t like my tank, I wish I could remove the top of the tank and use my own filter/light. Rip off for the price.
The impeller pump in this model is literally half as strong and moves half as much water as the previous model so no wonder it’s terrible
