Eheim Thermocontrol 400e
Hi everyone!
thought I would take the opportunity to upload a video of my 4FT community tank with the equipment that keeps it running.
this will be my last Eheim heater if it fails to stay water tight as the last 2 i have had keep getting condensation inside them.
thanks for watching once again!

Aqua One Lifestyle 76 Aquarium Review
Просмотров 10 тыс.4 года назад
short and sweet review on the Aqua One Lifestyle 76, nice looking tank, but not as good as some of the older style "all in one" aquariums (my opinion) but as a temporary holding tank for a few fantails it does the job!
Under Gravel Filter Rant

Just a quick upload , talking about my success with undergravel filters and a catch up with Jen! This video was inspired by Corey from aquarium Co-op, and also the recent video uploaded by Big fly media! Worth checking these guys channels out! They go much more in depth with their experiences!
Aquaclear 110/500 Noise Solution/Review

I finally upgraded to a filter system I'm fully satisfied with! These things are power houses. Mine came a little noisy out of the box but I fixed it with a relatively simple solution that works well!
A fish called Wanda "prop replica"

A project I started working on in my spare time, this tank features the same characteristics as the aquarium in the film A Fish Called Wanda by John Cleese.

Just posting a video of my discus aquarium for the hell of it, it was a good excuse to use my new galaxy s5 camera on UHD mode, but everything in my tank is going swimmingly at the moment :)
Bare bottom fancy goldfish aquarium

I changed up the scenery in my 3 foot fish tank, the fancies loved it, some of them over 10 years old :)
I don’t like that shit When I started the hobby we didn’t have hanging on backs or canisters we had to stick with this shit The good thing is the hobby evolved in not riding a 80s year old car they god obsolete that’s why I don’t want these filters anymore
I worked in a pet shop in the late 70's UGF was all there was or the plastic corner filters. Both worked really well.
I have this in the 21 litre. I was so shocked at how poorly designed it is, that I uploaded my own RUclips review. It’s crap, the motor is loud, the flow is poor, the lid is clumsy and doesn’t have a feeding door, the filter isn’t removable like the older models, and the light button is so finicky. I went back to my old Aqua One Ecostyle 21, as a small hospital tank. I also still have my old Ecostyle 61 which is wonderful. Stay away from The Lifestyle Range!
I love my Aqua one lifestyle tanks, can't fault them. I do use airstones with them, but I'd do that with any tank anyway.
How is your 16 year old fish now 22 years old if still alive
Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing your collection with us. I'm based over in the UK. Currently using an old Algarde U/G filter that was manufactured back in 1984!
I still use undergravel filters in my tank. Considered "old skool" by many, but always found them efficient, they do the job well. They are not that easy to find, nowadays. I prefer the old style plates, not those new style that clip together.
For 40 years I’ve used under gravel with power heads, they are so much better than air flow period
Under gravel is over rate and wong way. Should be Anoxic Tank Design! Whoever invent the undergravel is a stupid idiot that only care about money.
Very useful, thank you .
ive only been fiskeeping on and off since i was a child, i just learned what an UGF was in the last few months and i am just yesterday put UGF in the base of my hottub pond. The traditional filters were killing my plants from excess flow. Also my betta tank is got a deep sand bed food web type tank bc the filter was blowing him around. In the last 5 months ive seen how "almost brainwashed" about 'traditional' filteration. Theres no downside ive seen to UGF that doesnt have an equally simple solution thats adds to the beauty and balance of the tank.
You're exactly right! I use them on almost all my tanks...and I think that rumor or urban legend about the mulm building up or the one about plant roots can't grow or even the fish digging up substrate will cause chaos and permanent damage is all bullshit that was probably started by filter manufacturers to sell us more crap.
Hi Kurt, great looking quality fantail goldfish. Where did you buy them from?
Hi! i used to work for a wholesaler and i could pick the ones i liked best :)
@@kurtfield6956 Where could I buy them from?
I purchased one of these recently. As we had an older aqua one tank that had mineral creep, which caused water to run down the side into the wooden stand. As I was in a rush to replace it, due to the fact the old tank and stand might collapse at any point. I purchased the lifestyle 76. What a waste of money that’s was the light I have since found out is pretty much useless if you intend on keeping plants. I’ve also found that with the filter box being behind the light the plants at the rear don’t get full light either. The inlet pipe as another has suggested here is way to long and sits into the gravel and needs to be cut to shorten it. I wished I’d taken my time and done my research before buying this.
How how did you make the filter cartridge replacement , what do you use to get rid of filter cartridges. Also when cleaning the filters do rinse the thicker sponge and the filters or just the top filters? And should you leave the air stones going 24hrs or turn them off when sleeping and back on in the day thanks
I agree 100%. The undergravel is an excellent filtration system if it is set up correctly and with a low flow will complete the full nitrogen cycle breaking up even nitrates to nitrogen gas. We need more videos like this to educate hobbyists. Great video. 👍👌👏👏👏
it is. cause of the oxygen moves through the ground. thats where the poop is.
Way late fir sure but always use silicone Grease. Petroleum jelly will breakdown o-rings and other seals over time.
Nice!
Er. . don't think you are supposed to put Vaseline on a rubber o-ring? It will dissolve it! In filters where the impeller is situated before the filter media, a pre-filter sponge will reduce the likelihood of abrasive material (grit/tiny snails) getting into and damaging the ceramic sheath on the impellar. FYI: Bubble wrap is an excellent insulator of sound and vibration.
Anyone filming a RUclips video in portait mode isn't worth watching. You've got nothing to say.
I don’t like my tank, I wish I could remove the top of the tank and use my own filter/light. Rip off for the price.
The impeller pump in this model is literally half as strong and moves half as much water as the previous model so no wonder it’s terrible
You maniac, you actually did it it❤
I just went from an fx5 ( that recently busted) to a huge under gravel filter in my 125gal tank. Literally just made the switch last night tank looked like butt cheeks last night and this morning the water was crystal clear.
I know this video is old, but I am getting ready to covert a 46 gallon bow front back to a UGF and am gonna plant it heavily
Brilliant, thank you!
No godamn idea what you are doing in so many regards, wtf.
Hi what type of gravel and what size do you reccomend for an undergravel filter? Im between 3- 4mm and one thats like 1mm or smaller which is better?
I cut the clear tube to the filter intake. That way it doesn't touch the gravel. My tank has more gravel then yours so it was partly under the gravel.
thank you for the heads up...aqua ones realy do seems like cheap rubbish even more than they use to be...they realy look like every single change is all to save money for manufacturing...you have saved me a lot of money.
Great view. Was going to get one of these the 94L version as it fits nicely in the space in my place. But now I am not so sure.
I kept fish 20 years ago and under gravel filters were The best thing going, the water was Crystal clear and the fish thrived, i’ve just returned to the hobby and I think after doing research on all the many different types of filters I’m going to go back to the under gravel type, your fish looks absolutely beautiful so you must be doing something right, i’ve watched many of the videos regarding the big fish keepers/ fish rooms, I’m not mentioning no names here but I do feel they are more biased to sell the product and get ratings for their channel, it’s become too commercialised to believe some statements about a certain products, and gullible people get sucked in all the hype, so it’s a pleasure to watch someone who enjoys his hobby, Great video thanks for sharing
Awesome video and very interesting thank you Kurt. I think maybe undergravel filters have been pushed aside by the propaganda of aquarium supply shops and manufacturing companies who want to sell more expensive pumps and filtration systems
I think your idea (for those who worry about mulm accumulation under the plates) of attaching the syphon tube to the lift tube is an excellent one - I hadn't thought of that before.
I Googled "replicate the tank from a fish called Wanda" and here we are
We used them back in the 70s and 80s and I used to neglect mine but it still worked.
THANK YOU!
do i have to keep the filter on all the time so i keep the good bacteria on i have the same tank and i don't like it because of the filter can be taken down could you tell me please what can i do about the filter should it stay on all the time or ??? is fine if i turn hit off at night
I have this tank, I’m looking to replace the filter with a bigger canister filter.
I bought the 250.version from the new.version for some.reason mine stops heating at 29degrees when i have put the heater on 31 degrees so.strange it shows light green...
Dr. Novak's plenum system works great. Same concept but the water is moved very slowly. The uplift tube is cut to the height of the substrate.
What kind of live plants do you have? 🙂
Thank you, this worked like a charm. Saved me from buying a new motor head.
Hi Please could you tell me what the output voltage is on the led power supply. I've purchased a 2nd hand lifestyle aquarium and it's come with the power supply. Many thanks Dan
Hi Dan unfortunately I've since sold this tank and don't have the power supply on hand 😔
can u fill it up more ?
I love heavily planted tanks and i heard that Undergravel filters are the way to go especially since substrate loses it's nutrients etc. overtime and i also heard that the waste passing underneath an UG filter actually helps plants root better and keep them healthy. Will be trying this method soon and i'll be running it with a Box Filter as well for my fish
I just bought one of these tanks and just took off the tape for better flow also will it cause the filter to not capture all the correct waste if its getting put back into the tank as its the first hole?
Not too much bypass through only one hole 😊
@@kurtfield6956 okay mate thanks
omg you saved me from total insanity. Thank you so much!!!
Hi everyone! I ended up selling this tank after I used it to house those goldfish, the ultimate problem with this tank Is the LED lighting. For some reason the lights caused an unbelievable amount of algae to grow , more than any tank I've ever kept, if I cleaned the glass after it was covered it only took about 4-5 days to return. Keep this in mind if you're looking at these tanks! Also the little plastic clips on the front of the tank lid break very easily. Hope this is helpful 😊
Did you ever chuck the LED light on a power point timer?
The biggest issue I have with this tank is the maximum water height is too low, you end up with a huge amount of glare from the LED.
Thanks for the review. I found your video as I am frustrated with the filter and Lid. I have the smaller 29 Lt one. The filter is horrible, it vibrates the whole tank so at this stage can only have plants. The flow is poor. I want to put something else in their however you can't put any cables through the lid. Does anyone know if I can undo the lid?
Yes you can, slide the lid to the left and it loosens, remove fixing on the right hinge and off she comes.
Undergravel filters are the best the other filters are just to suck your wallet dry
