Pioneer blue line edition, My folks had the pioneer stuff like this in the late 70s early 80s lovely equipment.
Классный апарат мне подогнали 500 модель этой серии сейчас в ремонте лентопротяжный механизм барахлит как заберу сделаю тоже обзор только у меня стрелочные индикаторы смотрится по красивые с ними а так думаю по звуку они будут одинаковые спасибо вам за обзор да апараты делались на века

Nice deck. I used to have one. The controls are not "full logic controls" , so going from play directly into fast forward or rewind and vice versa without pushing stop first is kinda hard on the transport and maybe not the best idea.

I just got one of these fine decks and it was restored very well. However I still notice that older tapes that will play just fine in my Sony Boombox will simetimes drag in this deck. It seems that even aftet a complete overhaul it's still a bit finicky.
Yes, the entire "blue line" may be too naughty. The complexity of autoreverse adds some oddity too. Although I do admit Pioneer for interesting models, personally, I prefer other brands of cassette decks.
I bought this one again mainly for nostalgic reasons. Believe it or not my Sony boombox is my main cassette deck as it plays just about anything you stick into it.
Sony has relatively reliable cassette transport mechanism. That's why I still keep in my collection Sony TC-K15, 1979. Still works like a charm and sound is crisp and clear:

Does it need an amplifier or is there a built-in one?
Why did manufactures stop making great looking decks like these. They all started making them black and out of plastic.
Probably because people switched to other technology...
Because stuff got cheap and makers wanted to $ave bread by making junk. I have a few decks like this, I kept my 70s stereos, even my mini-corders and camcorders
Make no mistake, these decks were very, very expensive, and they still are today. Not many were sold. Cheap stuff today is sold by the millions.

Oh yes, the old deck are the better. I have newer deck that appear to be newer than my Pioneer CT-940 are not work great. The Auto Reverse keep getting jammed.

Where do you get those cool looking cassettes man?
You can try eBay, search for Reel Cleer Cassette. Personally I prefer TEAC, but they are =super= expensive these days.
