I casually talk about nuking cities into oblivion and murdering people in their sleep and keeping a knife in my work bag. (I actually do two of these things and only in certain situations. Guess which and in what situations ;)
Okay this definitely deserves my Subscribe, 3 games pretty much in a couple of weeks, that's dedication and i can respect that, keep em coming. Good job.
Japan Chapter 1: The great Hojo founds Kyoto, the coastal capital of his new nation of Japan. Gypsum, though not available at the moment, is a resource located nearby, along with furs, wheat and stones. Despite that, the emperor despises the plains. While exploring the grand island they had settled, a barbarian scout was found. He sends his warrior in hot pursuit as he builds galleys with his new tech, sailing. He finds the outpost far west near a place he would consider settling. Soon the barbarians set up their forces and got ready to plunder. While the attack ensued, the first galley had reached a new land, Laurentia. As the battle continued, a housing problem arose, but elsewhere, the galley meets Philip of Spain. The second galley had been created and is heading west. Spain had sent a delegation with churros, unknown to them of Hojo's plan. Next, he finds Mvemba of the Kongo, with barbarians near his border as well.
New sub here - Loving your let's plays. Your introduction and commentaries are very nice as well. Your voice and accent is very easy to understand for non-native speakers of English. Keep up the good work! P.S.: A good Pantheon ad starting Religions early is quite important for a Domination victory since you can choose the best bonuses for your playstyle. It really bumps up your offense/defense/unit production/reduce unit upkeep and more. In one of my playthroughs, England suddenly got a massive boost to their city defense. Even small cities with 2-3 cities had over 45 defense and required 4 catapults working 3-5 turns to take them down. Never found out what boost it was though - does anyone here know?
Drew, you should stop using the rising sun flag for video thumbnail. historically it is the symbol of Imperial japan. and those who not forgettable about what imperial japan did(like exploiting a colony) might be unpleasant. would you please consider about it?
The deepest desire of others: unlimited money, immortality, super powers... Drew's deepest desire: to create a DLC for Civilization 6 where you can cut your enemies' heads off with a katana being Japan
You should've used the Galleys to DISTRACT the barbarians. You see they actually CAN do something against them. When you are trying to run with your damaged warrior you can park your galley on the coast nearby the barbs and they will instantly go for it instead of the slightly farther away warrior of yours since it's the closest enemy unit. And when the galley gets lower hp you just pull it out into the ocean farther so they can't reach it. I've used this tactic to great effect on island maps before, great for early game when you need a turn or two of healing or are desperately trying to rush back to a fortified city etc..
Baltica would be the land around the Baltic Sea. Laurentia was one of the continents that came from the break up of Pangaea. It consisted of North America and Eurasia.
Just got this game on xbox. I rage quit a game because I couldnt do anything. The barbarians had 3 forts next to me and they constantly were spamming out barbarians. While the other civs were building away...at turn 75 I had one city.
I feel like when you find a barbarian galley, for example, it should be renamed to pirate galley because the barbarians in the sea really are just pirates. They attack you ships and raid your cities
Okay I started a Naval Dominant game with legendary starting positions, High water level on archipelago, with naval Dominant civs., and Japan was the first to go on Diety level. Ottomans destroyed them, and the Australia Took out Brazil. I'm at war with Germany, America, Netherlands, and Maori. Currently I have Sea Dogs and Venetian Arsenal. Netherlands have fleets and Armadas. Pheonicia is my allie and we are currently in a stalemate. Disaster Lv. 4 it's fun but Australia and Ottomans are just chilling and advancing with ease. I'll probably get nuked eventually.
How is he able to move his units without having to click and additional button? For example, I have to click “g” and then itll show me the amount of turns itll take a unit to get to the desired location, but he just has to click on the unit and where he wants it to go
To make a new city, what is the minimum space it could be away from another city? Could I make a city only to spaces away from another city just like in civ 3?
All this game needs to be perfect: - fix the beyond broken parts - in-game gestion of natural disasters like hurricanes, sandstorms and eruptions. - the possibility to keep taken city's buildings as they originally look like (it sucks that they're normed out according to the architecture of your civ.) - some more roaming hazards besides the barbarians, like the wandering lions seen in civilization IV - less caricatured animation of leaders
I dont understand why people do any other game other than domination? Ive never even attempted a religious victory in my whole history with civ (since on nes!)
Fun fact about civilization 6: as you move throughout the eras the music gets more advanced. Go test it you will see.
I noticed what sounded like simon and garfunkles parsley sage rosemary and time in the background

I love how Drew casually talks about killing hundreds of thousands of people.
it's the crack talking
Killing 1 person is personnal, but killing millions is just a matter of statistics. Quoted by Stalin, maybe kinda x)
DrKiIIJoy You must be more accurate than me on that translation. I give you that, thx for sharing.
Jack de Reduvo Like me then.
I casually talk about nuking cities into oblivion and murdering people in their sleep and keeping a knife in my work bag. (I actually do two of these things and only in certain situations. Guess which and in what situations ;)

"This is gonna be a battle of...dudes with swords."
That NEEDS to become one of the tech quotes for Bronze Working or something.
"Get justification for killing thousands of people." -Drew on the topic of religion
dragonbrawl9 At least religious people don't eat babies
They do, in fact. Just only babies who's parents follow a different religion.
Drew please just chill a little bit with the civ 6 uploads, I can't even keep up!
No!
IKR!
No sleep all Civ!
Whenever I play Japan I name my religion Anime.
Den Telos or hentai
Death or Satanism
mine is seppuku
Your really smart
The japanese propoganda looks like its working based on these comments...
Hojo: [chuckles]
That's not a sword.
[he pulls out a katana]
Hojo:
THAT's a sword.
[ Pulls put dic----tionary]
Okay this definitely deserves my Subscribe, 3 games pretty much in a couple of weeks, that's dedication and i can respect that, keep em coming. Good job.
This is my first time seeing drew actually play a game

good history! 👍
Man you deserve an Oscar
I know this was made 2 years ago but still
Hire a samurai
Everybody was hiring samurai
note: rich people who could afford samurai hired samurai, poor people who could not afford samurai did not hire samurai
"and economy was going an-- Knock knock. Its america here, with ships that have guns, (gunships)"
+Gnar The Missing Link aww you ruined it :(

"i don't want to shove my religion down anyone's throats" biggest religion in a few episodes.
oh how his content has changed
Drew, do a playthrough of gathering storm please!
Drew, would you do a Civ 6 gameplay series with a Non-Domination strategy? I think it would be cool! Thanks man. Love the series
Watch his Civ VI series as America. He went religious.
Drew, you should stop using the rising sun flag for video thumbnail. historically it is the symbol of Imperial japan. and those who not forgettable about what imperial japan did(like exploiting a colony) might be unpleasant.
would you please consider about it?
Can you grow the fuck up and not get offended by everything?
Well this is a domination campaign as Japan, so an Imperial Japanese Flag is very fitting. So it's an absolutely no.
I like how they put triforces on hojos shirt
Is that historically accurate
That's where the Triforce came from, it was inspired by the Hojo clan symbol.
Who was like: "dont settle away from river dont do it!"? I think settling on mercury would be better choice
The Crack is stronger than usual today.
He should name his religion: Tentacules. :D
moving the capital away from the river just killed me.
+Hououin Kyouma!
He can just build a district next to it dont worry but yeah it was stupid
Alexandre, have you been watching YOGSCAST? ;)
Nope.
Drew you could have settles on the hex by the ocean and the river. It counts as a costal city but you also get the plus 3 housing
I wonder what the Earth map looks like
Gabriel Hahn like the earth
I liked Civ 5 graphics wise but Civ 6 does a great job with bigger armies. Get both
joshua sitzema I get confused on the civ 5 graphics. They look messy to me
If I’m in a desert I always rush the Pyramids first, for that extra nice builder which will help a lot, and then focus on other stuff.

is there also an xp limit when fighting barbarians in civ vi?
@DrewDurnil Do you think this game is an improvement overall from Civ 5?
Damn was hoping for first vid CRUSH AND BURN butt you fighting back... Well 3 Barbarian troop from getgo...
note that the japanese say words that start with a k so you know in this game im saying because its wied
Hire a samuraiii,
Fact: people who couldn't hire a samurai didn't hire a samurai
Great work, japan is my favorite in CIV 6.... I hope my channel is as big as yours.
Drew actually playing the game... interesting
You do realize that not starting next to fresh water kills your housing.
2:10 Really? And you just casually said that...
Just got this game on xbox. I rage quit a game because I couldnt do anything. The barbarians had 3 forts next to me and they constantly were spamming out barbarians. While the other civs were building away...at turn 75 I had one city.
On an island that big i would build 5plus cities
can you make the fog of war react the same as 5?
Fave map type
I feel like when you find a barbarian galley, for example, it should be renamed to pirate galley because the barbarians in the sea really are just pirates. They attack you ships and raid your cities
hopefully you have a better start than your japan campain in civ 5 :)
Doesn't look like it so far

Erm what map? And how did u make japan on an island? Is it like that automaticly (and yes im good at geogrephy
Not great at English, though.

can you quit the luxury icons if you want?
This is quick, right? I've been playing on epic lately, but I think I'm gonna start at least going standard instead..
I'm a big fan of Civ V and I want to try some new strategy games. Would you recommend EU4 or HOI4?
I'd recommend starting with EU4, but it's your choice. Both games are really fun.
6:30 well i guess you have never met the CoMMUniNEstS
Drew can you please play on a higher difficulty? Or maybe try that in your next series? Would love to see how the AI operates at higher than priest
Do you guys recommend this game? I've played this on the xbox but like civ 3 or 4 or something. I just don't really know if its worth it or not.
Did the same map and goal but with the new malaysia civ, spawned on an island witht 2 city states :(
3 city states* (!)
4 city states* XD
How is he able to move his units without having to click and additional button? For example, I have to click “g” and then itll show me the amount of turns itll take a unit to get to the desired location, but he just has to click on the unit and where he wants it to go
Do we know how many total civilizations there will be in 6? And if I buy the deluxe version does that allow me to download all future DLC for free?
just so you know you cant disembark onto tiles with rocky shore unless you have the unit promotion to do so.
Drew, can you play as Spain next please
Why whould you not settle on spot then settle a second city on the coast?
Drew stop speaking whenever you meet another civ
why is japan true start location in civ5 bigger and better (imo) than in civ 6 ?
What difficulty is it?
I hope he answers
drewww....please do deity marathon huge map.
Ahh Drew before he became a meme lord... BLASPHAMOUS TIMES!!!! PRAISE BE BELGIUM GO VAN DREWHOLM!!! GGAAYYY PAINTBRUSH!!!
5:03 heheh yeah boi
How do you get on an island by yourself?
I've been trying for a while now.
What do you mean?
To make a new city, what is the minimum space it could be away from another city? Could I make a city only to spaces away from another city just like in civ 3?
i dont know the minimum but borders stretch 3 tiles either side so i would build 6 tiles away from each city to maximise land space
Are all these games on Prince difficulty until the official release?
greygamervideo I believe normal for now
you want to found a city by the cost. if you find a city by the coast you would have to take it over.
the japanese leader guy has the triforce on his shoulder
9:05 Every crussade ever
can't watch this entire series because you didn't settle on the mercury
and walks away from fresh water >.> , I think its lingering habits from civ 5 I still do some tactics on accident without thinking.
All this game needs to be perfect:
- fix the beyond broken parts
- in-game gestion of natural disasters like hurricanes, sandstorms and eruptions.
- the possibility to keep taken city's buildings as they originally look like (it sucks that they're normed out according to the architecture of your civ.)
- some more roaming hazards besides the barbarians, like the wandering lions seen in civilization IV
- less caricatured animation of leaders
Anyone know the settings he played this at?
Best youtuber. To few subscribers
So, in Civ 6 cities can't bombard units?
They can if you build a wall
That's why Trump wants to build one.
Jack de Reduvo Gonne make civilization great again!

You don't need iron for your samurai though...
AI difficulty?
Drew civ 6 is great but where's the civ V ai
You said that we would have a normal schedule last week
I dont understand why people do any other game other than domination? Ive never even attempted a religious victory in my whole history with civ (since on nes!)
Empire of Japan flag lol isn't it the same flag that China and other Asian country are offended by?
Yahir Tapia empire of Japan's flag looks like a sun with its rays, the new one is just a sun
Afaik, Koreans are the only one offended by the flag.
