I found your page in 2024 looking for someone cooking organically and love your ethos and hearing about your life. Thank you for sharing. Also feeling inspired to try sewing, found two old sewing machines in my loft so need to get on it!
The jacket is awesome! About 10 years ago I made a rag quilt out of flannel sheets that were not holding up well. It turned out great, but it was so heavy by the time it was done, I struggled to use it, so I donated it. I like to think maybe someone else discovered it and loved it, maybe even still using it.
Please use your hands All you want. I am learning so much from you! I, 66 and I find your lifestyle refreshing. AND I USE THE WORD STYLE because I love style but not trends.
Hahah thank you! I’ve had a lot of feedback on it so I’m trying but I do just talk with my hands 😂 And I’m so glad you’re learning! Thanks for the feedback!
If people can't cope with background noise/someone's accent/movements then they should just not watch imo. You shouldn't change yourself just to appease a troll.
Oh you are the kindest - I’m so glad it’s been a space you’ve enjoyed. It’s easy to doubt the impact of anything we do but anytime I see another Shein haul or a life of overconsumption glorified I think it’s time to make another video!
I loved this video! I have been following for a few months now, trying your sourdough routine (and failing so re-adjusting slightly), loved hearing about flexi-schooling (btw you are very lucky your school even suggested it and agreed! Lots of families would love that option but sadly their school will not agree. We are still trying to figure out if it’s for us or not). I haven’t been following the trad wives ‘drama’ but it’s interesting! I am a SAHM with a Saturday job and I like it however the plan is for me to work more when both of my children are at school. I would quite happily stay home if we could afford it financially. Saying that I am immensely grateful that there is a choice and if it makes sense for a family for the wife/mum to stay at home and she likes it then why not. It goes the other way too, if a mum wants to work full time because she loves her job, go and do it, amazing, if you can’t afford to stay at home but have to work than that’s the sad part when I feel there isn’t much choice. Love your content, love your sourdough and sewing in a non trad-wife way and just love hearing about your normal family life and meals and things you do. Happy and Healthy 2025!
Ah I’m sorry the sourdough isn’t working right yet! Keep trying and let me know anything I can help troubleshoot. And I so hear all those SAHM thoughts, I love that you get to do what you want - that’s the dream isn’t it! I think SAHM is different from trad wife, and in a sense neither are wrong if they’re truly what someone wants. I think I see the “trad” movement as moving the decisions making, financial, and other powers away from the woman and putting it more on men which is a part of it I struggle with! Then there’s the whole influencer trad side of it which is another ball game all together as people portray, encourage and celebrate a life they don’t actually live as by nature being an influencer is a job with the power to bring financial independence. Big topic 😜 I’m going to dive in more!
I love that you're on RUclips and the content is longer. I've started a low buy year on 10 areas of my life including clothes and you inspired me to see how far into the year I can manage instead of my initial plan to just do January as I did once before. So thank you, you're making a difference! (But I'm buying my underwear new if I need any!) I'd love to see a video on what sustainable make up and skincare you buy now so that I can have suggestions for when mine needs replacing.
In terms of skincare and makeup, I don’t know where you are in the world but I’m a bit useless on makeup cos I use it slowly and I have bits from a brand that’s shut now. But in the UK PHB ethical beauty has been my top choice so far. Google where they’re sold cos they’re a little hard to get hold of sometimes. But worth it in my experience. Skincare wise in the UK Evolve Organic Beauty is my top choice. They work really well and are one of the most truly sustainable brands I know! (Also female founded and a high rating B Corp.) Sometimes I get stuff direct from them, sometimes I search unopened bits on Vinted! Here’s the link for them if you want it (aff link) tidd.ly/3JAlsYN Not to say they’re the only one - but after a deep look at the brands here when we moved, they came out top top. There’s also a blog of my top bits from them on thewholehome.co.uk.
Honesty is all I have the energy for 😂. And yeah there’s a pressure with the new year sometimes, but it’s just continuing the small steps and celebrating the little changes on the journey this year for us!
Love your videos. I'm checking into ducks. Would enjoy the actual process and how they live. Really anything you post is great. Move your hands all you want.
Ooo! I love this move! 😍 I stayed away from WhatsApp over the last two weeks and it was WONDERFUL. Some things got missed, some people phoned to get the answers they had wanted, and it was all absolutely fine 😊 Deleted Insta, FB and TwiX long ago, never used TikTok, Snapchat or any other SM apps, other than RUclips, and I enjoy learning from long form videos so much 😃 Sewing is fab, I feel like it’s been a new-found superpower that I’ve discovered later in life. I’m also enjoying clay, papier maché, and about to start trying Silver clay - a podcast-y video to keep me company is so enjoyable 😊 Wave your hands all you like, and looking forward to what you’ll be bringing in the coming year! 🎉
Fewer apps is always a wonderful, lower cortisol move right?! 😅 I haven’t downloaded Instagram again (the only other one I do) but I will this week as the kids go back - I do value getting to share there, it’s just a mixed bag too. And yes to sewing - with the level of destruction that the textile and clothing industries bring, we need to all have at least a level of sewing skill to help us slow our consumption! What are you working on at the moment?!
@ I got AGONISINGLY close to finishing a quilt for my niece’s 1st christmas, so that’s one WIP still on my sewing table. I also have the materials I want to use to make some bags for cosmetics/packing cubes/etc. I made air-dry clay hanging decorations as Christmas presents for everyone. And I got some silver clay for Christmas as a gift, and I plan to make some jewellery based on my daughter’s wonderful drawings with it. If I get on ok, I have other sentimental jewellery pieces I’d also like to make, but we’ll see! And finally, we bought a jacket for my daughter that she and I are going to use as the basis of a craft/sewing project over the coming year, which I’m really looking forward to. She has it all designed, so next steps will be getting the scrap fabrics and materials all gathered 😊 Looking forward to hearing about your own upcoming creative adventures!
I’m so impressed! I’m going to do another quilted jacket but one from an actual quilt - I’m figuring out what I want different from the one I have just made style wise. I’m wanting a bold and modern quilt design and a more boxy jacket. We’ll see! But I’m thinking I should try some more simple little quilter bag or something first cos I’ve never done any actual quilting.
I would love to see videos on your wardrobe/closet. Or any house organization with kids! I am about to have our first baby and feeling very overwhelmed. lol ❤
Hi! Oh I’m so sorry you’re feeling overwhelmed - but I get it. On my wardrobe, honestly it’s so simple, I don’t have a ton of clothes and I have a rail of clothes and some more folded on a shelf. In terms of house organising - I think keeping it simple is the biggest tip I can give. Babies really don’t need much at all. We bypassed a lot of the “stuff” that people recommend. I had a crib, carrier, and car seat/stroller combo and not much more. I didn’t do a change table or play gyms or anything like that. Then nappies/diapers and not too many clothes. We kept it really simple and it takes a lot of the stress out of it for me - cos there’s less to keep track of and organise. If you do find you really need other stuff, you can pick it up along the way but babies really do need very little. ❤️ Then there’s just not very much to organise, especially early on. But for what there is - developing systems and routines really helped me, like meal planning and laundry routines so it’s all pre planned and those things aren’t adding to the mental load. But I’ll try and put together some kind of video! All the best as you get closer to welcome your babe!
I love your videos- we are making some big changes in our family life and I’ve been very inspired by your content. I too have SO many thoughts on Ballerina Farms, but I’ll die on the hill that she is NOT a stay at home mom. She is a work from home mom, with a TON of help and resources, who runs multiple businesses and performs on the internet that she is a stay at home mom. I think we need to open up the conversation that most people really aren’t a stereotype, but that in order to fit in on the internet & niche down society at large now refuses to recognize that everyone (particularly women) can be many things and don’t need to fit into a box (I’m referring to everyday women here, not performative influencers).
Yes! I 100% agree and this is one of my big commentaries on her! People are looking at her and their takeaways are what life as a stay at home mum could/should look like. In reality she’s an heiress running an empire with a ton of help. (E.g. She “homeschools” but with a full time teacher employed!) She seems to not be hiding a lot of these realities, but people see a simple stay at home mum and homesteader. When she’s running a huge farm with likely no budget boundaries and a lot of staff. 🫠 We need to be able to see it all like you said - people can be many things and the boxes need to go. “Stay at home mum” has a thousand different iterations! And I’m so glad that I can be a tiny inspiration as you make changes in your life! ❤️❤️

Excited for another year of journeying with you! And I was never bothered by you talking with your hands, just keep being you!
Haha thank you! People are opinionated on the hands apparently but honestly I don’t think I can stop so they’re here to stay 😂

It turned out great, but it was so heavy by the time it was done, I struggled to use it, so I donated it. I like to think maybe someone else discovered it and loved it, maybe even still using it.
I love that you got to give it away though! I’m sure it’s being loved by someone!
Happy New Year! I really enjoyed watching you in 2024 and I look forward to watching in 2025.
Thanks for being here! Glad your enjoyed it so far - I’m still learning this platform but I’m loving it! ❤️
I think you’re one of my favourite people on RUclips. Bless you in all you aspire to do.
Ah thanks so much! It’s been fun posting here that last year and I’m looking forward to another! Have a great Monday! ❤️

@ no I totally hear you! I do know I talk with my hands a lot 😂 but I agree - I probably won’t end up changing anything!
Your channel became one of my faves in 2024. Absolutely love what you’re doing in this space. Looking forward to all that’s to come!

@@pauline9933 you’re so welcome! Good luck on the low buy!
Interesting talk, I love your honesty. Simple is good. Also jacket is fab

Maybe a day in the life of a duck here then! We do love them - highly recommend them as an addition if you’re considering it!

Thank you so much! It felt like such an achievement to figure it out and finish it!

Id love to move to Europe from the US for the next 4 years.😅
Let’s just say there are parts I do not miss 😅. I hear you. ❤️
