So appreciate this video! We are in Canada and our daughter has been struggling a lot with anxiety in school. I’ve been thinking of potentially homeschooling for a brief period (timeline TBD) in order to take the stress off her and dive into why it’s happening. Every time I think I’ve made up my mind, I falter again. Your emotional struggles with capability and capacity resonate so much. Also we have a 2 year old too and I worry for what it will do for him as well. It was a breath of fresh air to hear your honesty, as so much online content feels like people live a whole other world once they homeschool. We don’t have flex school here which makes me so sad because it sounds perfect. Wishing you all the best with the new structure!

Thanks for your comment - and I’m so sorry you’re dealing with that school struggle. We were very lucky that issues at school weren’t a part of our decision making process but I think had they been we might have landed in a different place. School decisions can be so so hard, and I we need more honest chat about homeschool because so many people have said what you’ve said. The burden of responsibility and the juggle of the weigh very heavily, we’re all different and it’s not the right or best path for everyone. I’m not ashamed to say it really wasn’t the option that was best for our family- or for me personally.
I wish the flexi option was available more widely because a lot of people here are singing its praises from range of angles. I hope you find the right solution for your situation and feel peace with it. ❤️

Wow this video was so well done. You articulated your experience beautifully and I appreciated how honest and detailed you were. We have been homeschooling for 8 years, we are in Canada, and unfortunately there is no type of flex school available where we are. But honestly it sounds like it could truly be the best of both worlds! All the best moving forward!

Oh I’m glad it felt that way - I really wanted to explain both sides cos it was such a mix for us and so many pros and cons to both sides. And I lot I had to work through! We’re very lucky to have this option and I’m excited to see how it pans out.

Oh so well said and thank you for sharing your story! My next podcast is all about our home education journey too - and covers a lot of similar ground, so interesting to hear your perspective, as always so eloquent ❤

Oh that’s interesting - I think you homeschool right? It’s often a one sided conversation I think, and I was so surprised that these beliefs I held about parenthood became apparent as we journeyed through a trial period!

This is wonderful Kezia! ♥️ As I was listening to the first half of the video, I was thinking about a couple of families at my children's old school (a fantastic small village C of E school) who did flexi-school (I think they did either 2 or 3 days in), and I was wondering if something similar might be worth your family trying as it might be possible to get the good things about both approaches that way. These families really loved it and it worked very well for them :). I'm so excited for you all!

That’s so great to hear they did that and loved it - it’s not available everywhere and up to the schools individually but it’s a great option if you have it! ❤️

Thanks for sharing, I have been looking into home ed as my daughter is struggling with separation from me at school etc. good to hear another perspective and possible options. Just out of curiosity, what is your actual job - is it social media? I am a SAHM currently with a 3yo also struggling with going to preschool and I need some kind of an income soon (as all the financial strain is on my husband) but not sure how I would manage that with home educating and also I need separation from my kids, it’s so full on and I sometimes simply need a break.

I’ll come back and answer this properly from my laptop later!
