We haven't had the opportunity to install the Tow-Pro Liberty on a Crosstrek yet, but we'll have that put on the list. We do have a video showing a Redarc brake controller being installed on a 2020 Subaru Outback. The install on the Crosstrek will be very similar to what's shown in the video. www.etrailer.com/tv-install-redarc-tow-pro-liberty-brake-controller-2020-subaru-outback-wagon-red24fr.aspx

This is a great video! I am almost at the finish line on 2024 Outback Premier XT (Canada) and there is no brown wire on my brake pedal wiring. The plug that goes into the brake stud has 5 wires; green, white, yellow, black and a blue/red. Which one do should I tap into for the brake controller?
Thanks for a very informative video. One question: If you tap into the brake switch wire at the pedal will the controller still activate the trailer brakes when the car brakes via adaptive cruise control or eyesight emergency braking? Brake pedal is not engaged in those instances; could/ should I tap into the brake wire at the 4 way harness in the spare tire wheel well?
We have not confirmed any kits yet for the 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness. Check out the following link to see our fit guide. This will show you when we have options. www.etrailer.com/t1-2022_Subaru_Outback+Wilderness.htm
@@Funk_Be_Runnin I did. It was the yellow wire off the brake pedal. I've towed my camper twice this year and so far it all seems to be working as it should
The Redarc # RED52VR Tow-Pro Liberty would be a great choice for your 2022 Subaru Outback. To install it, you'll need a functional 4 pole trailer connector, part # 118467 and our brake controller installation kit, part # ETBC7. You could go with a wireless controller like the Curt Echo, part # C51180 but it's major drawback is that it can't be locked so you'd need to unplug and secure it when you leave the trailer unattended. If you decide to go that route, you'll still need the 4 pole connector mentioned above. You'll also need a different install kit, part # ETBC7L. We prefer the Tow-Pro Liberty. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brake-Controller/Redarc/RED52VR.html www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit-Vehicle-Wiring/Subaru/Outback+Wagon/2022/118467.html www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/etrailer/ETBC7.html www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/etrailer/ETBC7L.html
That red brake wire we tap into is lighting, correct? The difference being it will "brighten" your break lights when active, vs the lower luminosity of the "running lights" if you have your headlights on? Does the break controller only activate when that wire sends a signal? And then the strength of breaking (blue wire output signal) is determined by the accelerometers in the brake controller housing?
The duplex wire comes with the ETBC7 kit that the installer referred to at the beginning of the video. This kit was installed on the vehicle because the vehicle did not already have a 7 pole wiring harness. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brake-Controller/Redarc/RED24FR.html www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/etrailer/ETBC7.html

You guys should do a video like this but with the Crosstrek

Hi, I think I felt the brake pedal move when the car slows down while on ACC. This should work just fine AFAIK
Do you have any current instructions for the 2022 wilderness? There is no brown wire on the newer ones. I have it all wired up except this part.

Did you end up figuring out which wire it was? I’m stuck at the moment as well! Update: Crisis averted. It’s the yellow wire.

Hey guys! I have a 2022 outback wilderness. Would this kit work? Also just making sure- would I need a wireless brake controller like what was shown?

I love how a flat wire appears out of nowhere and there's no explanation on what is it and where does it come from.
