More amazing scenery. Thanks for sharing. That was quite the climb. Great video. Yes indeed, great picnic. Still a great sunset with all the clouds and the expanse.
Thank you for creating and sharing your experiences at Death Valley National Park, Robert. Your videos are well crafted with the ideal blending of motion, scenery, music and interpretation from your personal experience with the locations. The Ubehebe Crater is one of my favorite attractions in Death Valley. I first visited the craters back in 2014, hiked to the bottom of the main crater just at sunset, alone. The sky above was very dramatic... from the floor of the crater, I lie down flat while looking up at the sky -- only a few large drops of rain fell as the last rays of the sunset poured through the clouds. I had to share this place with others, and so I provided some friends with the opportunity to see the crater in 2018... the visit was completely different -- like that of a small party of explorers going on a fun hike in the full sunlight of day. I hope to visit Death Valley again, soon, while there is still water in the recently filled Lake Manly. Cheers.
That is awesome! I've been making periodic trips to Death Valley since 2019 or 2020, but somehow had never been to Ubehebe Crater. Looking at a park map recently I was surprised to see how many parts of the park I have yet to visit. We just uploaded another video this afternoon from a trip last weekend where we revisited Lake Manly and also hiked in the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes in 60 mph wind (so in a sand storm basically). While I may not recommend it as the best idea, it was also a whole lot of fun! Seeing a lake in Badwater Basin was quite an experience too.
Wow Robert, that was awesome! Nothing like a good workout hiking uphill on peagravel. Is that volcanic ash gravel? Been to Death Valley but never heard of this. Thanks Mel, men would sureky die without a woman to feed him😅
Apparently all of that gravel is volcanic and it was thrown up out of the crater when it blew. It covers quite a large area, but is most concentrated near the rim of the crater. I've been to Death Valley a bunch of times since 2019 or 2020, but somehow had missed the crater. Melanie actually mentioned that we should check it out this winter. My initial reaction was literally, "Wow!" After seeing it I wished we had even more time to hike and explore, but I guess there's always next winter!
This is at Death Valley NP in California. It's a fairly easy day trip from where we are staying in Pahrump, Nevada - at least to some of the features in the park. We were hoping to camp over there and spend a few days, but then we ended up with van trouble that took a couple of weeks to fully resolve so our plans were delayed.

What an awesome adventure! 😮
You can roll down over my cold, dead body. Do glad Melanie keeps you in line!
I try but we might need more bubble wrap. 😔 ~Mel
The sunset was spectacular anyway! Spectacular actually! Loved the video.
Thank you Robert and Melanie.

Hiking to the bottom of Ubehebe sounds like a great experience too! We will have to go back there again and explore more too.
I like how you guys roll.
Thanks for the ride along.
Love your videos and demeanor, thank you so much for making us a part of your awesome life and travels….. I’m jealous 😊
