    I love Dr. Schubiner's description of CFS/ME "PTSD for the body." My trauma before getting it the first time was not huge - but I had 15 major stressors in one year. Mononucleosis morphed into CFS/ME. I did have a traumatic birth with a violent car accident and was 3 months early -- and in the 50s there was no preemie care. I was also bullied as I a small child until my mother taught me to defend myself. Though I learned to fight back (later sexual assaults as well as bullies) that doesn't release the trauma, though it kept me from becoming depressed. I too received the multiple diagnoses - ME has more names than a bandit! (I used to joke I wanted something with fewer syllables and more energy.) The doctor who describe it best called it "The pain, the brain, the energy drain, and oh god, I wish I could sleep again!" Getting OFF medications and learning to face the emotions and old trauma helped me recover by 80% - until the worst trauma of my life. This video explains so much about how I recovered the first time - and why it got worse again. This is wonderful, supportive, and educational. This tells me I'm still on the right track. Many thanks to you both!

      @@rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach you’re videos always give me more evidence, I look at this as a blessing in disguise, this journey of getting sick pretty much forces you to become a different version of youre self, learning to manage all those characteristics, people pleaasing, obsessing over symptoms and pushing to hard, The illness is forcing you to face it and manage it, I look at all the other people who had covid exactly like me . But they recovered instantly and didn’t suffer with ongoing symptoms like me, but they don’t have all those personality traits that I have. It all makes so much sense

I'm so glad that you're taking a look at those traits that may be driving your symptoms, Eric. They are also a pathway out. And remember, you are not actually sick! Learned neural pathways in the brain keep the symptoms going. You can unlearn them!

    Yes i am experiencing long covid (insomnia, palpitations, fatigue, exhaustion all the time, panic anxiety, dread, brain fog cognitive issues) and doctor told me, brain is inflamed, spike protein bla bla bla, mitochondria) blood tests are fine. She put so much fear into me. My naturopath says, rubbish, you are traumatised. It is so confusing.

    • @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach
      @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach  9 месяцев назад +2

      I'm so sorry about your suffering and understand how confusing this can be. I was told many of the same things (blah, blah, blah!) but the doctor's treatments never helped after 13 years. Fear is the fuel for mind-body symptoms caused by the brain and nervous system. I found it pivotal to focus on what engendered hope and safety. Watching recovery stories of people who are recovering can help with this. I'm so glad you found this approach and encourage you to continue with it!

    Such a beautiful and helpful conversation 💗 Rebecca did you do plant based diet and heavy metal detoxes while healing? I know they say that heavy metals could contribute to CFS n POTS, do you believe that?

    • @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach
      @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach  2 года назад +7

      I'm glad you enjoyed our conversation! I tried many different diets from keto to plant-based. Eventually, I settled on a whole foods, mostly plant-based diet because my body likes that. But that wasn't significant in my recovery because we don't see diet as the root cause of chronic pain or fatigue. I did heavy metal detox but that never shifted my symptoms either. After 13 years of being told to do all the diets, supplements and detoxes, I realized that those weren't significant factors at all! It was all the mind-body connection, and how the brain/nervous system were processing stress. If you're interested in a guided program to recovery, I'm teaching my class once this year starting in September! 💖

    I spend my nights with insomnia but im in a state of dread. Even listening to meditations on my earphones and breathing my body cannot let go and relax and im feeling the dread. I have to keep getting up out of bed.

    • @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach
      @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach  8 месяцев назад +1

      That's so hard and I've been there! It's a healthy instinct to get out of bed when you feel dread. Otherwise, your brain will learn to link the bed with anxiousness, which you don't want. So just as you are, get up and do something that takes your mind off the symptoms. You might check out Greg Jacob's book Say Goodnight to Insomnia. I'm wishing you well!

    Rebecca, how did you keep your self mentally sane through all those years ?

    • @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach
      @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach  9 месяцев назад +2

      It's wasn't easy! At times, I felt so frustrated or hopeless. But I held onto a hope that it could get better. Finding little pockets of peace and relief were key, instead of always fixating on the symptoms. See how you can nurture and care for yourself as a whole person. You are so much more than your symptoms or diagnosis! You have so much inner wisdom inside you. Following that is key to recovery.🥰
