Comments support George's great channel. So, you might want to leave a few ! I really like his videos where he is selling at an event or shopping in an antique shop.
I really like these Shorts during the day that pop up George. House sitting a cat for friends on vacation down South and this was nice and welcome. Great vid btw. TY buddy😊👍
George - i sure wish I could shop a store that fast! Almost made me out of breath trying to keep up! Love watching the fast short videos, the long ones or the ones where you're telling the values of items. Learn something new from each one! Thanks!
I wish I could post a pic but I work at the local GW and a customer found an Absinthe Dispenser today… very art Deco style with a beautiful women holding the glass “bowl”… wasn’t sure what it was so I asked if I could take a photo and ran it through Google Lens… popped up immediately!! it was listed from $50-300!! This one was missing a lid but still amazing… she paid $2.50!!! Also got in today a great Limoges chocolate pot and a Franciscan Desert Rose Pitcher!!! I got a purple and amber Empoli snifter and vase once!!! I have to wait two days before I can purchase anything so a lot of the good stuff usually goes quick!! You should come check us out next time you are in WA 😉
Wow that is a tremendous find! I have noticed that the Goodwills in Washington often do have good things. I get the two day waiting period, we had the same rule when I ran antique malls so that the shoppers had a chance at things too
George, you would be appalled by my lical Dogbone MI Goodwill store. So overpriced, physically dirty, not organized, ambivalent service is the norm, never revived the discount color system since covid, My biggest peeve is a donated Dollar Tree item priced at $2.99. Consistently.
Around here the only old stuff is broken or was junk to begin with. You can get personal use dishes and soft goods, but not even resellable baseball/trucker caps. If a football jersey makes it in, it's old but not vintage or a fake. Or both. The artwork, so called, is horrible. I've been trying to use my birthday coupon all month and one buy this month was $5. Pathetic. That GoodWill was a cut above anything I see here..
It varies so much depending on what region you're shopping! Goodwill where I typically go is good to great in the Northwest, understocked in Kentucky and a glorified dollar store in St. Petersburg, Florida...and yet a friend of mine there found a great Cambridge Apple Blossom decanter there for $3, so you never know.
Do you think that many sights right now are just extended "selfies"" selling stuff? You and others have become so popular that others are cheapening what has already become cheaper with ebay? So sad for me, as I began with ebay back in the very beginning. I'm 67, and the whole on line market has broken down, which has drastically effected the brick and mortar market. I love re-selling, but have had to stop because of the current conditions..
Don't give up! I find that while what you're saying may be true, there are so many other ways to find merchandise at good prices besides thrift stores (e.g. estate sales). Also important to think outside the box, there's a lot of categories that resellers gave up on years ago (e.g. cut crystal, porcelains, Victoriana) that sell cheaply at thrifts but still sell online...just not for the big prices they fetched 30 years ago.

I'm sorry to say that some are like that! It varies so much depending on the regional management.

By George hi
