    Wow. I wish I could have seen a video like this 10 years ago. Before all the conventional care and orthotics, stiff shoes, and NO mention of natural, foot-shaped shoes! I've been on the journey toward natural foot health for a month , and grateful to at least of come across it at all!

    Thank you, thank you, thank you!! PRAISE GOD that your videos appeared as suggestions. I asked the surgeon to "straighten" my big toe when he removed the bunion years ago. After the surgery, he said he didn't straighten it because he was waiting for "the next time". I did not return to him. I'm praying after watching more videos and visiting your website, I will have the info I need to stop the pain, stiffness, and correct the positions of my toes.     Fixed mine myself as well. Just went to town on my foot one day and 💥. Yes toe separators help keep them aligned. But don’t be afraid to massage your own feet! Show that bunion who’s boss!!

    Amen, bro. 👍 Love this. I’ve been doing Pilates and we do a lot of foot and ankle articulation work, spreading out the toes. I swear my “flat feet” are getting stronger and I’m developing more of an arch in my feet. Amazing stuff.

    THANKYOU! Finally a video that explains clearly and concisely what is happening with this foot problem. Also your diagrams are a huge help with visualising the problem. I noticed a slight ache developing in my left foot and did not even realize the huge implications of this for my wellbeing until I looked up this bizarre word "bunions"! Then I watched a large number of videos about foot health that all talked a lot of gibberish and most of the doctors just wanted to demonstrate how smart they were without communicating anything vital in a simple, accessible way. I did not learn anything USEFUL until now! Thanks again!

    Wow. This finally makes sense of a comment a podiatrist had made about 15 years ago, where he said I had a bunion. (Note: I don't have a bump on the side of my foot, no crossed toes, in fact my foot looks exactly like a tongue depressor.) He said *exactly* what you said a typical podiatrist would: X-rayed my foot, said I had a bunion (he must have been looking at that 10-12 degree angle, although he didn't tell me that, he just said it's loose ligaments in the big toe) and prescribed a rigid orthotic (which I never used because of the increased discomfort and had to eat the $450 cost of because insurance wouldn't pay.) He was probably just prepping me for the eventual surgery he wanted to do.
    I am starting over again with my feet. I just got my CorrectToes and Pedag metatarsal pads. And I'm watching ALL the videos on this channel.

    Best video I've seen so far on this. Another guy in another video said that bunions were "calcium deposits." I knew that wasn't true. This video describes how bunions are formed and the body mechanics very well.

      People born with flat foot can develope bunions without using improper shoes. This happened to me. And in order to fix my bunions I need first to fix the flat foot.

    Wow! Thank you so much for explaining. I always thought that the bone gets thicker that's why the surgeon shaves it off and that's how was explained to me. So I had the date and time for double bounionectomy, but I got scared and didn't go through with it. I started exercising my feet and toes and the numbness was gone, in two weeks I could feel my big toes again. Another few weeks the pain was completely gone and I could walk normally again. Thank you for mentioning that bunion treatment can be used on fingers too.

    Great information and it works after a year with Lems Boulder boots 👢 Correct toes I am feeling the results. I also do the toe stretch, now I am getting the Lems Primal 2 for my birthday. 25 foot surgeries for bunions Burnett’s, neuromas, pronation, and hammertoes I was developed knee problems could hardly stand also ininji socks this is a miracle that I thought would’ve nerver happen but my walking standing coming back. I wasn’t a believer but now I am. Thanks Dr. Ray and Northwest for revealing the facts not just cutting and hurting people.

    Forgot to mention. This can also lead to pelvis problems and scoliosis as wrong feet biomechanics will lead to compensations in the whole body. Just a thought.

    I agree that wearing „correctoes“ (in shoes with big enough toe boxes) is crucial in bunion prevention. But there might be one more thing worth to mention. It’s FOOT POSITION. Here’s an excerpt from the book „Every Woman’s Guide To Foot Pain Relief“ by Katy Bowman (it’s a superb book, the title is slightly ridiculous though).
    „Now let us assume that you have never worn shoes that pinched your feet. In fact, let’s say you’ve never worn shoes at all. Bunions are made in other ways, too.
    As mentioned earlier, there is a large prevanlence of turned-out feet. Just look around the next time you go out walking in any public place. As mentioned before, this turn-out creates an increased amount of side-to-side motion of the foot instead of the normal front-to-back motion. The sideways use of the ankle has the weight of the body rolling not off the tip of the big toe, as in normal gait, but rolling over the side of the joint, which loads the big toe incorrectly. More simply said, when the foot is turned-out, the „bunion area“ of the joint presses into the ground with each step!“

      Or, a person starts to walk like a duck after their feet pronate due to hallux valgus. A lot of obesity, as well, in modern life, and that doesn't help things either.

    Human body is such a wonderful machinery. And this doctor is one of a few only who understands the biomechanics and the beauty of a human foot. Thank you doctor. Such a great channel.
    And please remember from down the foot up to your skull. It is all a connective chain. Never ever look into just one part of your body. My healing journey has opened my eyes to how beautifully a human body should flow. I kind of paid my price but staying positive and learning. Good health everyone.     HOW I HANDLED POSSIBLE MISALIGNMENT OF OTHER TOES FROM A NOT VERY MOBILE GREAT TOE PRESSING ON MY CORRECT TOES. My big toe wasn't all that bent (not as much as Rebecca's), but my big toe wasn't budging with the Correct Toes on as it ought and was therefore pushing on the other toes. Concerned that I'd get inappropriate alignment, for the first month, I used Kinesiology tape to stretch the toe into a straight position while wearing my Correct toes. This took the pressure off of the big toe spacer and allowed the other toes to space on their own. I'd tape for a couple of days on and then a day off. (I took time off because I was concerned about joint mobility.) I was also doing joint mobility and foot strengthening exercises. Then, after the joints were sufficiently mobile, I was able to use the Correct toes and they then were actually able straighten the toe. (Not fully, but Correct toes doesn't make a size between the medium and large, which is what I would need.) At that point, I was able to add additional girth to the great toe spacer and straighten the toe fully with just Correct Toes... no need to tape as often.
    Can't find the taping video, but it was one for ballet dancers, but what I did was use about a 4" length of KT cut into 3 long strips; I adhered the tape just below the nail on the side of the toe being careful to start the stretch after the first joint, I then stretched the tape to below where the bunion was, then without stretched I adhered the tape up along the arch -- overlap the other two pieces using the same technique... and then use two small rounded bits to cover and protect the ends when putting on and off socks. One strip was not enough to hold the toe in place. When doing this I had to be careful to make sure the toe was straight and level with the ground and I wasn't stretching it so much that I was jamming or impinging on my ability to move the toe. Over two days the tape would stretch more (due to movement and exercises) and so the greatest correction was on the first day.

    This video was very informative. I have a bunion. I went to a podiatrist and was sent to get an x-ray. He told me I had flat feet and ordered me an arch support. He really never said much about the bunion, which the x-ray showed I had. I've been doing internet search for information. Glad I stumbled on this video.

    These folks are right on. Unfortunately I had to wear shoes to school that were often too small and had bunions as a pre-teen. In my 50's I started wearing a toe separator between the great toe and it's neighbour. As he says, it is a mistake because it simply pushed the lesser toes over and I developed bunionettes in my 60's. Now in my late 70's and although it's too late for me they are spot on. One other problem is that the floor of the shoe becomes indented at the great toe so may further prevent correction. Cheers from Canada.

    6:30 what suggestions do you have for when splinting products shift the four toes instead of the big toe? I think I'm having that problem, but nor because it's tight-but rather my ligaments are too loose. I can wear the CorrectToes no problem for a long time, but my big toe is still somewhat crooked while wearing it.

    a 63 y old women, diabetic, but no insullin, has a mild neutophaty in her legs; the hallux valgus on her right foot causes a corn between the big toe and the second toe; she also has a high arch; one doc says not to remove the corn, just to cover it and wear larger shoes; another said to get rid of it and also wear a specia plantar lift in a larger shoe. What would you advice about the corn? And the lift?

    Great video. I have that problem you mentioned, where spacers push my small toes further out rather than pushing the big toe in. Is there any remedy for this? Thanks

      I just had bunion surgery, but even after it, I bought a bunion corrector that you wear mostly at night. It pulls over your big toe and has a brace on your bunion.

    Pamela, live in Spokane, have left foot bunion about six months, hurts to walk on Treadmill with closed shoes, bought 1/2 size bigger shoe, can make it one hour, next Day hurts. Can’t walk barefoot without some pain, went to kaiser, said was a 14 recommended surgery Dr. Monson, Liked him but Read a review that scared me, if I could have a second opinion would be good?     Hello, I need help with bunions. I've got a pretty bad one on the left foot and small one on the right. I'm a runner and cyclist and have had enough of this hurting. I've also tried many things. Maybe I haven't stuck to them long enough. Where are you located? I live in the D/FW, Texas area. Or maybe you could recommend someone in my area. Thank you. I always thought surgery was my only option, but wouldn't like to be down that long and do know the long term side effects and that's it's not always a 100% cure. Your video is very informative and gives me a true understanding of how my bunions formed in the first place. Unfortunately, I've never worn extremely high heels, tight shoes or flip flops, but something went wrong. I'm just ready to get this party started. I'm determined and will stick to whatever protocol is required because it's definitely put a damper on my activities. Thank you.

      Hi,, I fixed my bunion problem with exercise of my feet and toes every day first thing in the morning and during relaxing time before going to bed. I walked on tippy-toes and put a rubber band on my toes pulled it apart, released it 10 times/5 sets. That's all pain is gone.

    What about the limit of conservative approach? I wore correct toes for about a month and I feel that my second toe is moving and bending a bit towards the third toe, just like you mentioned in the video. What I should do then? I'm a bit worried, and the size pf my bunions haven't change. Thank you so much

    I would really like to come and apply as a client, but I'm not living in Washington. I'm living in Indonesia. I've already ordered the original correct toes online and they say thr stuff is on its way. But only wearing those correct toes, is that enough? I really want my foot to go back to normal position. I think my bunion condition is still minor. Thanks

    Hi, Is the way of walking affect and cause bunions? When I walk my foot goes a bit outwards and the muscle in the arch-big toe is kinda hard to move

    I have had the surgery to realign the toe and the deviation is occurring again. Doing everything I can to prevent them.

    I wish I was close by to make an appt. I developed a bunion because of an injury to the plantar plate which lead to an mtp bone bruise and now hallux limitus. The only thing I've been offered is fusion by four Drs. I've been stretching the big toe and inflammation has reduced but when I try to wear a splint the joint is so arthritic that it just feels like it's jamming into the joint w every step so I take it out and adjust my gate to favor the toe. Which throws out my hips. My spine will not hold an adjustment anymore. I cant walk for exercise. This has altered my life significantly.

    Question: If you already have a large space related to a bunion, then does wearing Correct Toes actually cause claw toe? You said the Correct Toes could pull up on the smaller toes in that case. And that looks in the video like it would promote claw toe. I'd love to know. Thanks.

    Very large growth on top and in between 5th toe had a corn now the growth has gotten bigger. Dr treated it as an abcess but very little fluid came out im worried it hurts very bad

    You mentioned that many times before someone gets this information their adductor hallucis becomes too tight and doesn't allow the big toe to come back to a natural position. Instead, if correct toes are used, then the big toe overpowers and moves the other toes out of alignment. What would be a way to overcome this? Would a nightly splint to try and move the big toe to a better position be effective over time to allow that movement and then use the correct toes after?

      We are unsure of your question or statement. Correct toes are used to overcome the tightened adductor hallucis.

      @@theycallhimjeffery Sure thing! That same 30 second clip is actually explaining the solution, look back to the beginning right at 6 minutes- stretching, getting flexibility, and using Correct Toes. Earlier the better for preventative care.

    This was so useful to me and I’m investigating further. The thing I’d like to know is how can one foot be affected and the other normal? My right foot is but my left isn’t and I see that the woman had only one bad foot. I’m right handed and prefer the right foot over the left.

      @@correcttoes Since seeing your vids I have sourced natural shaped shoes. They were pretty expensive and felt weird for a few weeks but the benefits have been phenomenal. No more rubbing, no painful arches. And since using spacers too, my toes look less deformed.
      Everyone needs to look again at their footwear.

    I tried the toe spacer my feet are to far gone they just made my feet hurt worse.
    Don't wait I'm trying to get my 15 year old daughter to wear her toe spacers and arch support
    if I would have tried it 40 years ago I may have been able to straighten them

      Wear your arch supports
      Do arch raising then go up on your toes
      It really help your arch from falling
      Be proactive eat a keto diet
      Sugar, carbs and processed foods veg oil almost killed me.i was 6'6"
      Now 6'4" I stopped my decline by going on a high fat diet
      had bone to bone between my 4&5 metatarsal
      I'm always learning and low fat diet is starvation for your cells don't drink the kool aid
      We need more dr. Like this.

    Does the custom orthotic have to be worn forever after or will the patient eventually redevelop a better arch?

      We don't typically recommend orthotics, they don't allow your foot to do the work. Instead it acts as a cast or splint that aids your foot. Allowing your muscles to activate and strengthen is how you can improve arch strength.

    I have never worn small toed shoes. Don't do heels or boots, but my left big toe is upon my second toe, and there is a thick callus growing on the bottom of my big toe joint...... and somewhere in there blood leaks out under the callus, and causes pain until I take something and let it out, then it heals up until the next time.....where does the leaking blood come from?

      No, not at all; and no other feet issues! I truly take care of my feet and purchasing correct toes allow me to exercise my feet, my fibular and deep fibular tendons. My correct toes, along with my Newton Running shoes (which are good for me) have increased the strength in my lower leg and arches. Though I have no knee issues, I've also noticed strength in my lower knee area. This has been my experience.
