    Very well presented informative video--learned a lot! By the way, is there medication which selectively goes after the "malignant osteoclasts" --which are currently thought to cause osteoporosis?

      Oooft - what a question! I'm a nephrologist by trade and this video gives you what i have in the tank on osteoporosis medications and bone cells at large....I'm not aware of this concept but no doubt some endocrinology guru will better answer your question. Definitely let me know if you come across a medication i've missed on here :) And thank you so much for tuning in. My best wishes. Kristeen

    Ppl need to do research on how dangerous these drugs are. The side effects are frightening

    You have not touched the function of Romosozumab injection? Is it better than denosumab injection taken twice a year?

    • @kristeenbarker
      @kristeenbarker  Год назад +4

      Yes great question. Romosozumab mechanism is covered here but the prescribing rationale we didn't touch one. Romosozumab is a bone builder and after one year of use should be follow with an anti-resorptive such as denosumab or bisphosponates to sort of 'lock in' all that juicy bone density (same would apply to teriparatide). Typically the bone builders are only used when first line therapies have failed/inappropriate (that might change in future) - so densoumab/bisphosphonates would be first line, bone builders second line. Hope that helps!
