You truly are a minimalist adventurer, Kevin! Your narrowboat experiences have undoubtedly given you a lot of ‘food resilience.’💪🏻 It’s important to challenge ourselves like this now & again, if only for the satisfaction & contentment that comes from saying, ‘Yeah, I did that & persevered!’ Keep the awesomeness rolling🏍…cheers!😃

Ha, an stomach of iron as my old man used to say - enables me to eat lethally hot currys and live to talk about 😁 Tis true living on a boat trains you to carry the minimal of essential items.

Interesting. There is an area in central Washington State (US) along the Columbia River and Snake River, that looks very similar to where you are riding. This area was denuded of grass and soil thousands of years ago when a great ice dam broke away about Missoula, Montana. The backwater that shot ahead scoured the land and carved out much of Eastern Washington state and then what is now the Columbia River on it's way to the Pacific. Later, volcanoes on the Pacific Rim expulsed enough material to cover the lower areas with what is now a very fertile ash/soil. Really enjoy your videos, Kevin. All the best.

Adventure means different things for differrent people, but seeking it is the most important step. There is a wonderful feeling you get when you end up saying to yourself, "I did that." Each of us needs to find our level of challenge, and perhaps push it a bit. The rewards are always worth it. Great job, as always!

Harris still doesn’t disappoint (through the lens anyway), love it! Fabulous church. I grew up in a tiny rural village in Norfolk with a medieval church which still has some medieval murals on the walls, tombs dating as far back as 1250, no electricity (lit by oil lamps) or mains water and a plague pit which has always fascinated me. Access is by farm tracks only so very tucked away. My lovely Dad is buried there. Next week’s episode already looks intriguing. Enjoy your day off! 😎

First, I have to say that for several minutes prior to your remark about this would be like riding on the moon, I had thought this must be what it would be like to ride on the moon if it was able to have any grass anywhere on it. My goodness what countryside. And then the church. That gloriously ancient church. I cannot imagine what it took to build it, what it takes to maintain it, and how determined all involved have been and still so remain today. Thank you for taking the time, Kevin. I certainly hope you got to have lunch somewhere on your serendipitous journey around South Harris.

07:50 fantastic to see the proper use of a passing place! Oh, and "Roghadal" is pronounced Rodel if I remember correctly. As for the roads "I wouldn't want to take a motorhome down here" - it's an issue faced in a lot of areas in Scotland, the NC500 is one such area, where the infrastructure was and never designed and shouldn't be changed to fit larger tourist vehicles. A lot of people are completely oblivious to just how rural Scotland is. Skye, one of Scotland's most accessible islands, has a population of only 10,000 people but nearly 750,000 people visit it.

Thanks Kevin, that was a lovely but sort of stark looking countryside, I was imagining that the road in places would've caused a bit of 'twitchiness' with all that gravel and no room for error. The old church looked marvellous and the sign that you showed us gave some hope of further refurbishment so it won't end up being totally neglected as a lot of churches are in England (or turned into something else)). Take care and all the best. Stevie

Kevin, St. Clements Church was a right wonderful tour extra on your part. I have seen some of your early photography work. You clearly have an eye for what is interesting. Being of Scandanavian descent... I am oddly drawn to landscapes like Scotland. I told you that your motorcycling was motivating me to travel that way again... I'm 90% (or so) recovered from shoulder reconstructive surgery, and have started my short tours within a few hundred miles of my homestead. Now that the weather is cooling off ... and my 61 yr old shell is mostly working again... I am going to do it! A longer tour, perhaps even overseas. I have two hard cases (Afrikan) on the back of my DR650 SE, and a Corbin seat (super comfortable). My bike is far simpler than your BMW GS, but... it's a proven trooper. I rode a similar bike all over Afganistan in my mid 30's and know that there isn't anything I can't fix on it with simple tools and means. Just have to say... your bachelor travelogues have been good for me to watch. Love the narrowboat adventures and can't wait for more of those... but... no canals here... just endless long roads. Cheers for your efforts and again, thanks!

You must have been shattered after your early rise that day. Me and Richard are trying to find a weekend before Christmas to have another cruise. I think I did his head in talking about you and your adventures. But secretly I think he loved it. Happy cruising kev. Maybe one day we will pass you on the cut. Sorry about the silly name of my RUclips page. I was bought up with Bernard wriggley. A musical commic from Bolton.... ( The Bolton bullfrog)

I’m not certain what I dislike more, gravel on the roadway, or manure from the farms. , or the occasional “ road apple “ from the Amish buggy’s power plant.

Hi Martin. Generally the BMW just needs the oil level checking between services.

I have an idea. Buy a Harris tweed jacket and a bottle of Isle of Harris whisky. King Charles is in Scotland at the moment, at Balmoral. You should drop in and have a cuppa with him. lol

The Lickisto Blackhouse campsite was on an old episode of Build a New Life in the Country which I watched just a few weeks back. I’m looking forward to seeing how it’s turned out as the owners were really struggling when they first started, so I hope it’s been a success!

Can anyone explain what that green surface

I'm loving your motorcycle trip, Kevin, but I started pining for Aslan-
Problem solved-went back & watched a couple of episodes
on the Lancaster. It was nice to hear her rhythmic chugging💗.
    Ride safe, bro.

I'm not sure but they are definitely some kind of floating platform. Maybe something as simple as a jetty for tying fishing boats to. Cheers for revisiting previous narrowboat videos. 🤗

Personally I think sheep just sit on the roads for no other reason than to annoy the hell out of the drivers!

One other wee point, again a bit like NC500, people gravitate to Harris & Lewis, and just ignore the Uists which, much to the annoyance of my family who come from the far north of Lewis, are far prettier.
