Good to see Honda sticking to what has been proven and works best. Reliable simple door handles and ergonomically perfect climate controls. Nice color too. Even a temporary spare would be a great asset. Agree that something like that should be standard. Such a spare isn't very heavy or expensive.
They left the wheel well in the trunk if you want an after market spare. You can also talk to a dealer and order the spare, foam, tow hook and jack from the EX. Hybrids do better when lighter and it protects the battery in a crash when you dont have the spare.
@@maggieawad5530 it is more on Lexus than Toyota. Lexus is ditching spares, climate control buttons, physical door handles, etc. Toyota is doing less, they basically only have electronic shifters.

It’s always a treat to watch your work! I own this exact vehicle, and clarify a point you made, I ordered from a 2022 Accord the spare tire kit and it fit nicely in the tire repair kit area. So there are options! Never owned a Honda Accord before, this was the first and we are really enjoying the vehicle so far. My commute is over 200 miles each way for work; telework the rest of the time. Easily get over 50MPG on the highway with a light foot on the gas. In our vehicle arsenal we have a 2022 Acura MDX Advance Model, 2021 Chevrolet Silverado High Country (6.2L, 4x4), and a 1966 Ford Mustang. Keep up the great work!
Lived with the 10th gen as a long-term rental for a while. While it's a toss up exterior wise between the 10th and 11th gen for me, the new interior takes the cake. Thanks, Tom.

There have three times in my life when I was THIS close to buying an Accord. Between bad dealerships and other issues (the wagon road noise was unbearable), I always ended up in something else. The cars have always been great, other than road noise.
@@DrivenCarReviews My 10th gen Accord 2.0t Touring has to be the quietest Accord I have ever owned. It's not BMW quiet, but I didn't pay $50k for the car so I'll take it. This is my third Accord by the way (7th gen, 9th gen and now 10th gen).
I wish they'd kept the Clarity going; love our 2018, and I wish I could buy a successor in the next few years. Basically an Accord hybrid with a gigantic battery.
One "correction" to what you mentioned about having to reset the regenerative braking control after stepping on the accelerator: there is a way to set it for the duration of that trip (basically until you turn the car off). I only have the car for one day now, but I believe the way to do this is to hold the left paddle for a few seconds when you press it for the first time.
Fantastic review. I’m going to keep my 2018 PHEV Honda Clarity and it’s amazing ~ 32 to 40+ all electric range which enables me to drive 90+ percent of the time gas free. 😊

I don’t really get the point of the regen paddles. Pressing the brake pedal activates regen anyway (blended braking). I guess the paddles are only useful going down long hills where you don’t want to hold your foot on the brake pedal.
@DrivenCarReviews If it’s full-on one-pedal driving, that makes sense. But here the regen is not strong enough to eliminate the need to press the brake pedal. So if I’m slowing, I’m pressing the brakes, which activates regen anyway. I think Honda engineers had the same argument, hence the “odd” behavior you mentioned at 5:50. They figured regen paddle usage is only temporary for going down long hills and your foot is tired of pressing the brake pedal. When you reach the bottom, you want the always-on regen setting cleared so you can drive like “normal” again.
@@TheEquationSlayer I'm curious why full one pedal driving isn't offered. Seems like it should be easy to implement. Frankly, I think owners want a consistent experience which is why I didn't like the dynamic Honda is offering.
I own this Accord (came from a 2020 2.0T Touring) and am quite pleased with it! One thing to point out regarding the regen paddles - if you hold the left paddle, it will go in to “M” mode (manual, I guess?) and will stay with whichever level you want. This will turn off with the car, but super easy to turn on each drive. Great review, BTW,
Love my 2024 Touring. Getting 41plus MPG, while not trying. Added a JL subwoofer and the Bose syatem is very nice. Really enjoying the ride, technology and $40 visits to the gas station. Great review.
I have a 2024 Accord EX and took a trip to Kentucky from New York city this was my first long term trip and going there I averaged 35.6 MPG and my return trip when I pulled into my garage it averaged 40.7 MPG and I'm average 37 MPG while in the city so I am very satisfied with my Accord and hope to get better mileage in the future.
The Accord Crosstour and Acura ZDX counterpart, were ahead of their time. Every time I see one I have to take a second look thinking it’s a new model from Honda. Is battery lifetime still a thing for hybrids? I remember when hybrids first came out, they said they had a 10 year lifetime until the battery died.
It’s supposed to be longer than 10 years now, but so many of these systems are new and we don’t know if some companies aren’t doing it right for longevity.
Good review. I've owned a 2023 Honda Accord Touring for three months and I love the heck out of the luxurious, quiet, tight cornering and driving more every day. The exterior is, let's face it, the very definition of bland. Shrug. A gray paint job looks pretty cool, tho. The lack of a spare tire is a huge drawback. I live in Houston and you simply do NOT drive around without a spare! Fortunately, the big foam insert lifts right out and the space fits an aftermarket spare tire and kit perfectly (just as if Honda knew that's what people really wanted--wink, wink, nudge, nudge.) Oddly, no remote control for a garage opener--even my old 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid had one. All the bells and whistles take awhile to learn and appreciate, but the touch panel makes it easy. Lovin' the heck out of this car.
@@destroyerofsimps6574 Depends, of course. But I'm easily getting over 35 mpg even on short hops. I literally just filled the tank for the first time just last week. I figure I would get over 40 mpg easy if I drove more. A good compromise between gasoline and electric, I think.

Good review Tom. Honda is sticking with the Earth Dreams Technology which is direct fuel injection, a turbo and a CVT. I test drove a new 2021 gas CR V and I couldn’t tell it wasn’t a conventional transmission that’s how good they are. I have two Hondas and they have been the best cars we have ever had for reliability and low maintenance. Nice to drive too. I feel that in Canada though the price for the new Hybrid Touring is around $51,900 it’s too much. I have to admit I like the new styling a lot but would go for the RAV4 if I had to make a decision. The RAV4 has a very good hybrid system which has all the bugs worked out of it by now. Just can’t swallow that high price for the CR V.
You are definitely observing 2 different ends of the teeter-totter. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. If you don’t have a spouse or children please choose fun and add a dash of sensibility when you are gray haired and reading your iPad by the fire place. 🙏🏼🇺🇸
Honda's AWD is not even close to AWD offered by other Manufactures. Honda has always been FWD bias 98% of the time. So there isn't really AWD when it comes to Honda. Also it just adds weight to the car and that kills your MPG overall.
I never thought I'd be considering a crossover. Currently own a 2021 Subaru Legacy. I like sedans - the seating position, the handling, the better fuel economy, etc... That said, I recently drove a Hyundai Santa Fe rental. After a few days I could appreciate sitting up higher and how easy it was to slide in and out of the driver's seat (well, my middle age knees and lower back appreciated it). Plus how easy it is to stuff a lot of cargo in the rear. I can safely say my next vehicle will be a crossover. I get it now.
Have you considered a lifted wagon, like a Volvo XC or Subaru Outback? I found personally when I owned a Volvo XC70, the difference was noticeable compared to the V70 I had before it. In my opinion, it gave up a bit less in terms of driving dynamics, and it’s not as mainstream. I know that the Volvo XCs are a bit more expensive, but the Outback isn’t bad at all!
The Legacy has a higher driver position than most sedans ,it also has half inch or better ground clearance. It's much more comfortable than the Accord .
Its 0-60 second time is closer to TWO seconds more than that of the 2.0T which was and is a superb engine and a joy to drive. Too bad the environmentalists killed it as they have killed every other thing that gave us joy.
Love the review! Looking for a new car the Accord was one of my cheaper options but I hate the shape of most modern cars and the stuck on display look. I'd rather they would just leave the screen off.
I agree in principle, but not in your facts. The first generation of the iMMD drive train was the 2014-15 Accord PHEV. They dropped it from the lineup for 2016, but added it back (second gen) in 2017 as just a HEV. Third gen was in various models between 2018 and 2022, including the Clarity PHEV. I think Honda needs better marketing, because the Clarity was a "test the waters" imitation of the Accord, coming in PHEV, FCEV, and BEV versions. AS with anything where you try out too many options, in limited areas, it didn't sell well. But the point is that Honda is clearly testing the waters. CAFE requirements have driven the switch from the options (1.5T, 2.0T, and 2.0 Hybrid) to two in the Accord, and I'm sure BEV versions (maybe PHEV) are coming. But Honda moves slowly.
Honda on the Civic has a PHEV in Europe now. So the US should get the PHEV on Civic this year 2023, then the Accord should get it in 2025 more than likely.
I really enjoyed see the neighborhood that you drove through. Great looking homes. Where is that? I had a Honda 2019 Accord Touring Hybrid and the great 500 mile range and typically 44 miles per gallon on the flat, I did really enjoy the car. But I've had some knee problems and it was just to hard to get into and out of. I had to lay down to do it. So I sold it for almost what I paid for it (minus the sales tax) and bought a Tesla Model Y performance with full self driving. The model Y is much higher and easier to get into because of what Tesla calls "Easy Entry" that moves the seat and the steering wheel out of the way and then resets it once you put your foot on the break to activate the car. It seems on some Honda models, the EX-L is now the new Touring. It seems things that used to be expected in higher trims and the concept of getting more with each generation is going backwards.
6:25 Road Noise: I’m very happy to hear Honda addressed this. I traded-in my 2020 Accord 2.0MT6 because of the horrible road noise. I made money on the deal due to funny COVID used car pricing, but I loved everything else about that Accord!
The 10th gen is much quieter than 9th, so the 11th gen hopefully will finally put to rest the "Hondas have significant road noise" Con. "Camry is soft and slower. Accord is louder and faster." These days the Camry isn't that soft riding and now maybe the Accord is finally quiet enough to carry on a conversation at highway speeds.
People say it looks bland. I disagree I think among all the over-styled car designs we see these days it looks timeless and will age well. I also think it looks great in motion.
Hey Tom, I’m comparing to Camry and it would of been great had you discussed the collisions avoidance systems in that Accord. The Camry brakes and turns the front wheels to avoid accidents. Does the accord? How about automatic lane guidance?

I agree with you Tom, what's with those silver plastic inlets in the front fascias of some Hondas - including this Accord? It is off putting, especially when so many vehicles are going to black grilles and trim. It was nice to see the sun shining in this video 👍 Also, I just want to say that you are the better looking of you and your twink, I mean twin 😁 By the way, I bought a new second-gen Accord three-door hatchback in 1982 (when that was the only Accord body style) and I loved it. Wished I had bought other new Hondas after that, but I just couldn't afford them, or so I thought. I went with Chevy's and paid a lot in repairs - so much so that they would have paid the difference, and pay for a trip to the moon 🙄
I nearly bought one of those 2-doors as my first new car. That silver-ish blue paint. Unfortunately when I showed up to actual buy it, the dealership slipped in a $1,000 ADM to the negotiated price. I walked. They had the nerve to call and threaten me for not buying the car I committed to. As a 20 yo I was intimidated, major league. I had to unwind the financing and insurance too. Nightmare.
I wish the made a PHEV version of this. This type of drive train is so nice and handles much better than Toyota. I liked the clarity with the exception of its tiny 7g gas tank.
@@sn4rl277 My only serious gripe is that the poor reception for this homely Crown sedan might reduce the likelihood that Toyota will bring us the good looking and functional Crowns it has coming down the pipeline.
The hybrid seems to be the way to go. More powerful and more efficient than the standard gas engine. Could prove more reliable too, with no transmission and less stress on the gas engine.

The EX-L trim has 50 mpg city, 44 mpg highway. 17" wheels are more quiet, cheaper and better fuel economy. Since there is no AWD, 17" snow tires will be cheaper too. Other than ventilated seats, the touring doesn't offer anything extra imo
hi.. Hold the left paddle for at least 3 seconds to keep the regeneration to activate the manual cancellation instead of getting automatically cancelled when you press the accelerator. You can cancel it by pressing the right paddle.

If Honda had improved the Crosstour and still made the CRV the now 3rd generation Crosstour would compete with premium crosses making Honda far more money per unit. I don't understand how a company can be so stupid and build a one and done rather than improve.
That body style leaves a lot to be desired, mainly that tail end. I felt the '22 body style was much better. We recently purchased a CRV Hybrid and while just about everything on the lot was already sold, there was no shortage of these.
In quality and design Honda is at least 5 years ahead of Toyota. Honda interior and exterior design is awesome, a lot of thoughts put into place in designing of Honda vehicles. If I have a choice between buying Honda and Toyota in same class of vehicles, I would pick Honda hands down.

In these backseat shots and similar it often seems you’re voicing over but have the hand movements set. If that is the case, do you set the script, take the scene with throwaway audio, then add in a voiceover?
Simulate shift on a car with no transmission gear (well there is one gear or maybe two with this new design), I don't understand. I love the smooth power delivery of the electric motor of my Clarity. No changing gears.
I concur that in this class, the Accord is king. Handling is best in class. Speed is fine. MPGs are spot on, while aesthetically it elbows the dated Camry right into the ditch. But AWD would be nice.
@@johnhowardesq I once sold cars for a living ( don't hold that against me) We had three of these come thru the lot in the year I was there. I sold all three of them. Literally the most difficult part was getting someone to spend a few minutes driving it and then showing them the functionality of it. If I could do that, it wa more than enough to overcome the unconventional styling

Not the benchmark for me. I drove 3 of these, and many other cars before buy my K5. I needed a car for work that was great riding on the highway. The 2023 Accord wasn't even as good as the 2023 Civic I was considering. I have had my K5 for about 3 months now, and 10,000 miles. Great on the highway, and good gas mileage.
Going to the Dealership to order this Tour model… any concerns regarding battery replacement (cost? expected mileage?). Ps… thoughts on upgrading wheels to HPO option? TIA
Are the lower trim Accord hybrids also quiet? It sounds like only the Touring has acoustic laminated glass but does the lower trims also have the added sound deadening material that you mentioned, so are the lower trim also relatively quiet? On the regenerating braking paddles, you said one of your gripes is thar it resets to normal when you hit the accelerator. I think the reset is a good thing, you don't want to think the car will brake normally but instead stops abruptly because you forgot you hit the paddle to maximum on you last stop or hit the paddle to slow the car down on a curve (kind of downshifting a manual), which brings me to the question, will the left paddle slowdown the car(not stopping it)without stepping on the brake?
So how does it compare to its main competitor Camry Hybrid XLE? The Camry has more options in the XLE trim and can potentially save you thousands of dollars over the Accord Touring. It also has more color choices for the leather interior, and most of all, Camry has port-injection engine which will significantly reduce carbon buildup! (Honda has direct-injection only.)
So many variables. It's up to the shopper to decide. For the average buyer, the injection method means nothing. Styling, interior appointments and brand loyalty are much higher up the list. And it might have one more color choice but the grey is bland and the red is retina searing. Honda's interior designers are arguably better.
I test drove both cars before purchasing my Honda Accord Touring Hybrid back in Feb. I was one of the first in Michigan to own the new gen. Compared to the current gen Camry, the Accord feels so much more upscale and new. The powertrain is unbelievably refined and buttery smooth. I can't say the same of the Camry. My wife has been driving the Accord mostly and is getting 55-57 mpg (90% city). I did "downgrade" the 19" wheels and tires to a 17" combo to help achieve that efficiency. The funny thing is my wife never uses the regen paddles. Just drives it normally like any other traditional ICE vehicle. There are 11th gen owners over on some social media forums that are achieving over 60 mpg's with city driving. Impressive to say the least. Plus this new generation of Accords feels so much more refined and mature over the competition. We also test drove the Hyundai Sonata hybrid too. It was feature packed but felt like driving a lower class of vehicle. I think the new Accord (especially in the touring trim) is the best balance of upscale, drivability, interior comforts, and economy.
Great question. I extensively shopped and drove both The Camry XLE Hybrid and the Accord Touring Hybrid when I could find them. Near the time of my purchase, Toyota was not making the XLE for the most part. Only LE and XSE. I wanted no part of the XSE with the 19" wheels and tires due to reduced efficiency and increase road noise. Of course, then I go and buy the Accord Touring with the 19" wheels! Duh. It actually came down to availability. Here are key differences between Accord Touring and Camry XLE / XSE IMHO: Accord easily wins the technology and entertainment category. Accord wins for interior and trunk space. Camry wins for highway fuel economy. Accord arguably better handling and ride. Toyota wins for more proven hybrid technology and reliability. Accord has no Homelink or height adjustment for front passenger seat. Camry no driver seat memory. As for appearance, well, that is highly subjective.
I wished we had this car in Europe. Really considering importing one at some point (Canadian market version because of km/h). It is a great looking car. Good replacement for my 2018 Volvo V40.
The problems I find with the 2023 Honda Accord: 1. No All Wheel Drive is available 2. No heated steering Wheel is available 3. No spare tire is available 4. No XM Radio in vehicles sold in the USA (Available in Canada, If you can do it in Canada why not the US) . If a 2023 or 2024 car missing all of these features is fine for you, then get one. Hopefully, by the time 2025 comes around these deficiencies will be resolved. Latest Nws is that as of January 2024 you can purchase from Honda a spare tire kit for about $500.
As an owner of an electric car, I have been waiting for Honda to come out with an ALL electric Accord. When they do that, I will buy right away as long as they don't pump artificial sounds into the cabin with fake engine shifts. It's a Honda Accord. Does anyone want fake engine shifts and artificial engine sounds on hard throttle?? I want the cabin to be as quiet as possible. Isn't that the point?
My last car buying experience was 14 months ago. Wanted a high gas mileage sedan, used but no more than 5 years old. Surprisingly (at the time) the local CarMax was quoting prices as good as anywhere local to me. Really like the selection they had too. Went there for a Civic listed. I am 6'5" and definitely not a broom handle. Could NOT comfortably sit in a Civic. Knee and leg room near non-existent for me. Tried an Accord and found it some better, but a long way from acceptable. Tried a Fusion, 'livable' as far as room, but plain, ugly and a bit old. Tried a Camry and Altima, again, 'OK' room but pricey. Left there in a Chevrolet Malibu. Interior design could not be better for me. Turbo 1.5L is good power and I regularly see 38/40 MPG on my 55/65 MPH 40 mile commute. Atrocious cabin noise though, gotta play the radio (Carplay!) loud.
How much do,you,really save with the initial inflated price and a battery that lasts 8 years if,you’re lucky and very expensive to replace. I’m not sold on the hybrid model
If you remove performance from the metric this is the best accord ever made no doubt chassis is better mpg is amazing looks are subjective interior is more refined
I’m going to push back on this review a little bit. The gentleman is driving on quiet neighborhood streets. Take the Accord onto the freeway, especially concrete, and you will hear an incredible amount of road noise in the cabin. The 19” wheels are a big mistake in my opinion. You feel every single bump in the road with those wheels and factory tires. I’m about 3000 miles into a 2024 hybrid touring and now shopping for a 2022 Lexus instead. I’m gonna take a big hit financially, yet my very sanity at stake! The 20 minute Test drive just wasn’t enough to reveal the noise level 😞
While I only show the car in a neighborhood, my comments reflect all driving conditions. I had to drive 15 miles on I-90 (which is concrete) to get to that location for example. Accords are significantly quieter now compared to a generation or two back. Sorry to hear it doesn't live up to your expectations. Curious what your previous car was.
The Accord hybrid 2.0 2023-24 has a heated steering wheel. I like it very much. Maybe a little more power would be nice. I am use too driving the 2.0T sport and the V6 Accord with a stick. 😊

There have three times in my life when I was THIS close to buying an Accord. Between bad dealerships and other issues (the wagon road noise was unbearable), I always ended up in something else. The cars have always been great, other than road noise.
@@DrivenCarReviews My 10th gen Accord 2.0t Touring has to be the quietest Accord I have ever owned. It's not BMW quiet, but I didn't pay $50k for the car so I'll take it. This is my third Accord by the way (7th gen, 9th gen and now 10th gen).
I wish they'd kept the Clarity going; love our 2018, and I wish I could buy a successor in the next few years. Basically an Accord hybrid with a gigantic battery.

One "correction" to what you mentioned about having to reset the regenerative braking control after stepping on the accelerator: there is a way to set it for the duration of that trip (basically until you turn the car off). I only have the car for one day now, but I believe the way to do this is to hold the left paddle for a few seconds when you press it for the first time.

I don’t really get the point of the regen paddles. Pressing the brake pedal activates regen anyway (blended braking). I guess the paddles are only useful going down long hills where you don’t want to hold your foot on the brake pedal.

@DrivenCarReviews If it’s full-on one-pedal driving, that makes sense. But here the regen is not strong enough to eliminate the need to press the brake pedal. So if I’m slowing, I’m pressing the brakes, which activates regen anyway. I think Honda engineers had the same argument, hence the “odd” behavior you mentioned at 5:50. They figured regen paddle usage is only temporary for going down long hills and your foot is tired of pressing the brake pedal. When you reach the bottom, you want the always-on regen setting cleared so you can drive like “normal” again.
@@TheEquationSlayer I'm curious why full one pedal driving isn't offered. Seems like it should be easy to implement. Frankly, I think owners want a consistent experience which is why I didn't like the dynamic Honda is offering.
I own this Accord (came from a 2020 2.0T Touring) and am quite pleased with it! One thing to point out regarding the regen paddles - if you hold the left paddle, it will go in to “M” mode (manual, I guess?) and will stay with whichever level you want. This will turn off with the car, but super easy to turn on each drive. Great review, BTW,
Love my 2024 Touring. Getting 41plus MPG, while not trying. Added a JL subwoofer and the Bose syatem is very nice. Really enjoying the ride, technology and $40 visits to the gas station. Great review.

Although I'm a truck person, this review is top notch.
I have a 2024 Accord EX and took a trip to Kentucky from New York city this was my first long term trip and going there I averaged 35.6 MPG and my return trip when I pulled into my garage it averaged 40.7 MPG and I'm average 37 MPG while in the city so I am very satisfied with my Accord and hope to get better mileage in the future.

The Accord Crosstour and Acura ZDX counterpart, were ahead of their time. Every time I see one I have to take a second look thinking it’s a new model from Honda. Is battery lifetime still a thing for hybrids? I remember when hybrids first came out, they said they had a 10 year lifetime until the battery died.
It’s supposed to be longer than 10 years now, but so many of these systems are new and we don’t know if some companies aren’t doing it right for longevity.
There are tens of thousands Leafs, Prisi, & Teslas that have gone well beyond 10 yrs. The early demise of batteries was way overprojected.
Battery life is tied to number of cycles. Hybrids are easier on batteries than pure EVs.
Good review. I've owned a 2023 Honda Accord Touring for three months and I love the heck out of the luxurious, quiet, tight cornering and driving more every day. The exterior is, let's face it, the very definition of bland. Shrug. A gray paint job looks pretty cool, tho. The lack of a spare tire is a huge drawback. I live in Houston and you simply do NOT drive around without a spare! Fortunately, the big foam insert lifts right out and the space fits an aftermarket spare tire and kit perfectly (just as if Honda knew that's what people really wanted--wink, wink, nudge, nudge.) Oddly, no remote control for a garage opener--even my old 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid had one. All the bells and whistles take awhile to learn and appreciate, but the touch panel makes it easy. Lovin' the heck out of this car.

@@destroyerofsimps6574 Depends, of course. But I'm easily getting over 35 mpg even on short hops. I literally just filled the tank for the first time just last week. I figure I would get over 40 mpg easy if I drove more. A good compromise between gasoline and electric, I think.

Good review Tom. Honda is sticking with the Earth Dreams Technology which is direct fuel injection, a turbo and a CVT. I test drove a new 2021 gas CR V and I couldn’t tell it wasn’t a conventional transmission that’s how good they are. I have two Hondas and they have been the best cars we have ever had for reliability and low maintenance. Nice to drive too. I feel that in Canada though the price for the new Hybrid Touring is around $51,900 it’s too much. I have to admit I like the new styling a lot but would go for the RAV4 if I had to make a decision. The RAV4 has a very good hybrid system which has all the bugs worked out of it by now. Just can’t swallow that high price for the CR V.
Hold down the left regen paddle until M appears. Once the M shows up on your display you can save your regen settings until the car is turned off.

Honda's AWD is not even close to AWD offered by other Manufactures. Honda has always been FWD bias 98% of the time. So there isn't really AWD when it comes to Honda. Also it just adds weight to the car and that kills your MPG overall.
I never thought I'd be considering a crossover. Currently own a 2021 Subaru Legacy. I like sedans - the seating position, the handling, the better fuel economy, etc... That said, I recently drove a Hyundai Santa Fe rental. After a few days I could appreciate sitting up higher and how easy it was to slide in and out of the driver's seat (well, my middle age knees and lower back appreciated it). Plus how easy it is to stuff a lot of cargo in the rear. I can safely say my next vehicle will be a crossover. I get it now.
Yeah, there's a reason why SUVs are slaying it. And it's not just the US. It's all over the world. Sedans have more secure cargo areas though.
Have you considered a lifted wagon, like a Volvo XC or Subaru Outback? I found personally when I owned a Volvo XC70, the difference was noticeable compared to the V70 I had before it. In my opinion, it gave up a bit less in terms of driving dynamics, and it’s not as mainstream. I know that the Volvo XCs are a bit more expensive, but the Outback isn’t bad at all!

CR-V makes for a nice crossover from a sedan 🚙
The Legacy has a higher driver position than most sedans ,it also has half inch or better ground clearance. It's much more comfortable than the Accord .

Its 0-60 second time is closer to TWO seconds more than that of the 2.0T which was and is a superb engine and a joy to drive. Too bad the environmentalists killed it as they have killed every other thing that gave us joy.
Love the review! Looking for a new car the Accord was one of my cheaper options but I hate the shape of most modern cars and the stuck on display look. I'd rather they would just leave the screen off.

Yes I'm disappointed the PHEV drivetrain from the now discontinued Clarity (47 mile electric range) didn't move to Accord.
I agree in principle, but not in your facts. The first generation of the iMMD drive train was the 2014-15 Accord PHEV. They dropped it from the lineup for 2016, but added it back (second gen) in 2017 as just a HEV. Third gen was in various models between 2018 and 2022, including the Clarity PHEV. I think Honda needs better marketing, because the Clarity was a "test the waters" imitation of the Accord, coming in PHEV, FCEV, and BEV versions. AS with anything where you try out too many options, in limited areas, it didn't sell well.
But the point is that Honda is clearly testing the waters. CAFE requirements have driven the switch from the options (1.5T, 2.0T, and 2.0 Hybrid) to two in the Accord, and I'm sure BEV versions (maybe PHEV) are coming. But Honda moves slowly.
Honda on the Civic has a PHEV in Europe now. So the US should get the PHEV on Civic this year 2023, then the Accord should get it in 2025 more than likely.
I really enjoyed see the neighborhood that you drove through. Great looking homes. Where is that? I had a Honda 2019 Accord Touring Hybrid and the great 500 mile range and typically 44 miles per gallon on the flat, I did really enjoy the car. But I've had some knee problems and it was just to hard to get into and out of. I had to lay down to do it. So I sold it for almost what I paid for it (minus the sales tax) and bought a Tesla Model Y performance with full self driving. The model Y is much higher and easier to get into because of what Tesla calls "Easy Entry" that moves the seat and the steering wheel out of the way and then resets it once you put your foot on the break to activate the car. It seems on some Honda models, the EX-L is now the new Touring. It seems things that used to be expected in higher trims and the concept of getting more with each generation is going backwards.
I feel like Honda saves some stuff for Acura. Trouble is, there is no Acura equivalent of Accord anymore.
6:25 Road Noise: I’m very happy to hear Honda addressed this. I traded-in my 2020 Accord 2.0MT6 because of the horrible road noise. I made money on the deal due to funny COVID used car pricing, but I loved everything else about that Accord!

The 10th gen is much quieter than 9th, so the 11th gen hopefully will finally put to rest the "Hondas have significant road noise" Con.
"Camry is soft and slower. Accord is louder and faster." These days the Camry isn't that soft riding and now maybe the Accord is finally quiet enough to carry on a conversation at highway speeds.
I will add that different trim levels get different amounts of noise abatement. Didn't make that clear in the vid.
People say it looks bland. I disagree I think among all the over-styled car designs we see these days it looks timeless and will age well. I also think it looks great in motion.

Hey Tom, I’m comparing to Camry and it would of been great had you discussed the collisions avoidance systems in that Accord. The Camry brakes and turns the front wheels to avoid accidents. Does the accord? How about automatic lane guidance?

I agree with you Tom, what's with those silver plastic inlets in the front fascias of some Hondas - including this Accord? It is off putting, especially when so many vehicles are going to black grilles and trim. It was nice to see the sun shining in this video 👍 Also, I just want to say that you are the better looking of you and your twink, I mean twin 😁
By the way, I bought a new second-gen Accord three-door hatchback in 1982 (when that was the only Accord body style) and I loved it. Wished I had bought other new Hondas after that, but I just couldn't afford them, or so I thought. I went with Chevy's and paid a lot in repairs - so much so that they would have paid the difference, and pay for a trip to the moon 🙄
I nearly bought one of those 2-doors as my first new car. That silver-ish blue paint. Unfortunately when I showed up to actual buy it, the dealership slipped in a $1,000 ADM to the negotiated price. I walked. They had the nerve to call and threaten me for not buying the car I committed to. As a 20 yo I was intimidated, major league. I had to unwind the financing and insurance too. Nightmare.
I wish the made a PHEV version of this. This type of drive train is so nice and handles much better than Toyota. I liked the clarity with the exception of its tiny 7g gas tank.

The hybrid seems to be the way to go. More powerful and more efficient than the standard gas engine. Could prove more reliable too, with no transmission and less stress on the gas engine.

The EX-L trim has 50 mpg city, 44 mpg highway. 17" wheels are more quiet, cheaper and better fuel economy. Since there is no AWD, 17" snow tires will be cheaper too. Other than ventilated seats, the touring doesn't offer anything extra imo

hi.. Hold the left paddle for at least 3 seconds to keep the regeneration to activate the manual cancellation instead of getting automatically cancelled when you press the accelerator.
You can cancel it by pressing the right paddle.
Yeah, when I ran that by Honda I was told only Sport mode would hold it. I had already given the car back and couldn't confirm either way. Thanks.

I had 2 crosstour It was a pretty good vehicle. But the CRV sales were insane it made business sense to turn crosstour plant to make CRV
If Honda had improved the Crosstour and still made the CRV the now 3rd generation Crosstour would compete with premium crosses making Honda far more money per unit. I don't understand how a company can be so stupid and build a one and done rather than improve.
That body style leaves a lot to be desired, mainly that tail end. I felt the '22 body style was much better. We recently purchased a CRV Hybrid and while just about everything on the lot was already sold, there was no shortage of these.
efficiency is the name of the game, embrace this body style and enjoy the MPGs!
Test drove an EX-L hybrid (I think). Road noise seemed excessive. I will need to test drive again.
In quality and design Honda is at least 5 years ahead of Toyota. Honda interior and exterior design is awesome, a lot of thoughts put into place in designing of Honda vehicles. If I have a choice between buying Honda and Toyota in same class of vehicles, I would pick Honda hands down.

9:48 I’m not into filmography or anything but am always impressed by your production value even if I don’t know what I’m looking for. In these backseat shots and similar it often seems you’re voicing over but have the hand movements set. If that is the case, do you set the script, take the scene with throwaway audio, then add in a voiceover?
If you're talking about Evil Twin, he's lazy to come in for a voice over so he does everything to camera.

Designwise, for me this car is perfect. Honda nailed it
Simulate shift on a car with no transmission gear (well there is one gear or maybe two with this new design), I don't understand. I love the smooth power delivery of the electric motor of my Clarity. No changing gears.
I concur that in this class, the Accord is king. Handling is best in class. Speed is fine. MPGs are spot on, while aesthetically it elbows the dated Camry right into the ditch. But AWD would be nice.

Accord is DONE! it was “beaten” back in 2018 when they started with the CVT and eliminated the 6 cylinder engine

@@johnhowardesq I once sold cars for a living ( don't hold that against me) We had three of these come thru the lot in the year I was there. I sold all three of them. Literally the most difficult part was getting someone to spend a few minutes driving it and then showing them the functionality of it. If I could do that, it wa more than enough to overcome the unconventional styling

Not the benchmark for me. I drove 3 of these, and many other cars before buy my K5. I needed a car for work that was great riding on the highway. The 2023 Accord wasn't even as good as the 2023 Civic I was considering. I have had my K5 for about 3 months now, and 10,000 miles. Great on the highway, and good gas mileage.
Going to the Dealership to order this Tour model… any concerns regarding battery replacement (cost? expected mileage?). Ps… thoughts on upgrading wheels to HPO option? TIA
You won't need to deal with the hybrid battery unless you put over 250K miles on it. Wheels are a personal thing.
Are the lower trim Accord hybrids also quiet? It sounds like only the Touring has acoustic laminated glass but does the lower trims also have the added sound deadening material that you mentioned, so are the lower trim also relatively quiet?
On the regenerating braking paddles, you said one of your gripes is thar it resets to normal when you hit the accelerator. I think the reset is a good thing, you don't want to think the car will brake normally but instead stops abruptly because you forgot you hit the paddle to maximum on you last stop or hit the paddle to slow the car down on a curve (kind of downshifting a manual), which brings me to the question, will the left paddle slowdown the car(not stopping it)without stepping on the brake?
I haven't been able to drive an ICE Accord. I assume it won't be as quiet.
So how does it compare to its main competitor Camry Hybrid XLE?
The Camry has more options in the XLE trim and can potentially save you thousands of dollars over the Accord Touring. It also has more color choices for the leather interior, and most of all, Camry has port-injection engine which will significantly reduce carbon buildup! (Honda has direct-injection only.)
So many variables. It's up to the shopper to decide. For the average buyer, the injection method means nothing. Styling, interior appointments and brand loyalty are much higher up the list. And it might have one more color choice but the grey is bland and the red is retina searing. Honda's interior designers are arguably better.
I test drove both cars before purchasing my Honda Accord Touring Hybrid back in Feb. I was one of the first in Michigan to own the new gen. Compared to the current gen Camry, the Accord feels so much more upscale and new. The powertrain is unbelievably refined and buttery smooth. I can't say the same of the Camry. My wife has been driving the Accord mostly and is getting 55-57 mpg (90% city). I did "downgrade" the 19" wheels and tires to a 17" combo to help achieve that efficiency. The funny thing is my wife never uses the regen paddles. Just drives it normally like any other traditional ICE vehicle. There are 11th gen owners over on some social media forums that are achieving over 60 mpg's with city driving. Impressive to say the least. Plus this new generation of Accords feels so much more refined and mature over the competition. We also test drove the Hyundai Sonata hybrid too. It was feature packed but felt like driving a lower class of vehicle. I think the new Accord (especially in the touring trim) is the best balance of upscale, drivability, interior comforts, and economy.

Great question. I extensively shopped and drove both The Camry XLE Hybrid and the Accord Touring Hybrid when I could find them. Near the time of my purchase, Toyota was not making the XLE for the most part. Only LE and XSE. I wanted no part of the XSE with the 19" wheels and tires due to reduced efficiency and increase road noise. Of course, then I go and buy the Accord Touring with the 19" wheels! Duh. It actually came down to availability. Here are key differences between Accord Touring and Camry XLE / XSE IMHO:
Accord easily wins the technology and entertainment category.
Accord wins for interior and trunk space.
Camry wins for highway fuel economy.
Accord arguably better handling and ride.
Toyota wins for more proven hybrid technology and reliability.
Accord has no Homelink or height adjustment for front passenger seat.
Camry no driver seat memory.
As for appearance, well, that is highly subjective.

I wished we had this car in Europe. Really considering importing one at some point (Canadian market version because of km/h). It is a great looking car. Good replacement for my 2018 Volvo V40.
The problems I find with the 2023 Honda Accord: 1. No All Wheel Drive is available 2. No heated steering Wheel is available 3. No spare tire is available 4. No XM Radio in vehicles sold in the USA (Available in Canada, If you can do it in Canada why not the US) . If a 2023 or 2024 car missing all of these features is fine for you, then get one. Hopefully, by the time 2025 comes around these deficiencies will be resolved. Latest Nws is that as of January 2024 you can purchase from Honda a spare tire kit for about $500.
No heated steering wheel is a deal breaker to me
As an owner of an electric car, I have been waiting for Honda to come out with an ALL electric Accord. When they do that, I will buy right away as long as they don't pump artificial sounds into the cabin with fake engine shifts. It's a Honda Accord. Does anyone want fake engine shifts and artificial engine sounds on hard throttle?? I want the cabin to be as quiet as possible. Isn't that the point?
Does it not have turn signals? Your driver (Rob) never used them.
My last car buying experience was 14 months ago. Wanted a high gas mileage sedan, used but no more than 5 years old. Surprisingly (at the time) the local CarMax was quoting prices as good as anywhere local to me. Really like the selection they had too. Went there for a Civic listed. I am 6'5" and definitely not a broom handle. Could NOT comfortably sit in a Civic. Knee and leg room near non-existent for me. Tried an Accord and found it some better, but a long way from acceptable. Tried a Fusion, 'livable' as far as room, but plain, ugly and a bit old. Tried a Camry and Altima, again, 'OK' room but pricey. Left there in a Chevrolet Malibu. Interior design could not be better for me. Turbo 1.5L is good power and I regularly see 38/40 MPG on my 55/65 MPH 40 mile commute. Atrocious cabin noise though, gotta play the radio (Carplay!) loud.

Does it have more road noise than the Camry hybrid? Also, Honda cvts are known to be very loud unlike the ones from Toyota.
I did not drive them back to back, sorry. In Touring trim, road noise is well managed. Accord Hybrid does not have a CVT.
How much do,you,really save with the initial inflated price and a battery that lasts 8 years if,you’re lucky and very expensive to replace. I’m not sold on the hybrid model
If you remove performance from the metric this is the best accord ever made no doubt chassis is better mpg is amazing looks are subjective interior is more refined
I’m going to push back on this review a little bit. The gentleman is driving on quiet neighborhood streets. Take the Accord onto the freeway, especially concrete, and you will hear an incredible amount of road noise in the cabin. The 19” wheels are a big mistake in my opinion. You feel every single bump in the road with those wheels and factory tires.
I’m about 3000 miles into a 2024 hybrid touring and now shopping for a 2022 Lexus instead. I’m gonna take a big hit financially, yet my very sanity at stake! The 20 minute Test drive just wasn’t enough to reveal the noise level 😞
While I only show the car in a neighborhood, my comments reflect all driving conditions. I had to drive 15 miles on I-90 (which is concrete) to get to that location for example. Accords are significantly quieter now compared to a generation or two back. Sorry to hear it doesn't live up to your expectations. Curious what your previous car was.
The Accord hybrid 2.0 2023-24 has a heated steering wheel. I like it very much. Maybe a little more power would be nice. I am use too driving the 2.0T sport and the V6 Accord with a stick. 😊
I believe it is a dealer installed option. It wasn’t on the option list when I was producing the video.
I’ll always be missing the 3.5 v6. Great car anyway
The 2.0t is a better powertrain with the 10 speed tranny.
@@sn4rl277 I owned Honda Accords since 1996. Most of them were 3.5 V6 or the 2.0t Now... I will not buy this slow huge cow on a thingy little engine, thats for sure. Bye Honda....
