Thank you for the comment, and I very much appreciate your humility. Although Dave and Simon weren't ultimately in favor of the ProVolver, they still had a lot to like about it. I'm likely not the target audience for items like the ForceTube or ProVolver (I bought both) since I don't play Onward, etc., and wanted my review to reflect the more casual VR player. I hope you saw the fun they had with the ProVolver, and they very much appreciated the build quality, which says a lot as they're both engineers. My desire was to balance their review with my comments at the end, as I think it's fun, solid product, and I think I did that. If you're able to get the price down by changing the form factor or mechanics in some way, I think you'd have a bigger hit, especially as the ProVolver can be extended with the additional front grip. What can I do as an owner of the ProVolver, and content creator, to get more developers, like the makers of Pistol Whip, to incorporate it in their games on the Quest?
@@KingofNerds thank you for this feedback 🙂 We are aware that the price of these products can be an obstacle. We try to do our best on this matter. For example, we managed to reduce the price of the latest version of the ForceTube by 50 €.
@@KingofNerds Yeah I thought about it and I came to the conclusion that if only they increased the force feedback in the controllers, that would solve the need of wanting gun stocks. When you have that mechanical feedback, the brain will do the rest. But it’s kinda weak out of the box.
Just bought mine. Yes, it's expensive but I can't make one myself. And until a competitor joins the market, price will stay where it is. I'm fine with it and having an absolute blast with all of my haptic toys - ForceTube, Provolver and various bHaptics accessories. It's expensive to be a first adopter, but worth it in my view
Good perspectives. They've pretty much echoed all my guesses about the product without having tried it. I'd still like to one day, but it's not a "must have" it seems
I asked the guys to 'give a thumbs up, or thumbs down' at the end, not realizing how harsh the 'thumbs down' would appear in context. Price aside, I think it's a solid accessory, especially if it gets more properly implemented game support. If you come across a used one for that price, AND you have a game in mind that has it implemented, then I think it's totally worth it. Let me know if you ever do. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Great and honnest review. You guys should definitely give a shot with the front bracket extension to use it as a 2 hands weapon + ProStraps to increase comfort and durability. Also this is kind of normal your experience has been much better in Crisis Vrigade since it supports a native integration for the provolver.
I have ordered the front attachment. I plan to make another video with the exact same guys. What games on the quest or PC would you say best showcase the ProVolver?
The added recoil for immersion is kind of cool. But I don't think I would want to spend the $300 on it. Even if I was extremely heavy into shooters I would probably not want to pay that much for it. I just remember the gun attachment for the Wii and how well that worked.
The recoil and weight are much appreciated. It feels very nice in-hand, and is well made - so I think it earns a lot of that $300; I think it's just not made for many people, at least with the current software line-up. I'm glad they're trying, and with an expanded game support I think they are onto something that it likely wanted by more people than the larger rifles used in Pavlov, Onward, and Contractor$.
ProTube said they're working on a way to get the cost down. I think the cost is possibly a first run problem, and v2 should come down in price a good bit. We'll see for sure!
You don't need the second controller to shoot a machine gun. Drop the controller, but physically hold the Pro Volver with your second hand, it feels perfect.
Totally correct. For the cost to mount the second controller I felt it was worth trying out, but you're 100% right that it's not necessary. Do you have one?
@@KingofNerds Not yet, but my friend does. I LOVE it. I recently got a haptic vest and thos is next on my list. I'm just launching a new games magazine so hopefully it can be an expense 😂😂😂
Hi, huge thx for this detailed review, to bad you don't have the magnet front bracket to handle 2 handed guns (this would make the experience way better with rifles) Ps : The Prostrap can also help a lot for comfort
I appreciate your kind words. If I were to acquire the front bracket and ProStrap, and made an updated review video, what games/experiences would you feel best show the capabilities of the ProVolver, and implementation of the ProVolver API on both the Quest and PC?
Hi, did you have to install the MelonLoader mod on PC for Pistol Whip? I don't see Pistol Whip on the list of natively supported games so I assume you can't play natively on the headset
Really appreciate this review! the ass kissing from other reviewers almost got me to buy it. and Yeah I did wonder myself if that thing is not too front heavy. So, I suppose the design still needs work, hope the devs get back to the drawing board and make the proper updates. In my humble opinion this should have had an option to mount a stock on it and turn in into a rifle. So ..for now skip buy.. but I would definitely watch them closely. Thanks again!
Hey, sorry for the late reply. You slip the controller into the 3D printed cup, and then connect the haptic device. It's really very simple once you have it in-hand. Do you plan on buying one?
Hey Rob, you have to first pair the ProVolver with your Quest in Settings, then need a game that supports the ProVolver, like Crisis VRigade 2, which you can find at the link below. Le the know what you find! www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/5167901379894551/
All of these god damned channels reviewing the thing but not a single one on how to USE it in Quest 2! PLEASE make a tutorial. Connecting it to bluetooth is not the only step required. I cant get the damned thing to work but not a SINGLE person has created a step by step guide on how to get it running. I beg of you.
Hey Shane, I’m with you, it’s a bit more complicated on the Quest due to a lack of a good indicator that it’s connected over Bluetooth, and then an app has to support it, and even if it does, they don’t necessarily communicate they’ve detected the ProVolver. Essentially put the ProVolver into Bluetooth pairing mode, go to Settings on the Quest, pair the ProVolver with the Quest, then open a game that supports it. Crisis VRigade 2 is the game I’ve used the most. It’s on App Lab at www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/5167901379894551/. Try that specifically with Crisis VRigade 2 and let me know what you find.
You can buy 2 real guns for the price of this toy. You can easily pick up 2 heritage .22 caliber revolvers for 300 dollars. There's plenty of good used shotguns and rifles for around that price too. These prices are unacceptable, they have to be marking the prices up 20 times the manufacturing price.
I'm with you. It's definitely one of those things where if you have the money, and you want some form of kick to add immersion to a game, then I think it does the job and it's worth it, but otherwise it's far too pricey even for those with the money.
It does! I truly think it’s a capable accessory, and well built, but just too much for most people. I also don’t think we are the target audience, but our review is still valid for the average Oculus user looking to augment their gameplay experience. For Onward and Pavlov players, $300 is likely much more acceptable.
Thank you for this honest review 🙏

I just got into VR and I realize that it's best to stick to the regular controllers.
I agree with that. The accessories are nice, but usually remove some functionality in the process.

How much is the provolver in us currency
It’s $330 now on their website. www.protubevr.com/en/vr-accessories/112-provolver-for-meta-oculus-quest-3.html
You can probably get a real Glock 19 for the same price as the provolver
