Every man/woman/child who's stuck in the trap of politics NEEDS to listen to this. I say that because all of them absolutely hate whoever opposes them. They take everything personally as if they're actually gonna do something about it other than argue in comments on the internet.
They have to figure that out for themselves by going through the frustrations of constantly fearing the other side.
Really needed this one today. Had my first date in a really long time. Thought it went so well but she ended up ghosting. This whole week I’ve been trying to nitpick at what I did wrong, but honestly I didn’t. And yet I picked myself apart for it. Gravemind always seems to churn out content that means something to me at the exact right time. It’s kind of odd haha.

A week ago i was wrongly accused of things at work that quickly escalated to me leaving the job and pursuing a new career. I've spent the last week trying hard to follow these ideals and to remember that their false perceptions are their responsibility and have nothing to do with me. It's so hard not to give into rancor and bile and just be resentful, but I wont forget the things I've learned here and elsewhere. Stay strong everyone.

I love the takeaway of this episode. It amazes me that this agrees to an idea I can across while listening to others speakers and reflecting while journaling. The foundation of our self
worth must come from within. The self respect must be internal because if it must be able to withstand opposition. No weapons formed against us, no critic , no self doubt, or any other hurdle can be allowed to inflict a fatal blow on our self esteem. If it does, our sense of self worth was not that strong to begin with. What use would we have for a house that cannot stand against the storm? Is it not the same for us too? Good or bad. Praise or criticism. We cannot rely on validation from others. We can decide to not take criticism personally but what about praise? I love that this episode touched on that too. Others can think fantastic things about us. They can say the nicest things! Great! But what do we say about ourselves? Do we love ourselves? How do we talk to ourselves? What is the narrative of our inner dialogue? This makes me think of a quote from a speaker, “ What you say about you matters more than what they say about you”. It’s true. We can accept praise from others and be thankful for it, but we should not rely on it. We can praise and validate ourselves from within. We don’t need to be adored by others when we take care of our self.

I agree that taking your emotions out of heated situations can quickly dissolve the issue.
But I feel this video should be taken with a grain a salt, especially the "I'm not hurting you, my words just touched a wound that you have". Isn't that the same thing? If your friend, family, lover, or even a stranger says they are hurt by your words, the response shouldn't be this cold. "Don't take it personally". You should be compassionate and understanding.
Also, when you do "take it personally", analyze your emotions. It will give you insight on who you are. You don't grow by ignoring everything that bothers you, you grow by learning why it bothers you.

Nice timing. I work with a lot of customers and I got cussed at today. I kept cool and worked at it, because anger is not worth it anymore, and I have been working on my personality, I took it in stride, I said it is fine and I emphasized with her. Every other time in the past, I got angry and was letting it get to me. Now? I move on.

I dont think thats what it was about. Its not about not defending yourself, but not letting beliefs of others destroy you...
You cant understand very well if you never was traumatized ig... Like imagine, you are a "weak nerd", part of the problem they stay in that situation is believing on what people tell to them, that they are weak, that they cant be like X or Y.
Remember when american cartoons sort of created archetypes? So the strong guy was dumb, the smart guy was weak. That sort of thing.
That's my interpretation only though.
I think this pattern of thought can be weaponized, at some point once you get punched, you will just move on and punch your opponent whitout a second thought, just wanting to win.

Amen ive known this channel since 2021 when i first came across it working in the mines. Been young this was amazing food for thought although i didnt fully take it on board i guess or more so i wasnt in a vulnerable situation. Fast forward that same year i met who i thought was the love of my life. 3 years later and now shes gone. Cheated with another guy.
It was tough for abit but its only how i take it. I strive for myself now knowing it will help those i care about meet and have met.

Taoism and Stoicism strongly advocate rationality and emotional control; Lao Tzu wrote that if you care about people's opinions you'll be their prisoner and Marcus Aurelius wrote that if someone insults you, be glad he doesn't truly know you otherwise he would have pointed out the rest of your flaws.
As with everything else in philosophy, people all over the world throughout human history independently came to the same simple answers to life's questions but it's as if the collective human culture keeps forgetting. It's annoying.
