If you’re asked this question your interview wants to assess.
This question is a little different to most. It's not assessing your competency so its, not a competency-based interview question - it's not asking to talk about time when you did something to demonstrate a skill, so it's not a situational interview question its not asking about your behaviors or your attitude so its not a behavioral interview question. It’s assessing your goals and aspirations.
Your interviewer might also ask what is your career plan, what are your future plans, what is your ideal career, what are your plans for the future and any question about your career goals and aspirations.
