You Welcome Kevin , appreciate the comment .. I will be publishing some running sessions of my layout soon ... Can't wait to run some trains ... lol ..- Regards, Anthony .
Thanks William - The floral foam is very cheap ( Can be purchased from a Dollar store ) and definitely rivals commercially available products which are magnitudes more expensive ... - Hope you give it a shot - Regards, Anthony .
Your welcome Glen , I'm glad you found it useful . I just could not justify the cost for ready made trees .. I had to find a way to accomplish the same ..
Nice looking trees Anthony. I used green ply fill and made a ball, then stretched it over the armature. with a little hair spray, I threw the ball into a container of fine green foam and walla - instant tree. BUT I will also try the floral foam technique with 2 varieties of rasped foam and the 2 paints as well. This is a variation of your ground foam mat which also turns out very well. What do you recommend for pine trees? I am modeling a large valley with over 300 trees and cover. Bob S
Hi Rob, thanks for nice comments . Nothing makes me or happier than to share techniques and learn from other modelers as well . This way we all learn from each other without having to pay the exorbitant prices for commercially manufactured model trees etc. For pine trees , I did something similar . I will send you a few picture if you give me your email ( mine is : Anthonyb1019@gmail.com) . These are not the best pine trees, but they turn on fairly ok. What i do is , i take a pine tree armature, and then ( just as you did ) take small amount of poly fill and wrap it around lightly around the armature . You do it such that the top is more tightly wound and bottom more loosely wound.( to get that conical shape ) . then you sprinkle some floral foam give it some body , and then add a bit of spray pain . then I took a scissor and give it some snips horizontally at various alternating levels to create that tiered branch effect . it is much more easier than making the deciduous trees. Send me your email and I will send you some pics . Regards, - Anthony -
Je vous remercie pour vos aimables paroles. Les troncs d'arbres (armatures) peuvent être achetés en vrac dans les magasins de bricolage. Salutations, Antoine
Thank you David ... Much appreciated ... I haven't got much time lately , but will looking to upload more vids soon .. thanks for you support . I have sub'd to your channel as well . You definitely have a well established following , with some very good content I must add ... Regards, Anthony ..
Actually I use poly fill and some floral foam . the Spray paint does not effect it in any way . The trees have been on my layout for a while now .. no issues .
ROFL .... It's funny Ken , cause that's exactly what happened to my old pillow .. It suddenly wasn't comfortable enough to sleep on .... So it became my donor for the polyester Fill .. That's the story I told the Wifey , and I am sticking to it ... LOL ... BTW: the same poly fill works great for ground cover ( simulate shrubs ) ( I do have a vid on that as well ) . I'm also experimenting with Polyester fill to make a Weeping Willow tree for the layout ... will share that with you , if you are interested .. Regards - Anthony .
Very clever and innovative Anthony, thanks for sharing, you're a clever fella.

Thank you for your kind words , much appreciated.
That is a very interesting way to make trees using the floral foam. Really neat.

C'est vraiment très intéressant et j'ai beaucoup aimé et apprécié. Où trouver l'arbre en métal?
