      @@HunterMagunter He left Toronto because Edmonton saw him as a guy worth $5.5 Million AAV for the next 7 years ... The leafs had the money to sign him but they didn't view him in the same light that Edmonton does ... They weren't willing to give him term beyond 4 years and AAV beyond $4 million. I love Zach Hyman for his versatility and his work ethic .. His willingness to go get pucks out of the tough spots. He will be a fan favorite by November 1st. He wouldn't have taken the deal if he wasn't guaranteed to be playing on Conner McGretzky's left side. The guy could be a 35-40 goal scorer if he is healthy playing in that spot. I wish Zach the best and know he will be a key cog in Edmonton's offence.

    • @blackphantom2307
      @blackphantom2307 2 года назад

      @@slipperynodd578 nobody has said this in Edmonton except delusional biased fans. Any true hockey fan with actual knowledge knows we have not had depth. Me personally I wanted us to beat Winnipeg because Winnipeg’s defense core is absolute trash, and that was all I thought we would accomplish, nothing more with the depth we have. Sure enough Hellebuyck carries and Winnipeg plays a shell which playing that style gets them swept by Montreal. There are massive additions on the left side that people are going to get a wake up call to. Our left side was so bad that we had to put Nuge on the top line when he’s a Center… If you still are going to underestimate the Oilers you will be in for a rude awakening because for the first time in McDavid and Drai’s careers it looks like they both will have competent wingers with a legitimate third line. Not saying this automatically means winning a cup, but there’s playoff domination coming at you very fast.

      He’s going to have a very specific role which makes me think he’s going to be quite a strong player. His role is already guaranteed on the powerplay in front of the net screening, going for putbacks and open net front chances. Also a strong forechecker which we are weaker at. McDavid set up Lucic countless times and he just couldn’t bury them, so we can expect the same with Hyman. If Hyman even buries a quarter of his grade A chances he’s going to have monster numbers.

Instead take a REALLY good look at how covid created this Global Pandemic which had a large domino effect in all business but especially sports entertainment and for sake of this thread NHL hockey In particular.Given the HARD CAP that the players and owners came to an agreement on in the last few CBA agreements. I would love no cap again some day.. won't happen but it would be nice. If they can really make at least another Conference final minimum. That's as far as my favorite team since Pocklington Sold 99 to Bruce McNall in LA.in 87 which was when I was 9. I liked Russ Courtnall from Toronto so I started cheering for them. I'm 43 (you do the math) I saw them in 2 Western Conference finals and 2 Eastern Conference finals 1993:Kerry Fraser stole what was a great run by a rather average team with One superstar center a good but plain Jane D core and A hot shot young next big goal tender outta Quebec standing on his head sorta like the team that won that Year.

    It just cracks me up he said he wants to go somewhere to win...and chooses the Oilers lol. You chased the $$$ bro stop lying. Almost 20 teams were interested in this guy and so many of them are better than the Oilers or even Leafs.

      ??? What player WOULDN'T want to play along side McDavid and Draisaitl to build a team together? If the money is decent. Why not?
      The reason Edmonton was not in the playoffs or have not gone far is because of depth problems. That is with every team that struggles. Now that the Oilers have arguably the best two forwards in the league. You bet there are players that will want to join them.

    Happy with his choice ? I think he is happy with the over payment. Good for him , in a cap world teams can’t really pay this guy his contract he got, especially his history with injuries, all players deserved to get paid more then they do , but hard cap is a hard cap. They are going to regret this contact in the later years , the way Zack plays the game is selfless, he has way more miles on that body then people think.

  • @tdunph4250
    @tdunph4250 2 года назад

    Zach won't last the whole term of his contract. He is becoming more injury prone as he gets older and he's not going to be as productive of a playmaker as he once was within 2-3 years. Don't get me wrong, I loved watching him with the Leafs and he is going to be spectacular with Connor and Draisaitl but he ain't getting any younger and I believe he is going to start coming out of his prime soon. It is what it is.

      He only picked the oilers so his annual head start on golf season can start a couple weeks sooner now. Oilers love overpaying locker room guys in free agency, pretty much the only free agents that go to Edmonton.
