I wouldn't mind the charging speed as I am home charging anyway. The base prices of both versions are indeed acceptable. I like the design too. Now for the downsides... First the nett weight of the larger battery SE is over 1600 kg! Unacceptable for such a small car... And no, it's not the battery as Mini would like you to believe. The battery is only responsible for about 100 kg of the extra weight compared to the outgoing model which weighs 235 kg less... Second issue: the option politics or dare I say, the lack there off.. Don't fancy the pitiful 16" rims of the base model? Get a complete upgrade pack to get to the nicer 18" on this test car. It's ridiculous. After I was done with the configurator, ending up with a quote costing 40-50% over base model since I wanted the premium sound quality which obliged me to get full full spec, I got the response from the sales person that the color combination I picked (JCW trim - white body with red roof) would probably not be produced until 2025 if any... I decided not to order. This Chinese cooperation is a disaster. I am hoping the A290 will be less of a fuss so I can order that in stead. Weighs 100 kg less with 2 extra doors and gorgeous 19" rims as standard...

@@kazuya14 You are right, the optional 18" will push the weight even further up. The R5 EV has 18" standard and weighs 1450 kg. None of the test event cars had the 16", which is telling.

This car will do great in the Chinese market. Sadly to me it looks bulky and bleated. Even if I could afford one, I'd never buy it
