I took delivery of my 2021 Mini Cooper SE in November 2020. 16,000+ miles ZERO-trouble miles later, the car is a dream to drive. It's difficult to NOT smile every time you drive the Mini electric - it is that much fun. Yes, the short range can be a dealbreaker for some, but it's an in-town commuter car for me, and we have a big gas-guzzling Lexus suv for road trips. Re Sofyan's question whether you can unlock the car with Mini's phone app, the answer is yes. You can lock, unlock, climatize, etc., the car from the app.

Most enjoyable EV to drive to date. Not the most comfortable over rough roads, but the vehicle was designed to be tossed around, not for road trip comfort.
We see 100 miles (worst case) with Pacific Northwest winters, 30F - 40F with wet road. Summer time ( with summer OE tires ) we usually see 140-150 miles. The heat pump doesn't care about mild winters... just drive it and enjoy!

So many people complaining about the range. Realistically how many people doing road trips all day every day are considering Minis anyway? I mean, 99% of my driving at least is quite a bit less than 100 miles per day so the range has never been an issue for me. When you’re looking at a mid $30k starting price the only other EVs you’re really looking at are the Bolt or Leaf which while yes they have more range they’re both far more bland to drive. Minis work best as city cars and this is no exception. People saying “how is this acceptable for a BMW product in 2023”. If it’s not enough range they’ll happily sell you an I4🤷🏻‍♂️

@@RW-zh7kl which is great. It finally reflects the quality of the car itself. Model 3 interior is far lower quality than things like BMW I4, Hyundai Ioniq 5 or 6. So many good EV options now. It’s about time Tesla realized their cars were hugely overpriced for what you get. Now they’re priced appropriately.

    Three additional features to mention:
    1. You can raise the cargo floor to create a flat cargo area with the seats down - very handy.
    2. There is an optional heated steering wheel! The button is on the side of the steering column and very easy to miss.
    3. Active Cruise Control is back! I have a Cooper SE ordered and they have confirmed ACC will be included again.

Great review as usual ( I have watched many) I just bought a Mini SE as a placeholder for the dual battery version that will be out next year. I would have to say that 99% of buyers have reconciled the small range before they have bought and its not their only car. I have two other gas powered cars for road trips. But as my wife's daily- she has about a 50 mile round trip and errands? PERFECT. Awesome handling, very comfortable, BMW quality- NO AM radio just FYI and wish it had Blind spot monitoring (EVERY CAR should have this as standard like air bags) and yes 50 miles more range would be perfect. But most who have the car love it- and so far we do too!

projecting the HUD onto the windshield changes your Point of Focus. The flip up HUD alows your Point of Focus to stay ahead of the windshield, on the road. These kind of HUDs are used in jet planes and some helicopter iirc. Long story short, windshield projecting HUDs take your eye off the road more.

A lot of 'experts' here saying it has less than the claimed range.
The EPA range is based on some driving tests and some fudge factors.
I own an SE. 8,000 miles so far. So I like to think I have a slightly more accurate idea of various attributes. Like actual range.
Temperature in teens, range 90 miles. Temperature above freezing, it's over 100 miles.
Temps 70+ I get 140-150. Others do better, but probably don't drive quite as fast as me.
Sales flop? Nobody will buy it?
The SE is by far the most popular model in the Mini range. 22% of all Minis sold are SEs.
If you want a used one, be prepared to pay new, or higher price.
No, it won't suit everyone. For some of us, it is ideal, though.
Oh yeah. Mine costs around $0.04/mile in winter, $0.03/mile in summer to charge.

Speeds 65 to 75 MPH will continue to deliver respectable figures... surprising considering aerodynamics were an afterthought.

Dude your details are so wrong. Makes me wonder about the other videos I've seen from you. There is adaptive cruise on the iconic trim. None have lane keep assist (only departure warning). There's no Android auto but the built in nav + app works well. The arm rests are not padded, just spongy plastic (nitpick). There is wireless charging in the armrest on iconic trim, but your phone probably wouldn't fit anyway. I own one of course. Build quality is bad. There are rattles. Unless you're willing to deal with that I would not recommend this car (although it is very fun to drive).
Also, your fob doesn't have a panic button because there's no alarm. Supply chain supposedly.

You know nothing, Jon Snow. Just like MINI lists 6.9 seconds to 60 mph instead of the tested 6,05 seconds, they underrate the range. Some owners drive more than 180 miles on a charge in the summer and even on cold winter days I can drive 100 miles.

It’s tough to imagine this anywhere in the American market except maybe NYC, and even then I just don’t think it’d be worth it. For Europe I’m curious to see how well it sells, but at that price point with such abysmal range (talking less than 90 miles in real world use) I wish mini would have just waited until they could put out an ev with at least some kind of decent range.

Im honestly interested in getting into EV but for those of us who can only own 1 vehicle theres too many hoops to jump through at this time. Thisll stay a rich persons fun toy, their 3rd maybe even 4th vehicle to putz around in. Sales will remain low on this one.
