In this clip, Mike Tyson addressed his friendship with Von Zip, and he explained that he continued to hang out with street figures like Zip after he became successful because they grew up together. He went on to state that he doesn't think his friends in the street are bad people, he just thinks they made bad mistakes. Mike went on to state that sometimes he feels like he should switch places with them in prison, which you can hear more about above.

Perhaps, I think he's saying that Vlad is being a reductionist meaning that he's reducing people that Mike considers his friends as "street" guys when Mike sees them differently. With people who are civilians or haven't grown up in certain circles it's not uncommon for people reduce people's identities in this way. I think vlad is just a narcissist on some level, his need for validation from every guest is blatantly obvious.
I guess he tried to find validation from the hip hop community by DJing and adopting slang at first. He didn't have the skills to make it big but his ego demanded the spotlight still, so he decided to become famous riding the coat tails of other people. Now he interviews people he secretly admires living the fantasy that he is affiliated with them in order to fill in his insecurities which might have formed during childhood - he never really has said anything about his parents after all, despite usually talking about himself more than the guests even!
I could be wrong but the signs are there and you can see the frustration on the face of the guests often no matter how diplomatic they try to be. Because dialogue with a NP is tiresome and usually a monologue.

Im a retired police officer and I came up in a very tough low economic neighborhood. Growing up many of the guys who helped me or even encouraged me to stay straight were gangster type people. When I was a teen, Mike Tyson and his daughter were eating at a Jamaican restaurant in Harlem near my home . The restaurant was literally a hole in the wall, a small family joint. It was across the street from a school yard I was playing ball in. My friends kept murmuring he was in there but of course I didn't believe them. Out of curiosity, I walked over to the restaurant and walked past the door and looked in. My eyes spotted him and he looked up and saw and locked eyes with me for a second. There was no smile or nothing, just coldness. I said nothing and quickly walked away and went back to the school yard. I told my friends something like: "Yeah he's there." We didn't even talk about it. I guess they understood but I wasn't ready. Nevertheless, I couldn't shake the feeling of his eyes and I didn't even want to play ball anymore. So, I just went home. I still remember how he looked at me.
