Nice job. 2000 + rounds through mine, no failures with ball and various jhp. Put a pearce pinky extension on the 6 round magazine that does not change length of back strap, so still easy to conceal.
Great video!!! My EDC is a S&W M&P Shield.45 loaded with Federal HST 230 grain +P JHP. +P ammo does very well in the M&P Shield.45 I did purchase & install a Hogue Grip on my Shield & the recoil is a lot less!!!! I subscribed!!!👍👍
Mr Gilliam,...thanks so much for the thorough review of this firearm. I'm currently scouring the internet for one. Hopefully I'll find one soon. Thanks again.
Grabagun.com has them the 450...6 months ago im sure it wouldve been 400 but the times are changin' The reason I like grabagun is(and their not the only ones doing it)is they have an FFL catalog.you enter your zipcode and they show which FFls they've delt with,no need to contact ffl and have them fax over their license, they retain the ffl info to help future customers...also they send all guns 2 day shipping for 7.99
Great looking pistol, I love the grips on the new ones. It would appear that the Performance Center version has a much better trigger. At least it looked very nice when you showed the pull and reset. Those are some nice groups, especially while shooting a small 45acp!
The trigger surprised me a great deal, it was actually good. I just hate that curve of a hinge trigger. FN got it right on the 509. Overall its really a nice compact accurate defense firearm.
Birchwood Casey Super Black covers those scratches and ejection abrasions very nicely and won't rub off. Try it, you will be super impressed. I had these same marks on my gun and used the above-described touch-up pen.
@@rabbi7933 Home protection ... Glock 41 MOS, FNX 45 Tactical, Springfield Armory XDM Elite are the ones that come to mind in 45acp and for a 1911 Kimber KHX OR (optic ready)or OI (optic installed).
Thanks for quick reply! My Shield .45 pulls to left. But based on your video I think it's trigger control. I was considering trading it in for the Glock 30 which is thicker and allows me to control it better. But I'll continue to stick with my Shield for now. What are the notable differences between the Glock 30 and the Shield 45 you've found?
@Brian Jenkins I love the Glock 30 it's my favorite carry firearm. I've had mine since they first came out, mid 90s and still carry it. Advantage G30 10 round capacity and you can put G21 magazines, makes it 13 round capacity. G30 shoots better in my opinion. The Shield 45 is a nice firearm for flat concealment. If you want a larger striker fired 45 with an excellent trigger, PPQ 45 (get a Talon Grip for this one)
I wonder if the scratches on the ejection port from S&B ammo might have something to do with Fiocchi and S&B being usually loaded a little warmer. Here is manufacturer data, I believe it is all 5" barrel: S&B 230 grain, FMJ, 853 ft/s Fiocchi 230 grain, FMJ, 869 ft/s Remington UMC, 230 grain, FMJ, 835 ft/s Federal, 230 grain, FMJ, 830 ft/s
@mountainhobo Interesting point. Thanks for the list. One of my 1911s has ejection port scratches definitely from CCI Blazer. Thanks for watching, greatly appreciated!
I don’t have the pc version of this one but I do have a shield.45 and it’s my edc and I even wear it during summer time it’s not hard to conceal and I shoot it very well so it just makes sense for me to edc this gun highly recommend it!
@brian buchert Ijust started carrying mine, I had to get a holster from Vedder Holsters since not to many holster makers make one for the 45acp. It does make sense like you said.
No need to skower the internet looking for a holster. Vedder makes them Bravo Concealment makes them Tactical Measures makes them Lucky Coyote makes them all EXCELLENT holsters...all offer L.E and Military or Veteran discounts... oh yeah and so does Alien Gear...
I don't understand how anyone, for a carry 45, can call going from HST to FMJ an "upgrade." If you are really concerned about failing to reliably get expansion velocities from a 45 out of a 3.3 barrel, go with Underwood Xtreme Defenders, a fluted copper solid, which will both protect against over-penetration and do more damage than an FMJ.
@NewTraditionalists I may have missed spoken. I get tongue tied with thoughts. I know the HST and Xtreme Denfenders are a way better choice! Thanks for pointing it out. Greatly appreciate it!
@Yosef Kowalsky Getting magazines and anything else now is tough. At the time I got my extra magazines from Smith and Wesson. Try Gun Mag Warehouse or other online stores. Thanks for watching, greatly appreciate it!
For a video with "shooting impressions" in the title, you sure spent most of the time on other topics. Scratches, holsters, dimensions,...nearly everything except for shooting impressions. Not bad in general but, next time try to stay on topic.
@LiChoiFungfan Sorry, some viewers wanted the specs and I spent more time on that. However it's a very good shooter and I'd recommend. You'd want to have the larger magazines because you will have better control on the grip. Thanks for watching, greatly appreciated!

Now it would be interesting to try warm Fiocchi and see if it scratches, too. If it doesn't, then the cause might be elsewhere.
