    I'm not a pilot but a friend of mine in the Philippines, Ronnie Liang is learning how to fly. So far he's got his private pilot license and currently working on his commercial pilot license. Because of him, I am learning a lot about the different planes and I said to myself, if I have the money, I would be getting a Pilatus PC-12 NGX and the Diamond DA-50 RG which is mainly for personal use. Anyway, THANK YOU! I don't think I've come across anyone who explained things as clear as you did. Anyone who hasn't attended any class at all like myself could learn a lot from you... so again, thanks! Stay safe!

    You mentioned that you don't want the ITT to go up too high. What would cause it to go up too high and how do you stop it from going up too high if that were to happen.

    • @fersobe
      @fersobe  4 года назад

      Hi John, If we get lighted pretty fast, we risk toasting the engine on the inside. The ITT can go up to 1,000 Celsius before it toast the engine; therefore we need to keep vigilant and cut the fuel if it gets too high!

    • @SpiraSpiraSpira
      @SpiraSpiraSpira 4 года назад +1

      Hot starts can be caused by any number of factors, the most common one in normal operations being low battery amperage during battery starts on aircraft that have a single battery but also can be a result of a variety of other maintenance issues or even a strong tailwind blowing up the aft of the aircraft.
      You stop it by first recognizing that a hot start is happening - if you wait until the ITT gets close to the limits its going to be too late. The engine can only be within 870-1000’C for 5 seconds - and it still has to cool down. Once you recognized a hot start is occurring you just take fuel away by putting the condition lever to cut off feather and letting the start cycle finish both to continue cooling the engine as well as to get rid of any unburnt fuel that remains in the combustion chamber. I was always trained to, as part of the start cycle, to make a note of the highest ITT reached even on normal starts. For example, the callout would be: “*add fuel* Fuel flow... light off... 701 degrees, oil pressure.” And also if it ever goes into the transient or starting limits to start counting seconds, you get 20 seconds from 800-870 I believe and 5 seconds 870-1000. If you do this on every start then if you have a hot start you’ll be able to tell your mechanic the highest ITT reached and for how long it was there which might save you from having to do a hot section inspection.

    Hey Shamir! I'm an ATP and fly King Airs, Piper Malibu Mirage, and when I'm lucky I get to sit right seat in a Challenger 601. I've heard this plane is a dream to fly, and talk about a clean cockpit! Mind if I as you a couple questions?
    1. What happens if you attempt a takeoff at gross weight with no flaps? I hear there's a quirk with flap settings that can get you into trouble, which is all I know.
    2. What does the standby bus actually power? Do you need a Batt switch on to use it?
    3. The ECS system confuses me. I thought the buttons on the overhead panel were for ground use, but there's a master ECS switch on the fwd panel with Auto setting and temp control, so you still need those overhead switches? There's a button for cooling and one for heating. Say you're taking off from KPHX and the temp's 100 degrees F, and you need the cold air for taxi-out and take off, but up at FL270 you need some heat. Do you have to mess with those buttons at altitude?
    Thanks for posting this... the PC-12 is state of the art Swiss engineering and you get an aircraft that has top notch performance and comfort, only at the sacrifice of a little cruise speed. Someone compared the PC-12 to being the best example of an airliner shrunk down to a single-engine package. I'd love to fly this beauty!
