I used to pretend I was Brian Downey, banging the drumsticks across the top of my parents sofa for the full duration of Live and Dangerous every sunday night...aah happy days
Looks like the Rockpalast concert but recorded from French TV, thanks for posting pal. Brian Downey is the most underrated drummer in rock, he nailed it down!
Steffan Pila Great Live Version Of "Bad Reputation." I believe "Renegade" is one of Thin Lizzy best albums since "Bad Reputation" and that is a fact!!!!!!
yes good spot more bluesy. I prefer the other more aggressive version which I think is one of the best lizzy solos although with sun goes down studio version.
Brian is/was a great drummer, I don't know why on the studio albums the sound is kind of weak, on the first album the drums sound amazing. Those 70's albums are great but I never thought Lizzy had good production.
Agreed, and it sounded dark - he was not in a good place...and even though it was in the middle of the heroin period...that was the worst I've ever heard Gorham play a solo as he's normally right on with his solos - one of the best there is. But here he seems off his face and even Brian Downey (who doesn't give much away with his facial expressions on the drums) after 3:06 gives him a pissed off look.
thanks for posting .. but Philip really phoned in the vocal on this one.. almost disinterested.. such a pity to see and hear.... course we all know now that his personal problems were starting to overcome him at this stage.. but his vocal was almost like a sound check.. but without a doubt one of the truly unique talents Rock, and his legend will only get stronger.. just wish he was alive to add to it...
Philip doesn't look well here . Hurts to see him this way . Lzzy are a favorite of mine and Phil was such a talented and dynamic performer and he is usually a monster onstage so things most have been very difficult for him at this time. Seeing anyone struggle like this is sad especially after the fact when you know how it ended . RIP Phillip . Great musician and great human being
I’m a staunch Lizzy fan and I actually saw them on this tour but this performance (Downey excepted) is really poor. Phil sounds like he can’t be bothered and Gorham is off his game as well. That’s all I meant…
Brian Downey: a vastly underrated drummer and his work on this tune is incredible.
So true, Michael! So often we hear that Brian Downey is "underrated". But he is HIGHLY rated by anyone who actually has ears!
as a drummer myself since now 40 yrars, i consider Downey one of the best rock drummer of the 70's , as good as Bonham or Paice
Agreed .. incredible player.
I'm in agreement too. Definitely one of my biggest influences
Totally agree

Oh my God. The drumming is phenomenal!
YOU are correct and you're very beautiful :)

Downey is a genius!!
Totally agree with Richard. Thanks for posting this.
Badass!!!
Is this snowy white in the guitar?
Josué Orrico yes
Yes It's Snowey who was in Floyd
Houba Houba! Was this a strictly music program in France?
Look at Downey an animal on drums brillant
Quite different solo version by Scott. Special feature for the French fans?

Banda foda
The guitars sound extra raw on this one and the drums sound aggressive fat.. With lower generation cleaned up audio this would sound immmense .
forgot, sweet's Mick Tucker drummer was also very hot

The boys from Crumlin
Maaan that solo was fucked-up :/

He really was going through the motions with that solo
As a guitarist, I can tell you, that rhythm isn't solo friendly at all. Very hard to come up with something good on that progression.

Why bother?!
Why bother with what?
Six years later why bother with what? If you don't like Lizzy don't watch, just saying lol😉
