Yes, it was a formidable Concert in Berlin. I was there, being just 14 years old. Other bands here were Suzy Quatro, UFO (first line up with Schenker), and East of Eden. Their last tune was Jig-a-Jig and all people were dancing.
thank u eternally for all these rare and great videos of phil and thin lizzy...a very good blast from the past! when it's my turn to go, hope i would be blessed enough to meet & hear phil, rory and gary jamming up there
Back in the '70's when I was a teen and discovering TL I would have waited hours to see this on OGWT, but it wouldn't have been aired. This is such a rare piece of TL history!
Bell left because of bad health that was brought on by exhaustion and excesses. Thin Lizzy was always a band that toured a lot. They were also a band that did lots and lots of drugs and alcohol. That is the very definition of burning the rope at both ends.
Philip's songwriting at it's peak. Eric Bell brought the best out of him. The drugs and tough image with the twin guitar attack was so boring compared to this era of Phil's poetry.
Phil has been a hero of mine since the first time I saw Lizzy on "Midnight Special." I'm glad that there is a statute in his memory. I'm starting to think that somebody should build one for Eric Bell, too; he's never gotten the smallest fraction of the credit he deserves.
THAT is why 'Lizzy as a 3-PIECE - when they were 'on-their-mark' (as here) - was their best incarnation ever IMHO. Their 'twin-guitar' period was very good, I guess, but always sounded a bit 'air-brushed' & 'radio-friendly' to me... . Not that there's 'owt necessarily wrong with that, of course (a muso's gotta make a living after all, huh ?) : just an observation. Camera-man needs shooting ... but thanks for posting.
They were not ready for them in 1973
well the Berliner's weren't
@@fruitcake4t the Dubliner's were, that's for sure..

Eric Bell, one of the most underated guitarists of all time. He can hang with the Best of them.
@Parris1949 Thanks so much for making this footage available;this is gold to a Lizzy fan like myself !
Rickenbacker bass - wow - nice one, Phil!
Thanks so much for this, my fave Lizzy song! The audience are priceless - mixture of confused children and bemused adults 😂
that is smoking authentic rock.
Wow, i've never seen any footage of this song being played live. Excellent Channel!

Awesome Eric Bell era of Thin🍀Lizzy, thanks! 🤘🎸
Terrible audience. They were fantastic from beginning to end. What a shame very few in the crowd seemed to appreciate it.
Great stuff - makes you wonder what went wrong with this line-up?
Chock this up, power trio here.
Eric Bell > Eric Clapton
also makes you wonder wtf was wrong with the audience?!
btw... fantastic X-dissolve at 6:15
the crowd were totally intimidated by it,,
Wow worst crowd ever
An ingenious song about child abuse:
"It's good clean alcohol and it fills you up."
Sad and disgusting.

Crowd: non plussed.
Band: try harder
WAKE UP WHITE PEOPLE. .! This is amazing! !
Scott!!!!! You know Eric is better than you

Agreed. Bell has a unique, elegant style that worked really well in those early albums.
@@goopah yes, Eric is awesome. He played on my fave song, vagabond of the Western world
Absolutely Eric Bell is quite often looked over, past and he's one of one for me. Love early stuff as much if not more than the later..
Pretty Awesome So Tight . The Mighty Thin Lizzy
Amazing that these recordings were not lost! So good to see them in the early years
Kind of like a Hendrix style song, very cool

Phil looking like he's in his Thunder & Lightning tour gear back in 1973. I love the 1977 Gary Moore remix of this. A brilliant rock record!🎸
