    If you go to for ex: 19rp on both radios then turn the “R” on the receive radio you can bypass the vfo mode completely. By far the best “out of the box” new gmrs repeater Iv seen.

    For an ID, I had an old Android cell phone laying around, and I set up MacroDroid to speak the ID using the phone's TTS every 15 minutes and connected the headphone output of the phone to the mic input of a Baofeng UV-9G GMRS handheld radio and set the VOX. I have it play a short tone before it speaks the ID to trigger the VOX so it doesn't cut off the beginning of the message.

      Should be at least one more after this one, once I get the radios mounted into a rack or stand with a cooling fan.

    When a repeater is used and all the users are on the owner's license, then repeater ID is not required. Also, the time between IDs in general is 15 minutes, not 10.

    Good information. Where did you get the communication cable?

      From Retevis. The part# is in the video. Or you can use a double ended 3.5mm (stereo) audio cable

    Is the receiving radio desensitized in repeater mode like the KG-1000’s 🤔

    So do you recommend these for a Repeater? Looking at cheap options. Are they putting out 40 watts,? 50 watts be nice. Thanks!!

    • @HamRadioCrusader
      @HamRadioCrusader  4 месяца назад +1

      I want to say they put out about 30 W in Repeater mode ISH. They will make a good repeater with cooling fans on the transmitter. But I would feel better if I could hook up an external controller to them for automatic ID

    Great video. One question.. I watched another video on these stating that the reverse function needed to be turned on. I notice yours isn't. Page 13 of the manual halfway down. Thanks ! Here is the link for that video..

    No duplexer needed?

    • @HamRadioCrusader
      @HamRadioCrusader  7 месяцев назад

      I’m sorry if I did not mention it. But when running a repeater where the transmitter and receiver are on the same band. You will need a duplexer if you plan on running one antenna. If you run separate antennas on the transmitter and receiver, even at low power, the antennas would have to be quite a distance apart to avoid intermodulation.
