"Most people will just pop their ultimate as soon as it's available" Me choosing between... 1) forgetting I have an ultimate 2) holding my ultimate for the "right" moment and then the game ends.
yeah, i've always been the type to save my ult for just the right moment, which sometimes never comes around, and then i go whole match without ever using it.
Relatable, honestly don't be afraid to use it to guarantee a kill like an "f u specifically". Though it depends on the ult (works with black panther@@sleet9289
Defintely use it more often. You dont need a perfect play. If you can secure 1 important kill, that puts the odds in your teams favor pretty considerably.
For tank: Wasting enemy time, resources=Worth the Ult DPS=Get 1 or more kills=Worth the Ult Support=Saving 1+ life= Worth the Ult Too many people wait the entire game for that *PERFECT* play, when they could have used their ults more than a handful of times to force a play

I've had the opposite experience weirdly. I have competent players and often get paired against people we win against easily. Sometimes we get fair matchups that are win or lose. I don't play mp games as much as I used to and when I did it was mainly Halo so I know how it feels to be teamed up with people that only have a Guitar Hero controller and the game sense of a goldfish.
Every time I play solo, my team always start with 5 dps and I have to end up begging someone to go either tank or support. Why the hell are people so scared of playing support or tank?
tbh i think a lot of people who don't play games like this are playing the game bc they know the characters. i don't play games in this genre but i wanted to check it out and I'm having fun lol. also this game is so hectic sometimes that you don't even know what's going on at times lol
@LyricSnowe I just keep getting lumped with players who think it's Call of Duty, and run around chasing kills, even though there's a clear objective; damn near impossible to hit proper heals when I have to go haring across the map because the Punisher thinks kills are more important, or I get lambasted at the objective because I'm the only one there.
@@LyricSnowethe only time someone cared for me when i play healer was if someone else is playing healer. It was just me playing as Luna and a Mantis healing each other
Tip no#1: play with friends because you'll have 1/10 chances the randoms will take support/tank. I don't want role queue for this game because of the team-up abilities, but releasing the game with more duelists than vanguards and strategists combined was a bad move.
I agree. I don't want role queue either, I just want Vanguard and Strategist to have more options. They should full stop on Duelists until they have a balanced roster. Vanguards: Thing, Sif, Titania, Songbird, Captain Marvel, Medusa, The Hood, Colossus Strategists: Ultron, Invisible Woman, Elixir, Emma Frost, Domino, Mephisto, Silver Sable, Viper, Exodus
I feel like people worry too much about roles I think it's more about how well you play, I won 8/10 games in a row with a 4 stack and nothing but duelist and 1 healer.
@@hummingbirdcitythe next 6 characters that have been data mined are Ultron (strategist), Mr Fantastic (duelist), Human Torch (appears to be duelist), Invisible Woman (role unknown), Thing (appears to be Vanguard), and Blade (role unknown, but let's be real, most likely duelist).
@@EPIKGamess people worry too much about roles because they're fundamentally approaching the game wrong. Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist are similar to what people ARE familiar with, so they incorrectly think they're the same as tank, adc, and support. The devs themselves have stated that they're not the same. A lot of characters have a lot of versatility in their kit. I will die on the hill that Peni Parker is not a tank, she is a bulky support. Mantis is adc/support hybrid. Wolverine can easily play as a tank. People are categorizing characters with what's familiar to them, and they're not performing as well because of it.
Mistake 9 is really important. I'm a newbie to PvP games and am learning. Typing slurs to people just trying to get a handle on it, especially because it is a new game, isn't helping anyone
0:55 actually there is a small penalty for changing heroes. your ultimate. the charge goes down by half if you switch heroes- if you have a fully charged ultimate in round 1 but switch to a different hero in round 2, you'll only get 50% charge as your new hero in round 2 so its worth taking that into consideration before switching heroes
Yea but that's only if your ult is above 50% and if it is but you want to switch make the best use of your ult then die after and switch small penalties be gone.
While I don’t disagree some hero’s can charge quicker so if you switch to say moon knight or star lord and can play them it might be worth the ultimate % dropping knowing you can get it back in 10 seconds of combat lol
Everyone in comments: “As a ____ main…” Me: “I just let everyone else pick first and pick last and fill.” I hate running 4 dps. But that’s been happening since I’ve started ranked in bronze 3.
4 dps and 2 supports can easily take a quick match game, especially depending on the map and team comp. The damage output on some of these characters is insane.
@@vewyscawymonsta That is if your teammates know how to use a PC/console. If I ain't in a full team the randoms have less than a .2 KD and then they complain about the healer (who is most likely me since everyone instalocks DPS), even tho I have more DMG than them combined and more healing than I have dmg
Being a player in top 500 support rn, i gotta say the main thing you have to focus on doing is playing together and taking key areas. Map control is something that is very decisive in MR at the moment. Mainly taking hold of high grounds with ya team or denying enemies off angles. Hela is easily one of the best dps rn and if you can enable her to get easier lineups for those quick ko's you just win every match. Staying tilt free also helps. I've been a victim of having it where ya team is not coordinating but being rude wont help. Instead speak up and call things out, You notice that venom used his shield too early get a cc on him or heavy burst as he is leaving and that shield drops. Comms are the best way to rank up in any game and if you feel like ya struggling aim wise, Here a free tip. MR has a free aim labs training area. Set the bot 10m away with random movement on standard speed making the target black widow. Stand still and just focus on one widow at a time hitting your shots. Once you get consistent start adding in ya player movement while shooting. Then after a while do about 20m with same settings and repeat. Dont go past 20 as most fights aren't taken further than that and you'll just tilt ya self training.
One more thing 1/3/2 or 2/2/2 hell even 1/2/3 comps all work fine. Don't stress on always having 2/2/2. As long as you have good team-ups of characters that highlight each other well almost any comps can work. Hell i just had a game essentially playing GOATS 3/3 With Strange, Groot, Hulk, Luna, Jeff, Mantis and we kicked ass with how much sustain we had. Now thats not gonna work every time but the point is dont stress on ya comp
THANK YOU!!! I played a game two days ago where one of the randoms on my team was playing Peni as solo Vanguard, we had 2 Duelists, and 3 Strategists (I was in a 4 stack). He kept complaining that we needed another tank and on of us had to switch. I was one of the healers, so I could have switched. The thing is, I'm a Peni main and he insta locked, so I was playing Loki to support our Hela who carried the game. He also wasn't doing a good job with Peni, which is why he said we needed another tank (as a Peni main, she's not supposed to play as a tank, she's definitely a bulky support, but I know how to push people back like a tank should). My team told me to, so I asked nicely if I could play Peni and he switch to play another tank. He was super rude to me for no reason, I got upset and I'm super petty, so I stayed as Loki and we lost. So many people in this game are jerks for no reason, so if you're gonna be a jerk, then so will I.
players choosing to be fluid with what position their team needs instead of raging over what position they insist they SHOULD be playing can sometimes make or break a game
If someone on my team asks nicely for a fill, I'm more than happy to play support. If someone on my team is talking shit because we only have one support and they're playing DPS, I'm not playing support.
I mostly play with a group of friends and I'm happy to say we've all picked at least one character we like on each role, and we cycle who plays each roles as we go so everyone gets a turn, I'm having a blast playing this game because of it
@@angerskarin9222I feel that, I play dps every now and then but I’m maybe average at best with them, there isn’t a single support I clock with, but I play a mean Dr strange 😂
While peni may not be the best at pushing, she is REALLY good against groot because you can just send the bombs over the barriers and kill everytging. I dont think people caught onto it yet but the bombs go thru shields so you can just throw bombs farf away into the enemy and slow them
People haven't caught on to just how good Peni is in general. There's also a lot of tech you can do with her that people just don't know about such as extending webs for the nest and using the attach to peek corners, etc. Yeah, she's not great at pushes, but she isn't supposed to be.
I had like a 15kill streak with Peni defending a choke point. You basically have your own healpad.Love how you can also just hold down LMB and keep hitting randomly ;p
The last part is probably the most important message. Don't take the game too serious and just let ppl have fun the way they want. Don't rush or force their experience with the game. I know everything you mention helps for players to win but it's also not necessary. I had one kid, I'm pretty sure he is. Cussed me out in a pm because i refused to play another character or follow his directions. I'm learning and i like to play the characters i want until i get better. Don't bark orders at me. You do that you need to do.
I'm super new to these kinds of games and have been spending a lot of time with the practice range + bot matches and I love getting used to things at this slower pace. I'll even throw a couple hard bots on my team so they can carry me while I mess with new characters, i love it
There is a penalty for switching heroes, you lose a percentage of your ult charge, though I havent figured out the math. I know that if you're ult is ready and you change heroes, your ult drops to 50%
If it’s under 50 it stays where it is but if it’s anything over 50 it goes back down to 50 so if you’re 80-90 percent or better use your it then switch
I only get angry when people aren’t filling out roles 80% of the time I’m the only one willing to play healer or tank. Even when we are getting steam rolled then I can’t leave because I’ll get banned which is ridiculous
I call my team "Selfish DPS Team" when stuff like that happened. Like if 4 or 5 people lock in DPS and nobody changes I'm instantly annoyed Edit: sometimes I'll even thank the people who change to non-dps roles because I feel selfish for choosing my main DPS char
As flex support, I've won games healing 5 duelists before... even faced a 6 duelist team with that, which obviously we rekt them and hopefully taught them a lesson about roles...
The thing about the payload is true for Overwatch and Paladins as well. I don't know what it is about payload modes in games, but I _always_ see people rush forward to continue chasing the enemy. It's like their brains go on autopilot and they immediately forget about the objective. You can force your teammates to learn the hard way if you play tank or healer though. Just stay by the payload and let them die. If they get mad at you, be a smartass and tell them somebody had to move the payload and nobody else was doing it.
There's a lot of good advice in this video, but the Payload bit is situationally wrong. You do want someone on the payload(preferably a ranged character) but most of the team should push up, not to pursue kills, but to take up space, establish a good position, and make contesting the payload harder. It also allows you to not have to deal with certain choke points if you've already established a position past them. That actually gets you more progress overall than if your team stays on the payload. If you're just pushing up overpursuing kills though, that is not good and staying on the payload is better in that scenario.
@samvimes9510 there is a strong difference between taking space after a point capture and chasing. If you just got a team wipe and capped, then you should 100% have 5 pushing up and taking that space especially if someone got a bad spawn which is a free pick. This is how you snowball games. Having a player stay back at range pushing cart while thats happening will get you much further than having all stack on payload and letting enemy get map control. Now your team chasing towards enemy new spawn not taking map control is bad and just asking to have ya team wiped.
That's because people don't take the time to understand why they are chasing. For example if yo capture first point and you know there is a nasty choke right at the start of second point push. You should chase as a character like peni Parker because it's hard to push into that choke. And you should push till your just past it then set up as if you're on defense.
As a former OW 1 player a lot of the same game-sense tips apply to Rivals • Don't stagger your spawn (stick with your squad unless you need to trigger overtime) • Know good combos for ults • Know when your opponents may or may not have their ult and be prepared to react to them The Merchant pretty much covered the rest o7 GLHF
also another thing I want to add as a person who has reached diamond, Its ok to use your ult even if its just to get one person. Yeah they'll be mad at it claiming "OMG YOU SOLO ULTED ME" but in this game you get ult so fast that you should think your ultimate more of an ability with a long cooldown rather than an ult if that makes senses. If your ult leads to you getting 2 or even just 1 key target, you can shift the entire fight in your favor and create a snowball effect quickly winning you more fights.
this is actually a very good guide for players new to the the hero shooter genre. and even i, an overwatch player since release of the game, am still prone to being tilted in marvel rivals. sometimes bc i feel like i know better than some of the guys i have on my team. so its a nice reminder for me to be less tilted to win more games and have more fun.
Nah. You do know better than the guys on your team. You're all ways right. Everyone else is just bad at the game. Have you never played an online video game before?
On controller it’s a bit harder for some characters. I feel like on PC it’s just way easy to aim compared to controller certain characters are meh on controller and then on PC. It’s like what how😅
That's just one of those things you have to practice at. Playing other shooters (multiplayer or single player) will also help. And if you're on PC, there are free games like 3D Aim Trainer that can help you get better. But if you find that you just can't improve past a certain point (I'm still horrible at sniping and I've been playing multiplayer shooters for years), it's not a big deal. The nice thing about games like these is that there are plenty of heroes that don't require precise aiming.
I just love how people choose their DPS char and I have 1 tank, 2 healers (myself included or I'm the solo tank) and have 3 DPSers who can't dps. Healers die first, so i can't heal the tanks or dps, then tanks die and dps makes no difference whatsoever, and then healers are blamed for not healing, because I'm dead.
cool thing about Marvel Rivals is that a lot of concepts i learnt from Overwatch are still useful, for example waiting for your whole team to respawn to not get staggered, avoiding over using ultimates all at once, using ultimates to push the choke, using high ground, etc
I don’t play competitive shooters ( I come from fighting games) & I find myself being the one to sacrifice and play what is needed for the team, but it leads to me performing the worse on the team at times, which leads to toxicity towards me in chat rooms, then I become the same way. It’s a bad cycle I want to break. We all need more patience with new players.
Also not letting random people dissuade you either, the game just came out and like you said it's not your genre, we're all learning regardless how long you played other games and the same people being toxic also have plenty of terrible games too, Idc if you're the number 1 overwatch player, it's a different game with different balancing and it just came out
@@bahahaha8416 True. I've seen someone insult their own Groot after they lost a match because he was playing poorly. I just thought to myself, well, this ensures that that guy who was likely just trying out the hero in quickmatch is not going to do this again and will just go back to his comfort picks (which are likely not tanks). People act like this game has been out for years already and everyone should know everything already. It's crazy.
Just disable chat, there's nothing you can gain from it if you're getting toxic teammates. There are pings that are more than enough to communicate. I'm both an FPS and FGC veteran, but in all honesty it doesn't matter. LoL (the MOBA) taught me how to deal with toxicity the best. 99% of the time people have no idea what they're talking about and even if it's the 1% when they're correct and you could learn something it's not something you wouldn't learn sooner rather than later anyways. Especially after a few weeks when people start to figure out how to play their mains. You just find whoever's maining w/e Heroes you like and you watch their play patterns, it's that simple. No need to have chat enabled in the hopes that somebody's gonna tell you something useful once a year. Obviously finding friends, even if it's just online buddies, to play regularly with is, for the most part, the best strategy, but that comes with its own set of issues.
Got told I was throwing the match because I was doing my job as a tank and positioning myself ahead of my (four) DPS players while my friend (our ONLY support) was being bullied by an enemy Iron Fist and Magik. My friend ended up getting 35k healing in that game and all my (four) DPS guys had to say about our loss was how I was the one throwing because I was holding THEM back. Like dude, we don't need a Hela, Psylocke, Moon Knight, AND an Iron Fist. But nooooooo, I was the bad player on the team as Venom. Meanwhile, they had a Groot, Jeff, Hulk, Luna Snow, Iron Fist, and Magik with 6 deaths between them all.

what works for me with moon knight is ill throw an anhk and auto attack once or twice before throwing a boomerang so maximize the dmg and if its thrown far enough all the attacks hit before they even get a chance to turn around, got alot of picks that way, just gotta watch out for strange since his shield can deny alot of your value
The crazy part is that there are no really terrible strategist characters. Im usually waiting for the one game where everyone doesnt instalock DPS in games like OW or TF2, but ive barely put any time into DPS at all in Rivals lol
Always the way. Though I will say, I think support is really fun in this game, and even tank I've found myself liking more than in OW where I mained DPS and Supp only. So I think this game is already doing better at making tank/supp more fun in general. I guess it's just people still liking DPS more.
Today I got into a match with someone using thor and we were doing pretty well. It was a defend the point mission and we had them pushed all the way back to spawn because Thor was going after as many kills as possible, but there were still some enemies getting to point. Thor was pushed up, and so were the other players leaving just me and a mantis on the point. A scarlet witch and a hulk showed up at the same time and starting taking the point and there was nothing I could do about it as Jeff, which I didn’t even have my ult yet either because it was still pretty early in the match, so I spammed ping on them and Thor would not come back. Neither would the rest of the players who were dead or dying by that point. He stayed at the front chasing easier kills, let the two people take the point, and when we eventually lost the match he blamed the healers for not healing even though he was the one who pushed up and ignored my pings just to play for kills letting them take the point. Super annoying match, probably most annoying one yet. People like that should stick to cod
Welcome to hero shooters. Happens in every single one of them. Gets better as you get to higher ranks. If you don't play ranked, then you should get used to it.
When a game is free, do you know what the primary demographic of those games will tend to be? Children. Stupid, undeveloped and self-unaware brains running into a wall over and over again and then getting angry when they lose. Unfortunately, this can also apply to a good amount of adults too
In 5:40 you said to kill the healer then after killing the healer, then kill the strategist.. I don't think you meant to say that lol. Also, this is great advise. Its the same asvise people have been giving overwatch players. Its all about target priority, team cohesion, and making sure to switch characters accordingly. The last one is a hard one for most players.
I had thought that the payload wouldn't move without players nearby, like in OW, but the UI for the progress bar seems to indicate it does move passively, just it moves faster with more players on the point. I'm fairly sure I did see it hit a checkpoint while no one was on it as well, so I think that indeed may be the case but I'm not sure.
To expand more on who to target. Sometimes, it's not always best to pick the enemies in the order of Strategist > Dualists > Vanguards. In a lot of cases, it's just whoever your team is focusing on. A tank with just 2 people focusing him and 1 person healing him may seem unkillable. However, if 4-6 people on your team focus on him, it will cause their strategists to exhaust cooldowns to keep him alive, and they won't be able to engage or initiate fights as they'll be vulnerable.
The last point is the most important!!! It already caused many games being toxic and end up filled with only sweaty tryhards. Not fun to even begin trying the game.
I'm a healer main, kinda annoyed when the performance of the team is bad they put all the blame to the healer. Meanwhile nobody gonna play as a healer--
Luv ya merchant. To my surprise I am so stoked for Rivals. As an Apex enjoyer who has watched countless hours of your content, I am so happy to see you here.
Doing more damage than my entire team as Jeff with 18k healing with no other supports on my team is a me problem in ranked I’ve got to work on myself more and get 50k healing and 30k damage to win I guess because I’ve got to work on myself and that’s why we’re losing 😔
I main a few characters, normally i let everyone else pick their character first and then pick the main i think will work best with the team, but please if im healer. Dont just leave me to die and then whine when your not getting healed.
Honestly playing supports can be rly fun! Mantis is a dmg machine! Jeff can wipe half of the enemies in an instant! Loki can also wipe teams with his ult! And cloak and dagger makes ur own team almost immortal if played right! so yeah Supports can be a lot of fun! And its rather common to outdamage the dps characters as well! TLDR: Play more support! Its fun!
Nice video!! I play this kind of games since Quake 3 and UnrealTournament 2004. But most recently, say, TeamFortress2 or Overwatch, you tend to find people that is 'alergic' to objectives. Capture the point? They're never on the point, push a payload? They're never near the payload haha. Also I liked the part when you mention about saving your Ultimate/Special ability for the right moment. By doing this you can also counter other ultimates. I am for the moment a main Psylocke(yea I was a main Genji xD) and when there is a Scarlet Witch in the other team I Always save my ultime for her "Puuuureee Chaooosss" and simply delete her before she explodes(it's funny because sometimes the Scarlet Never uses her ultimate if I keep mine ready hahahahha). So, good tips, looking forward for more of your content. Thanks
While it's beneficial to play different characters and assess both your play style AND the characters that work best for you, I'd argue that once you found someone that you're comfortable with and good with there is nothing wrong with not changing your character the whole match. The people that are constantly changing characters are the ones struggling most of the time in my experience.
Absolutely true on the first point. If you should always have more then one main, sometimes the character you want to play just isn’t going well, or even someone else on the team is better with them then you. People need to learn to switch up and try characters in quick play before they actually play ranked
the payload does move on its on in this game as long as the other team doesnt stop the cart... more people on the payload does still make it go faster though so still want to prioritize being around it
Im new to these types of games and am loving the practice range + custom room with AI bots + playing against bots with real people. These modes have helped me to slowly figure out whats even happening in the matches and the flow of the game. Sometimes I'll throw a couple hard bots on my team so they can carry me while i work on learning a new character. Im super glad they have these modes to help super noobs like myself ✌🏻
Awesome video! Thanks for the tips. Love how strategic your approach is to the game and that you broke down which roles should be targeted first. Also completely agree with the last point, that's why in online matches I always try to be cartoonishly nice to my teammates to help with morale (Even though we're losing) it makes the game much lighter overall.
This is a really good video. Lots of things I know, or at least should know from OW, but it’s to get refreshed and get a reset. Also very positive told too! All mistakes any of can make from bronze to masters, and maybe need to be reminded…Oh yeah, don’t trickle in because you’re so excited to play this cool new hero…I’m definitely doing too much of that!
Great video I defo agree with everything stated, I thought it was all common sense and have been thinking the same. The only annoying thing is when people wanna leave a game so they stay afk rather than helping on a random map point
I'm that guy that won't swap characters until it's very clear I've been countered (ergo Punisher against a very good Black Panther or Psylocke). I also don't try to fight for my best role (Duelist) as hard as I should, and these things are ruining my gameplay. I target well for the most part, healers first, then so on. I play pretty well. I don't misposition terribly most of the time. My adaptability is probably my biggest downfall, especially since I know only Moonknight and Punisher for duelist. I need to put time into actual flanking assassins like Ironfist so I can hard carry these games in Plat (nearly Diamond) and help my team properly. Thanks for the videos. I loved your league content up until I swapped off that game (since I wasn't really making progress due to lack of motivation for it). I love what you're doing now equally as much.
See this guy knows how to play. I can agree to disagree on nerfs and buffs but folks dont understand how the game is played. Brody does a good job explaining it
The most important things are: 1. Dont switch to much. Learn some Heros (like 4 diffrent ones) to have a flexible choise. 2 Tanks, 1 DPS, 1 Support. Two Tanks because they have a higher diffrent between each other by the roll of an active Defender or passiv Defender. If u can play 6 Heros, thats fine to. But u need to care about ur Hero. 2. Use the Ult with one of two intentions: --1. I want Kill them all. (Support them all) or --2. I want force the enemy team to Ult.
Wait, you only lose *some* of it?? I had assumed you would lose the whole ult so I’d hang on to a character even if I was planning to switch until I used ult.
@@BurnsyRuns Pretty sure you lose the whole Ult but I could be wrong Losing some of it will still take you under 100% so in a way, you are losing it even if its only some of your Ult meter
@@QuantumBunnyyy yeah but still, idk, there are emergency situations where getting the counterpick early could be worth it. I think the next quick play game I have that seems rather hopeless im going to test and see how much of it you keep
One thing I noticed is if your ult charge is above 50% and you swap characters, it will set the ult charge at 50%, so if you're pretty close to having your ult, it may be worth waiting to swap depending on how close you are. Still, it's nice that you don't lose all of it, like a certain other game that shall not be named 😂
In ranked, i agree about knowing when to switch heroes. In non-ranked, you probably should just log off and play something else if you're getting upset if someone isn't doing great or doesn't change heroes. It literally doesn't matter to anyone other than "numbers" people, but it's not important.
For competitive yes, do all those things. For quickplay just do the last one, Im not saying "throw," just do your best, play smart, and see a need fill a need if your team is getting stomped, not just losing but absolutely rolled. After getting tired of Overwatch before all the reasons to actually leave it I realized as the game got older the stress of losing came more and more rampant even in quickplay, specifically from teammates. I like this early "honeymoon" phase every new multiplayer game is in and it could honestly stay that way if people would just chill and have fun regardless if they lose. Just try YOUR best and if you have teammates that are braindead just think, "eh whatever."
To go with instalocking/refusing to flex, it helps to find a couple of heroes from each role that you enjoy. If all you touch is DPS, then all you'll play is DPS and you'll never be able to flex if your team really needs it. A good DPS is better than a useless tank, but a decent tank is better than having 5-6 DPS, and that extends out to healers too. Some tanks play like DPS, and some healers can act like DPS as well as long as you make moderate effort to heal. Some people never flex because they never bothered to try a single hero from the other roles. They might find the other roles "boring" or they might just want to get kills because that's the most exciting thing that you can do. Yes shooting and killing is fun, but if you're gonna be a no-flex rarely swap person *while* taking ranked seriously, then you're doing yourself and your teammates a major disservice.
Popping your ult first is usually the best move. You either force out their ults or they don’t ult and you win that team fight. Obviously it’s situational, but popping ult first is usually the move. Especially since they come back so quickly in this game.
Last one goes a long way. Ive once played with a Hawkeye who was badmouthing our support Jeff, because Jeff was playing more like a duelist than a support. It was a practise game against bots, nothing too serious, but the guy kept trashtalking. Just keep in mind that not everyone can play the game smoothly, and you need to learn a bit about each character, so be patient and instead of talking bad, try giving them advice, politely.
Look man, I solo-Queue Strategist/Vangaurd player and I'd like to climb comp, but I get the WORST games. Literally the whole enemy team frags out. I mean, I had a game where a Thor and a Magik walked at my team and we died. Kept happening till they won. Pressed Tab to see the enemies kills and it went from top to bottom 42 34 42 22 17 and 6. I try to kill healers, but I get shredded by them (Mantis) My guess is I'm queued up against a team that's queued up together in vc with more synergy. All I can ask now is how do I solo-queue lol
Hey Merchant, here from TGM - looks like you have something great growing here. I'm not into Rivals at all but I'll be watching to get any knowledge I have of the game from you pookie
i hate low elo atm I was the only healer and was getting yelled at for dying cause the enemy was just targeting me and flanking, and they weren't dying since they had two healers. This video is definitely what everyone should know before playing. Being nice to support = more support players.
One thing you can add for number 4 targeting is to also maybe take note of enemy positioning could of been good to tie into number 5 since if a tank is too rushy and dives your team far from their own they have no help which can be an easy pick if they are out of position some characters can be very good at helping with that like groots walls and winter soilders grab.
There's mastering the character, and mastering the game. Becoming a better marvel rivals player is not the same as becoming a better player. It requires switching comps to counter your enemy team. I can see tournament comps switching very very often to counter each other back to bacj
If you refuse to switch in a hero shooter like this, you should uninstall tbh. Especially since not every character is good in every map, every mode, or against every team.
9:56 think a lot of ppl don’t expand out to try and practice other heroes so when they’re in PVP they’re pigeon holed into a single hero/role. I’ve made it a habit to regularly do like 30-60mins of vsAI and use a different hero/role every third game. I find 2 games w one hero is usually enough to pick up the basics and learn whether I enjoy playing that hero or not.
One more tip i wish more people knew was ignore the scoreboard and die more. Sometimes you have to die on point to get the most value, trying to live longer when most of your team is dead already is just charging all the enemies ults or staggering your team making it harder to respawn and push together
Good video but there is a penalty for switching heroes. You lose up to 50% of your ult charge. It's likely in place to prevent people choosing a "battery" hero to build a quick ult then switching.
Ive noticed most people wont counter swap heros once the match starts. If the enemy has a iron man thats destroying us, if im dps ill switch to hawkeye or Widow. If the enemy team has multiple healers ill go spider man to quickly take out one healer. If we dont have a tank and they have 2 tanks ill switch to groot to both tank and help with making choke points. Nobody really does this though. Most people pick 1 hero and stick with it even when theyre being countered.
I'm a support main. Seeing by how rare it is for anybody to choose those roles I feel I take a pretty good spot. I've ran into a few groups where we have a 2/2/2 ratio across the board and absolutely slam full Duelist teams. DPS isn't everything
The one that makes me rage is the whole team shooting Venom when there is a Luna and a Jeff right behind him healing their asses off..."Venom is OP...literally unkillable!' *eye roll*
I've led the majority of my matches as a tank especially any defense or stationary attack point matches cause I play Peni and I get 40 kills easily! Half of them I don't even try to get people just dive bomb themselves on my mines😂
‘Um actually’ there’s kinda a penalty for changing character - you lose charge for your ultimate. Not to say you shouldn’t, but still something to keep in mind.
I'm often kill leader as Cloak and Dagger or Peni Parker. I do the same thing with being flexible for a few games and then hard locking my dps main. Unless I'm feeling like playing non-dps then that's just a bonus for everyone
"Most people will just pop their ultimate as soon as it's available"
Me choosing between...
1) forgetting I have an ultimate
2) holding my ultimate for the "right" moment and then the game ends.
yeah, i've always been the type to save my ult for just the right moment, which sometimes never comes around, and then i go whole match without ever using it.
For tank: Wasting enemy time, resources=Worth the Ult
DPS=Get 1 or more kills=Worth the Ult
Support=Saving 1+ life= Worth the Ult
Too many people wait the entire game for that *PERFECT* play, when they could have used their ults more than a handful of times to force a play

When I play solo queue it’s like my team has never played a video game ever before
I've had the opposite experience weirdly.
And when i solo it seems all the fucking pro players are on at the same time i am…
Every time I play solo, my team always start with 5 dps and I have to end up begging someone to go either tank or support. Why the hell are people so scared of playing support or tank?
Matchmaking feels completely random to me. No 2 games feel the same.
tbh i think a lot of people who don't play games like this are playing the game bc they know the characters. i don't play games in this genre but i wanted to check it out and I'm having fun lol.
also this game is so hectic sometimes that you don't even know what's going on at times lol
Speaking as a healer... no, please don't target me first.
When he said "keep your healer alive" I had to laugh a bit. Bc as a support main, pugs RARELY care about me 😢
@LyricSnowe I just keep getting lumped with players who think it's Call of Duty, and run around chasing kills, even though there's a clear objective; damn near impossible to hit proper heals when I have to go haring across the map because the Punisher thinks kills are more important, or I get lambasted at the objective because I'm the only one there.
@@LyricSnowethe only time someone cared for me when i play healer was if someone else is playing healer. It was just me playing as Luna and a Mantis healing each other
@@LyricSnowe They care when you're not healing them because you're dead.

Vanguards: Thing, Sif, Titania, Songbird, Captain Marvel, Medusa, The Hood, Colossus
Strategists: Ultron, Invisible Woman, Elixir, Emma Frost, Domino, Mephisto, Silver Sable, Viper, Exodus
@ianpolicarpio7969 exactly 💯

Nice info. Thnx.

Now thats not gonna work every time but the point is dont stress on ya comp
so easy when you're talking about having a coordinated team, pretty sure you haven't reached to top 500 solo queuing

I've seen the tanks chase instead
It actually keeps moving on its own until the other team stops it.
As a former OW 1 player a lot of the same game-sense tips apply to Rivals
• Don't stagger your spawn (stick with your squad unless you need to trigger overtime)
• Know good combos for ults
• Know when your opponents may or may not have their ult and be prepared to react to them
The Merchant pretty much covered the rest o7
GLHF
also another thing I want to add as a person who has reached diamond, Its ok to use your ult even if its just to get one person.
This is a good one, I hate how often people just focus on their kills but we still lose because they weren't pushing the cart
But how do I aim better and not miss everything?
That my friend is a journey you must take alone😢😢😢
On controller it’s a bit harder for some characters. I feel like on PC it’s just way easy to aim compared to controller certain characters are meh on controller and then on PC. It’s like what how😅
If ur on Console there are some good videos for sensitivity setting that have helped me, otherwise, practice is key.
Practice range + mess with settings + practice = the beast you can be
That's just one of those things you have to practice at.
There is a small potential penalty to hero swapping. Ult charge resets to 50% if you have more than 50%
I don’t play competitive shooters ( I come from fighting games) & I find myself being the one to sacrifice and play what is needed for the team, but it leads to me performing the worse on the team at times, which leads to toxicity towards me in chat rooms, then I become the same way.
Genius. S teir suggestion on changing characters for strategy and not just preference like I have been doing.
This is the first hero shooter that I like playing tank and not just support. So, I switch between support or tank as needed.

I'm fairly sure I did see it hit a checkpoint while no one was on it as well, so I think that indeed may be the case but I'm not sure.
you are correct, unlike OW the payload moves on its own with no one on it
There also seems to be a brief capture time before it starts moving forwards again, also indicated by the UI.
It does move faster with people near it, so there is incentive to be nearby, but yeah it does move depending on who has control.
You will not stop me from using the funny shark
Meanwhile nobody gonna play as a healer--
I play this game with one of my best friends that is always in the chat shit talking his randoms after a loss and it honestly pisses me off.
5:40, I swear, if all my teammates just realises supports are what keeps their team alive, we would win so much more
Luv ya merchant. To my surprise I am so stoked for Rivals. As an Apex enjoyer who has watched countless hours of your content, I am so happy to see you here.
I’m happy this channels is prospering. Thanks for the tips!
Doing more damage than my entire team as Jeff with 18k healing with no other supports on my team is a me problem in ranked I’ve got to work on myself more and get 50k healing and 30k damage to win I guess because I’ve got to work on myself and that’s why we’re losing 😔
I stubborn lock Vanguard all the time because nobody plays Vanguard 😆.
Especially in bronze or quick match, thanks to tht though I have gotten so good at Vanguard, I am familiar with all the vanguard heroes
@ Same! I can play most of the Vanguard cast pretty decently. I only have trouble with Hulk .
Venom is so fun. If we already have healers I go to him. I can't believe more don't like tanking it up.
@@InfiniteQuest86 Venom has to be one of the most fun heroes to play.
Luna Snow is loads of fun. I’m going to work on Cloak and Dagger next.
She's my favorite, I feel like a DPS/CC character because she does great damage and healing just kinda happens when you miss shots in teamfights.
Yeah. Still learning her. But daggers infinite left click helps a bit against assassins like iron fist or Psylock.
I got hatedcrimed today because i played shyte and the last advice really was refreshing to watch
Watched the vid, now watching it again to write down notes I can look at later. Just started getting into Hero shooters this was super helpful!!
Another thing about the chariot or the objective you push, it does a little healing to you too if you are on the objective and you hold it
Great video I defo agree with everything stated, I thought it was all common sense and have been thinking the same.
Brody does a good job explaining it
This video helped me understand that im doing almost everything right and the reason im dying is either because im bad or my team is lol.
@5:37 after you kill the healer, you kill the strategists? I thought strategists were the healers???
This tips looks like it's for starters but I don't think they can pull a psylocke to kill backline
The most important things are:
2. Use the Ult with one of two intentions:
--1. I want Kill them all. (Support them all)
or
--2. I want force the enemy team to Ult.
0:55 you do lose some of your ult meter.
Usually you switch after ulting. That’s how I’d do it in OW
Facts.
Dang u nailed everything essentially. Btw Psylocke and Cloak&Dagger FTW!
Thank you for the video. I agree gamers should not be jerks, and have fun whether you’re good or not. It’s sucks that gamers miss that these days
Thank you for promoting positivity!
I’m always excited to test my Spider-man skills only for it to be exclusively duelists and have to change to either Jeff or Luna.
Umm when u don’t switch that usually means their trying to master that character
Loved that last advice
9:56 think a lot of ppl don’t expand out to try and practice other heroes so when they’re in PVP they’re pigeon holed into a single hero/role. I’ve made it a habit to regularly do like 30-60mins of vsAI and use a different hero/role every third game. I find 2 games w one hero is usually enough to pick up the basics and learn whether I enjoy playing that hero or not.
There are allways kids who play ranked bit have 0 gamesense at all a thinking dps with 0-7 will win the game lol
I want to point out that the payload does move with no one on it as long as the attacking team has it captured. Just very slowly.
A good healer that knows how to KO and heal equally in my opinion is the most valuable player in these types of games
Personally, it's okay to insta-lock whatever. But what's more important is to be flexible. One-tricking is asking to be hard countered.
Wolverine gets no love… Very few people seem to realiz that like Wanda, he’s a tankbuster.
One more tip i wish more people knew was ignore the scoreboard and die more. Sometimes you have to die on point to get the most value, trying to live longer when most of your team is dead already is just charging all the enemies ults or staggering your team making it harder to respawn and push together
Loved this hope everyone watches cuz jeez
The one that makes me rage is the whole team shooting Venom when there is a Luna and a Jeff right behind him healing their asses off..."Venom is OP...literally unkillable!'
*eye roll*
The payload does move even when no one’s on it as long as you’ve capped it but does move a lot slower
