For posable cosplay arms, consider feeding some thick alluminum wire, rolled and bunched up for strength. It might take some playing around to get it right, but it should help keep things steady and help out getting interesting and diversified shots at the conventions or photoshoots.
oh yeah that'd totally work. like thick armature wire.
What size of wire do you think would work for that much weight? Though about making some for Halloween.
Literally I was working on figuring out how to make Dr. octopus arms until now!! Thanks so much dude!!!!!!!
No problem!!
Dude same 😃
Just bought my first sheet of foam because of you jake! I'm currently working on a chest piece for my redhood cosplay!
nice!
M a n. This is a smart and helpful tutorial- i was stuck trying to make the arms on my own! Youre a life saver 🙌
Thanks, Glad I could help!
All the tutorials I’ve found are hard and has a lot of materials i barely know enough about but this tutorial is the best one!!! Thank you so much for this!
No problem, happy to help!
The Power of the Sun in the Palm of my Hands.
this was super awesome!! i’ve been slaving over plans for a cosplay im doing for a convention in september which involves robotic arms- i plan on 3-D printing each individual segment and threading them onto conduit, but i can’t seem to figure out a way to make the arms stay in place if i am to pose them (if that makes sense lol). i feel like my best bet would be either very thick wire or flexible coolant pipe. i’m totally up for suggestions if anyone has any :)
I'd recommend pvc pipe with joints for the bends.
I just got nostalgic for this channel. Used to watch the Star Wars videos. Glad to see this channel is still doing great!
Thanks for watching! Keep an eye out for the star wars videos I've got coming up!
Holy hell yes I have been waiting for you to do this, i was late to watch it. I am making a doc ock cosplay and I am so happy you made this vid. 😃
awesome!
@@WilliamJakespeareProps pls make carnage mask
Guy, let me tell you something You're not kidding about dexterity. I Cosplay him as well. My new one stands from floor to top of arm is 7 ft and I'm about 3 and 1/2 ft wide
Oh, cool! I'm gathering materials at the moment to cosplay him next year, and this will be my first hardware/building focused cosplay (everything else I've done was mainly sewing). If you've got any advice, I'd love to hear it, because I'm feeling very intimidated by the build...
Would love to see the finished product with all 4 arms..... Nice DIY
Thanks, it's in a quick sketch at the end of the video. Kind of a blink and you'll miss it moment.
You should do a part 2, putting motors or a form of controls on the tentacle so it can move and bend.
I've started my build and God you're so right about it mostly being cutting out the notches 😭 I. Taking a break on my sixth tube
hang in there!
Commenting right after seeing that opening shot, because I can't resist my urge to tell you bravo immediately.
thanks!
yes i have also accumulated a lot of craft foam in my projects as well. keep crafting
you got it!
Actually, you're always a joy to watch, Dude! I learn so much...
A Merry Christmas to you and yours, Master Jakespeare!
Have a great time, and stay safe - I'll raise a flagon or two in your honour.
Season's greetings! :)
thanks, good to hear!
I watched this today! Its soooo good
thanks! oh, you meant the movie... that too!
I got a belt sander for Christmas, went straight to your channel to find projects to test it out! Merry Christmas!
congrats!
@@WilliamJakespeareProps thanks!
could you explain a bit more what the purpose of the rope is exactly? is it to make the claws move or?? lol I'm slightly confused on that partt
it's to puppeteer the arms. it's not necessary if you're making unmoving arms
Chainsaws were originally medical tools actually. They were meant to cut bone more quickly and efficiently than a hand saw, the utility of this wasn’t lost on people and was then upscaled for use in wood cutting.
Holy cow! This looks amazing! ❤️
This gives me an idea on the doc ock costume.
awesome! glad i could help!
Glorious jazz hands lol
thanks!
I'm definitely going this in the future
go for it!
@@WilliamJakespeareProps I've been thinking about doing a doc oc cosplay for a while, I just hadn't come up with a good game plan. This is definitely going to help when I get around to it
God jake u are a madlad. So incredibly inspiring Merry Christmas!!!!!
Happy New Year!
Hello, Jake.
Get it? im so funny.
oh yeah took a minute though. I'm just as confused.
These arms could also be used as Matrix Sentinel arms. LOL! Imagine building a life size Matrix Sentinel.
totally!
How did you not have a scene where you dropped something looked directly at the camera and said "oops butterfingers"
gah, missed opportunity!
The ending killed me 😂
glad that joke landed!
You also don’t want foam dust up your nose, it’s irritating but not sneeze inducing. Also turns your boogers black which can lead to questions when you blow your nose
That’s so cool! Thank you so much!!
No problem!!
Nice work Jake
Thanks!
Fun fact about chain saws, originally they were used to aid in child birth but I’m assuming they were a little smaller
I'm not sure how fun that fact is.
@@WilliamJakespeareProps now for a proper fun fact, initially tobeys Spider-Man was gonna have mechanical web shooters but that idea got canned very early on, there’s even clips of Tobey using them!
Looks fantastic loved the video
Thanks, Glad you enjoyed it!
Cue Doc Ock's Theme!
They have chainsaws at hospitals, dude. Amputation is a necessary thing sometimes. In fact, the original use of a chainsaw WAS medical amputation. They were hand-cranked at the time, and it used to be two words, "Chain Saw."
A doctor friend of mine disagrees. She uses a stryker saw. Plus I'm pretty sure they were invented for sawmills.
Were the C shaped cuts in the pool noodles purely for looks or do you need to cut them to make the arms flexible?
I needed to do that for flexibility, but I think it also helps the look.
@@WilliamJakespeareProps Ok thanks!!
@@WilliamJakespeareProps I think I'll make it so I wanted to be sure.
no problem!
Ive had the idea of doing doc. ock as a cosplay for a long time but i fear making the arms so big as to not be able to fit through doors anymore!
Impressive.👍🏼
Thanks Norman!
Can you make his glasses next please
I think they're just old goggles
Also jake as Spider-Man makes me think of old Peter from into the spidervers
thanks?
Question how long where the pool noodles you used for the claws?
This is way easier than making multiple plating that goes over the conduit.
yeah i thought so.
@@WilliamJakespeareProps Very creative with the pool noodles. I actually might use this technique when I make my cosplay.
@@Wxyver_n go for it!
Hey Jake.are you willing to make anything from the book of boba fett?
working on it right now!
@@WilliamJakespeareProps nice!
This is my comment to appease the great algorithm
praise be to the algorithm! Amen.
I'm curious, you've done many star wars helmet builds but somehow haven't done the fleet trooper helmet, what are the odds of that getting a video.
imperial or rebel?
@@WilliamJakespeareProps Rebel.
@@ryanmerlino4928 Okay cool. I've done a lot of preliminary work on that, it's coming up in the future.
Do Green Goblin's glider on a skateboard
Hey Jake! Im planning on building this but I don't know how I should attach it to a backplate. Any ideas?
cut up an old backpack.
@@WilliamJakespeareProps bet
Dude I literally made mine a few years ago the exact same way, was wondering if anyone had done it the same way, 😅🤟
great minds think alike i guess!

Can anyone tell me what that tool is called? I looked up calipers and it’s a measuring tool not a grabber tool
Forceps. I misspoke.
Hmm... Shizzle Shizzle. I give you a 1 out of 10 for effort... "Must try harder"".
@@richardcoleman3425 uh… what?
When will you have those templates available?
They're up now!
You just did the claws. I was hoping for you to do the arms themselves
@@SonOfSteel they're pool noodles.
@@WilliamJakespeareProps ok
You should put in a template for Doc Ock lower arms because their not pincer-like
Pizza time confirmed?!
haha, yeah you know it!
I posted a Doc Ock diy video a few hours before you.
Nice green goblin helmet’

Am I the only one who thinks Jake looks a little bit like Tobey Maguire?
I'll take it!
