All the leitmotives in the third phase are from different levels of the game 9:41 - The Death I Deservioli 10:00 - Cold Spaghetti 10:57 - Oregano Mirage 12:14 - Don't Preheat Your Oven Because If You Do The Song Won't Play 12:43 - Tombstone Arizona
Phase 1 - Pizzaface Basically just think of it as a normal boss fight against the main antagonist Phase 2 - Pizzahead Unexpectancy, turns out Pizzaface was a machine, and Pizzahead, a cartoonish character was in control. Phase 3 - Peppinos theme Fakeout! Pizzahead has a 3rd face. Brings back the bosses, but enexpectancy, Peppino has had enough and just attacks all the bosses like an angry Gorilla. This is no longer a boss fight against anyone else *its their boss fight against you.* TLDR; Phase 1 - Stop Pizzaface, save your Restaurant. Phase 2 - Stop Pizzahead, save your Restaurant? Phase 3 - Pizzahead isnt the boss fight anymore, *you are.*
The scary part of phase 2 is the idea of fighting a cartoon-like enemy. Imagine fighting someone who obeys a different reality of physics, mortality and order. It's truly terrifying because they're pretty much a god to you, all powered by humor. Like they're laughing at you, toying with you. It's why "who framed roger rabbit" has one of the most scariest bad guys. They're the literal embodiedment of insanity and yet, even with your handicap, you have to face them.
Unexpectancy is in three parts, the first, you fight Pizza Face, second, you fight Pizza Head, in the third, Pizza Head heals himself and then tries to pull the boss rush bs, but Peppino had enough, unleashes his rage and what are usually 16 hits per boss, is reduced to 4 with a rush of fast and powerful hits that take half of the bosses' life. In the end, the final hit of Pizza Head is a cinnematic, Peppino punches him endlessly, raising in the air and then makes a power bomb with Pizza Head, burrying his head in the floor.
12:28 I bet you only said that because it sounded familiar, and it should, that’s the melody from Don’t Preheat Your Oven/Celsius Troubles! Pretty transformative huh? Obviously you caught the Spaghetti and Death that I Deservioli references. Tracks you haven’t heard that were referenced were Tombstone, Arizona and Oregano Mirage
You should give a listen to tombstone arizona and thousand march they're amazing themes i've been enjoying your reaction series on pizza tower thus far and i'm looking forward for more of it!
Phase one: PizzaFace theme Phase two: PizzaHeads theme Phase three: *peppinos theme* I love how phase three of the boss fight is setup to match the music. You arent trapped in a boss rush. *the Bosses are trapped in there with you*
If you tell someone who didn't know the context that this is the music for an Italian chef punching a guy with a pizza head in the face, they would say you are on crack.
hell yeah I'm so happy you did this! unexpectancy 1 is insane, phase 2 is even more insane, and then phase 3 goes FULL ANIME CLIMACTIC FIGHT THEME YOU'VE MADE THE PIZZA MAN ANGRY, AND NOW YOU WILL PAY, WITH AN 80% TIP!
Unexpectancy really lives up to its name, doesn't it? Also, this has already been brought up before no doubt, but the song that part 2 uses samples from is a 1920 Irving Berlin song called "After You Get What You Want, You Don't Want It". Edit: Just want to mention that the video you used to do this reaction cut off certain sections of the song and mixed the three parts poorly. It kind of stinks, because that's the most popular video for Unexpectency and thus the one people are most likely to go with in terms of reactions and covers/remixes.
Here is a tidbit on Phase 2's music: It uses samples from a song from 1920, "After you get what you want, You don't want it" by Irving Berlin. It is about a spoiled child which demands many things because it "wants" them, yet once it "gets what it wants" it just tossed them aside "not wanting it anymore". Petulant behaviour but also symbolic for the Boss, Pizzahead, who owns the eponymous Pizza Tower but ends up throwing it all in the bin by trying to drive Peppino mad/out of business (even though he already struggled to pay the bills). When he "gets what he wants", Peppino's attention and later rage, he's too late to stop the angry Italian from trashing his place no matter how much he "doesn't want" it anymore.
I agree with this comment. We can only assume Pizzahead was a millionaire due to his status of the tower. So he had all the money he ever wanted and all the power he could want. Plus during his rule of the tower he also did a plethora very bad things…. He cloned John, cloned Pepino, and owns several other dangerous things that could take peoples lives. Yet he sees a poor, struggling man, like Pepino, and decides he has not had enough fun. So when he finally pushes his own luck, the tower collapses , and he loses everything that he worked really hard for.
So the boss rematch section breaks down that hard because the boss is pulling the rest of the games bosses up to the rooftop you two are on, and the main character has a nervous breakdown from the sheer stress. But of course the main character is beyond psychotic, so he goes even more berserk and animalistically starts tearing them apart one by one before pildriving pizzahead into the top of the tower itself. This nearly causes the tower itself to collapse before he can set out to tear it down himself in the final level.
9:40 that oart of the song has the motif from another song from pizza tower called "the death i deserviolli" sounds when you have a perfect combo and pass the level again as a "lap 2" theme (its called like that) This boss figth is the same, all the bosses, round 2
so, the last words of 'top 5 boss themes' got me thinking. I don't think I *could* pick just 5 themes. but one of the first that came to mind is the final boss theme of crash bandicoot 3. If you do listen to it, I recommend listening to the remake's version of it :)

Nice call back to that movie. I knew the underlying theme of a cartoon villain in a real world scenario was terrifying.
Its popeye vs Saitama. Yeah, hes powerful, but popeye alters reality

a really good song from the same game that you should listen to is a song called "bye bye there" or "the death that I Deservioli" and "Thousand march"
