  • Time to replace the steering stem bearing on my Yamaha Raptor 700. Pretty easy to do but a little tough to reach. Overall, it is a pretty easy and cheap fix.

      Go to motion pro, they have +2 cables and write down part #. Then either order directly or go somewhere else that sells motion pro cables and verify part #. They usually sell as stock replacement but are actually +2. Again, double check #. Most places sell them.

    What size nut did you use and what size do you think would fit better?

    • @Team2Gils
      @Team2Gils  Год назад

      Don't remember and I cannot find my old nut to measure it. When you get your stem and upper seal out, take a measurement and head to the hardware store. Think I used a 3/4 inch nut but not positive. It was a little small but it worked.

      @@TheGreatBigShow that's a little over and inch, probably pretty close.

      @@TheGreatBigShow I found the nut I bought, it measures 1 1/8 inches outside diameter. For the life of me, I cannot find my old stem bearing retaining nut. I kept it but not sure where it went.

    How did you get the retaining nut back on the new bearing? I can't get it to catch onto the threads.

    • @Team2Gils
      @Team2Gils  Год назад

      Make sure threads are real clean, and make sure bearing is pressed all the Wan in, then you should be able to get it started pretty easily.

    Hi do you have to remove your fuel tank to do this job ? i have ordered my bearing and seal kit because my hande bar have play in it did you also change out the upper plastic bushing . i also ordered the upper steering stem bushing just in case the old one is bad .Thanks

    • @Team2Gils
      @Team2Gils  Год назад +1

      You just need to slide your tank back so you can get to the upper stem bushing. If you can get in there with the tank on, then you should be good. After going through all this effort, I would recommend changing the upper bushing and seals, then you will be 100% good!
