- In a summer roiled by protests for racial justice, Kenosha, Wis., moved into the national spotlight in August after a White police officer shot a Black man named Jacob Blake seven times in the back.
Peaceful protests during the day were followed by rioting and civil unrest at night. Just before midnight on Aug. 25, tensions peaked when a 17-year-old named Kyle Rittenhouse shot and killed 36-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum. Moments later, Rittenhouse shot two other men, one fatally.
Rittenhouse was arrested and charged with multiple counts of homicide and weapons offenses, but right-wing groups have rallied to his cause, celebrating him as a hero who sought to protect Kenosha from destructive rioting and who fired in self-defense. The events have become a litmus test for a deeply divided nation.
A Washington Post examination of video and police records, along with other documents, sheds new light on the mindsets of the two people principally involved. The Post found that Rittenhouse, who was too young to buy a rifle, had arranged for an adult friend to buy the weapon for him using money Rittenhouse had received from a government stimulus program. The Post interviewed Rittenhouse, who spoke publicly for the first time since his arrest. He said he did not regret that he had a gun that night.
The examination also reveals new details about Rosenbaum’s struggles with mental illness and includes the first on-camera interview with his fiancee, Kariann Swart. If you want to march for a cause, and a bunch of violent opportunists show up at your march to fight cops and steal TVs, that doesn't invalidate your cause.

Moral of the lesson do not attack someone especially if they're holding a rifle. Kyle did what he had to do, he protected himself.
The crowd literally kept attacking him even after the first shooting….. imagine what would’ve happened if they got his gun. This wasn’t a “let’s beat him up a little bit” kind of situation. This mob 100% would’ve killed him.

It was the ONLY verdict given all the evidence. Had this been before the "smartphone era" then I suspect things would have gone differently as potentially politically motivated and biased "witnesses" would have replaced actual video footage.

it's funny because it mentions the fact that he mostly lived with his mother 20 miles from Kenosha, without mentioning the fact that Kyle's dad and most of his side of the family LIVES in Kenosha.

also including the bit where Rittenhouse was in tears and vomiting afterwards made me realise that he actually did feel extreme guilt about what he did, but he had no choice. If you want unbiased news, this is it. It shows both sides of the story, if you don’t like one of those sides, then you want biased news. You can make a case for CNN and the late shows labelling this kid a monster being biased, but not this.
Rosenbaum was actively stalking Kyle. There are multiple videos where you can see him hiding in wait for an attack. You wanted self policing, well here you go.

The media including the Washington Post with this video and the facts of that night picked and choose what to include in this video. In other words, they lied. They edited the video and left out very important details that happened that night. They also didn't tell the truth about what kind of a sick degenerate criminal sex offender Rosenbaum was. They sure tried to set him as the victim that night.

Rosenbaum and Huber were both nogoodniks. I believe Rosenbaum was 36 and a loser that was not going to get his life together ever. Huber I have seen his father in interviews saying how upset he is and he will be filing civil suits against Kenosha as well as Rittenhouse. I would say this about the father, he failed his son miserably. He raised a man that was dumber than a can of soup. I don't think they would have contributed to society. And if Huber really felt that Rittenhouse was dangerous he should have rode his skateboard to the nearest cop and point out Rittenhouse as a shooter.

They knew it was self-defense. Prosecuting him and putting him through a criminal trial was their way of harming him as much as they could. “The process is the punishment.”
None of those people would be dead if they were still in prison for the crimes they committed previously.

This is probably the most interesting sum up of the night I’ve found. Hadn’t seen all this footage. Kyle seemed like a decent kid who just wanted to help out. He clearly did not want to shoot anyone. Justice has been served.
After Rittenhouse, the self identified 'medic' shot Rosenbaum in the back 3 times, he then stood over his body: why didn't the self-described medic offer first aid? He didn't: instead he pulled out his cell phone to tell Black "I've just shot somebody" and ran off-to shoot another guy dead-and then severely wound a 3rd. So much for your bullshit claim "he clearly didn't want to shoot anyone". :-((((

They don’t even mention the dude that jump kicked him in the head while he was on the ground or that the last guy shot was coming at Kyle with a pistol.
Thank God he got a fair judge and jury.
They also skip that while running towards the police line, Rittenhouse took two blows to the head; once by an unidentified person who struck him with a broken piece of concrete, and once by Huber's skateboard which he dropped and retrieved before coming in for a second blow.
It is quite likely Rittenhouse was concussed from these blows, evidenced by his description of "tunnel vision" as he approached police after the shootings and by vomiting for hours afterward. These blows probably led to his fall and greatly increased his fear for his life as the mob descended upon him.
It's obvious to me that Kyle didn't _want_ to shoot anyone that night.
The prosecution did Kyle dirty. They apparently had jump kick thug identified but when they talked to him he didn't make a good witness and he wanted immunity from other crimes which they didn't give him so he was never called in to testify. He to would have railroaded the case for sure.
Oh, the one the prosecution KNEW THW NAME OF THE ENTIRE TIME AND HID IT FROM THE DEFENSE?! Oohf. Unreal.
Thank God he did get a fair judge but unfortunately with most people believing all the misleading information from the media and journalists he's gonna be getting alot of hate for life and his life is unfortunately still on extreme danger I really do feel bad for him.

There has been a question raise that The state should be charged with witness tampering. Gage committed a felony a month after the shooting and A-day day before the Trial the state wiped all charges clean so the defense could not bring it up.

I wish people would stop saying that what Kyle did was "community policing". Kyle wasn't being a vigilante. He never tried to stop or aprehend anyone for the rioting. He never even so much as got in a verbal altercation with anyone.
Kyle used a fire extinguisher to protect the property, and a gun to protect himself.
He was only a vigilante in the old Roman sense where they were a fire patrol, to catch fires early and hopefully put them out or at least raise the alarm.+

The video shows a small window where the shooter could have been disarmed. It happens when the shooter falls and the first guy makes an attempt to subdue him. He gets a kick in which makes the shooter fall back from his sitting position almost lying prone on his back. If, and this is a big if, 2 or 3 more guys were running behind the first guy and piled on the shooter, really the rifle, you are talking trying to lift 6 to 7 hundred pounds off the rifle. Then game over.

Rittenhouse didn’t fall - you omitted the other video. He was chased down, struck in the back of the head with a skateboard and then a rock, forcing him to collapse. Then a man attempts to stomp his head, and does, before Huber hits him in the head with a skateboard for a second time while attempting to take his gun with his other hand. Finally, Grosskreutz points an (illegal) Glock firearm at his head.
Only people who chased Kyle down, cornered him, and severely attacked him were shot. Anyone who stopped pursuing him or used anything less than deadly force was not shot at. Self defense.
Worth noting that all four men who chased him down and used deadly force against him, had violent criminal histories. All four had committed some form of battery in their past. Three had battered woman, children and/or the elderly and/or committed breaking and entering. One was a child molester, who molested five boys ages 9 to 11.

The other person shot was pointing a gun at him at the time he got shot in the arm. The way they froze it, they made it look like the skater was shot in the back.
