For those interested, I have an extended considered critique and discussion of "Still Here" on my main channel now: ruclips.net/video/2-jSPNFYaBQ/видео.html
I think the thing with Kayle not putting the helmet back on, was to have the very disdainful look moment. If she had the helmet on, I dont think the look would have carried as much 'umph' if you didnt get the full bombastic sideye
I agree but if they had her with the helmet she could have raised her head in a disdainful manner almost looking down on Morgana for her choice to use her magic and not her divine powers
@@KingSpades Morgana's magic IS her divine powers, it's just manifesting in a different way. IMO the side eye is more "why did you leave our MOMS sword behind and why are you feeling and screaming" (because you know, Kayle is all "I must feel nothing to fight injustice"
@KingSpades But the thing is, they already told the story that youre asking for with the helmet. They just told it with the swords instead. The swords were each one half of their mother's sword (the previous aspect of Justice). The fact that Morgana ditched the sword and Kayle was weildimg both at the end was them literally telling the story that Skyen was asking for. He was just fixated on the helmet instead.
Other thing I realised is that "Kayle want to be like her mother", Mihira always wear a very few pieces of armours to wars, excluding helmet. Kayle doesn't want to be human but that doesn't mean she hate her human form, she hates herself as a human. As much as she ascending to become the Aspect of Justice, she see herself as being less human so now she could show her face as the goddess herself.
One thing that I think is interesting about the kayle and morgana helmet situation is that kayle's helmet is knocked off in the fight against aatrox. In that sense I feel with the idea of kayle wanting to seem inhuman, by having the helmet knocked off by an enemy it's like having her insecurity laid out of still being human, whilst morgana takes it off willingly embracing her human side.
Yes, but at the same time, why wouldn't Kayle put it back, in a symbol of determination, of coldness and stuborness, of strengh/masking her human traits. I don't think Kayle in the way she sees herself as the aspect of justice would go fight aatrox helmetless. That while Morgana cannot bear it, cannot be chained by this immaculate and 'pure', unhuman justice, Kayle absolutely trives in it, in ther divine mother sort of way. Kayle is the truthful heir to the aspect, she should despise her perfect beautiful *human* face. Aatrox and Kindred are absolutely perfect. They're my favorite thing in this video, theway they represented them, they are just canon-lore accurate and so, so cool.
@@rosevalety3408 I mean... Kayle always wants to rise higher. To be higher. If something falls off, then it's physically below her. I don't think Kayle would ever reach down, especially during a fight.
@@rosevalety3408If having the Helmet off is supposed to represent that image of perfection and divinity, then having the helmet off, while picking her sister's blade is her being Vulnerable in that moment to the person she has a HUGE soft spot for.. her sister. During this time period, they very much love one another. It makes no sense for her to be disdainful toward Morgana for using her Celestial powers, the same ones that came from her mother. She's likely trying to save face, while regarding her sister, before refocusing on the object of her ACTUAL disdain, Aattrox.
Interestingly, I think that Kindred wasnt firing that many arrows since she represents a peaceful death and is merely checking whether Trynd is ready to accept a peaceful death or if wolf should continue his hunt.
That's what I thought so too. She even completely lowers her bow when the two arrow came from the back, signifying they're no longer needed at this time. I also think Trynda isn't actually fighting wolf and is probably defending himself from more warriors.
Kindrid leaves bc it realized they cannot take trynd yet due to the undying rage and Ashe has also come to defend him from a possible death.@@DiegoSanstwen
@@pablox2139 it could be interpreted as moments when Tryndamere considered letting himself die and quickly rejecting it and then continuing to fight to stay alive
@@pablox2139 Who is to say that she doesn't shoot many arrows? She only shoots many ingame cause it is a game, in her splash art she only shot one arrow into the fallen soldier that accepted their death. She only needs 1 arrow to end a normal life because 1 arrow is needed for someone who accepts death, a peaceful death no need for a volley of arrow for someone who is letting themself die.
I get your helmet point, but I think they do a better job of representing the swords as weaponized justice. Morgana sets her sword down to fight whereas Kayle takes on enough "justice" for the both of them. At least from a creative standpoint, I think its too important to show their faces and how they're emoting to keep Kayle helmeted, but interesting point.
This, exactly. They tell the story that Skyen is asking for through the swords, not the helmets. The swords were both created from their mother's original sword, and are much more significant to their backgrounds than the helmets are. Their mother was the first aspect of Justice, who passed her powers onto her daughters. Morgana chooses to leave her mother's sword behind to fight, whereas Kayle picks up both swords and fully inherits their mother's legacy. It's great storytelling. I get his point with the design significance of the helmet, but I dont know if it's as important as all that.
The problem with that is there is basically no focus at all on the swords. Even in the cinematics they have simple, unremarkable designs, and the camera shots literally only focus on them once, with Kayle picking it up, and the shot is not even about the object, its just a statement to show why she has 2 of them in the next scene. Besides the swords not being a design narrative, but a lore one. They hold barely any design significance to the two characters, specially on the cinematic, where they don't even have a design that shows that they are two parts of a whole - they are just 2 swords here. The point on Skyen's part is on the humanization that Kayle gets as she goes away from humanity, something we see that even Mihira doesn't get (as she lost her face altogether when she got to the apex of her power). If the storyboard focused on the two swords then it would make more sense, but as it is, there's no real reason why she wouldn't be able to show the bombastic side eye while helmeted - even Kindred, who doesn't have a face, can emote well.
@@felipecouto1102 I wouldn't say there isn't a focus on the swords. There the initial shot of morgana planting the sword into the ground where it cuts to a shot of only the sword being put into the ground, and the very next shot is a focus on the sword that then pans to morgana in front of it. She has quite literally left the sword, and whatever said sword symbolically represents, for her magic. Then there's the next shot of Kayle picking up the sword, signifying more of the same. I do agree with the lore kind of being necessary to make any sense of the swords though, but that could also be said for the cinematic. Not knowing who Kindred is would make the fadeaway to Ashe confusing etc. As far as the sideye goes I do agree that it could've been done with helmet, but I don't think it would have the same expression. Its harder to show a disdainful glance without having access to eyebrows etc. than it is Kindred's intrigue or those thugs laughing at yasuo.
If I had a nickel for every time a multiplayer online game published an animated cinematic where a ranged fighter named Ashe was smoothed out and unblemished compared to the male champion she was opposite to in the same short, I would have two nickels. Which isn't much, but it is weird that it's happened twice.
Why is it weird it's happened twice? Do you have statistical evidence that it's weird? Many things happen twice!!!! 🧐 Sometimes lightening actually does strike the same spot twice or many more times than just twice.
@@nomisunrider6472 Honestly not as much as I thought (it's been a while since I played R6 or watched the cinematics). There is a character named Ash who seemed like a typical unblemished army girl at her release. Not sure if there is an operator she's opposite to but most of the original characters were pretty gruff. Watching one of the newer cinematics though it doesn't seem like it's entirely the case anymore (ruclips.net/video/kqDwcjF5gW8/видео.html). You can make your own opinions but her face seems pretty realistic and at least slightly "blemished" while still being objectively good looking. I guess it's really only LoL and OW where your description fits.
I’m really obsessed with the representations Kindred has in all of these scenes. In the Aatrox scene, Lamb is seen in the final frames of Kayle’s fiery attack, only standing there. Lamb does nothing, because they can only watch, as Aatrox cannot die. In the Yasuo future scene, we can see Wolf’s silhouette and eyes in the forest. Wolf is the half who will chase you down and mercilessly eat your soul if you don’t accept death, and I love the use of them here. Moments ago, we saw Yasuo use the wind wall to block the rain of arrows. In that moment, Yasuo could’ve blocked it again, fight against his incoming death, so Wolf watches. Eager to see if he’ll fight his fate. Instead, Yasuo closes his eyes and accepts the swift end of Lamb’s bright white arrow, which then transitions into Tryndamere’s scene. While in his head, Tryndamere is fighting Kindred, fighting for his life, while in real life, he’s fighting the other people seen at the start of the cinematic. Wolf is the one fighting, as Tryndamere is refusing to die, while Lamb merely watches, firing an arrow every so often to see if he will finally accept death. About to fire a third, Lamb stops. Kindred knows this is not Tryndamere's time to die, as Ashe arrives to save Tryndamere from the 2 enemies behind him. Kindred turns to Ash(e), as he is saved
Lamb is also there in the fire of the 1st scene not for Aatrox but for his vessel the Darkin steal and repurpose human bodies for the own ends bit their consciense is supressed. The sisters actually killed the human that Aatrox was puppetiring and that's why Kindred is there to take that poor soul away, it must suck to have your body hijacked by Aatrox.
Watch Necrit’s video for the in-depth explanation, but here’s the gist: The scene shows a future Yasuo who has completely rejected using the wind technique since all it’s done for him is take the lives of others and ruin his own. This is why he uses a staff instead of his sword and only knocks back the first two raiders, he doesn’t want to kill anymore. But when he gets hit, he realizes he can’t protect people without his wind technique, which is why he drops the staff and picks up the sword. It’s symbolizing him returning to his path. Anyways, even though he is using the wind technique, he still refuses to kill. What he’s actually doing is using the wind to knock his opponents down, deliberately missing his strikes since he’s only using them to channel his power. When he is faced with the rain of arrows, he could have used the wind wall again to protect himself (cooldowns don’t exist in cinematics), but instead he uses his tornado to push the last raider away. That’s why we see Lamb’s arrow coming down, Yasuo accepted his death
This read on it completely negates his sacrifice because he doesn’t save the village. He just slightly inconveniences the raiders and then dies. Pardon me for being blunt, but that is a really stupid scene on a storytelling level. The raiders would just get back up, dust themselves off, and continue pillaging.
My interpretation of the "taking their helmets off" scene is Kayle and Morgana showing their true self by quite literally taking their masks off. Morgana discards her mother's sword in favor of using magic and while in the context of the fight it helped them defeat Aatrox, Kayle shows her disapproval regardless. Morgana then falls to the ground, accepting her mortality (The Fallen) meanwhile Kayle "ascends", rejecting it. I don't think it would have carried the same emotions if Kayle's face was obscured, although I do agree that in game it's silly to have her show her face off the more she ascends, but I guess pretty woman goes brrrr
You can still do it with Kayle using a helmet, Kindred is proof of that, i would say its even better because people catching that will have more interpretations than just "Kayle is a dick".
Regarding Kayle and Morgana, I think the cinematic takes place in a time where the sisters have yet to take radical steps in their ideology yet, even when they have differences. Kayle upholds her duty as one of the twin aspects of justice but she has yet to reject and have a very critical viewpoint of humanity like she would be now and Morgana has a softer spot for humans but she has yet to become so emotionally distraught that she reject her divinity so the divide between the sisters is still less visible. And I think having them appear similar despite their differences is storytelling in of itself too. Kayle and Morgana are cut from the same cloth, being thousand years old demigods so they are expected to be immaculate and perfect in appearance, but end up choosing different paths and ideals. Morgana doesn't have to be an uglier person just to makes her closer to humans and in fact her willingly step down to be closer to humans at the core despite her divine lineage makes it more compelling in my opinion. Their divergence stems from ideology and approach of justice, with their catastrophic battle being the breaking point, rather any baser factors and they are treated in more or less the same way up until their split makes it a fairer representation for both sides.
This right here is one of the best ways to put it. She shows her lack of care towards the divine through her actions and not just in her looks. At this point they were probably in their mid 20s-30s since they both still have their half of the sword, so they're still figuring out what sort of Justice they want to follow and embrace. Morgana doesn't fully reject this concept (though has negative feelings already due to their mother) until their father perishes in their battle against one another.
Fun note for Morgana. Her colour scheme here is gold and purple. But the helmet and sword are silver, which is Kayle's colour. Morgana removes the colours of Kayle and unleashes the power of purple. And in so doing turns the fight from a losing one to a winning one. She stops pretending to be Kayle and starts being Morgana. And they win because she self-actualises as herself.
Aw yeah, time for half an hour of Skyen rapid-firing narrative/cinematographic symbology at me 29:00 My personal take on why Wolf is more physical in this sequence (beyond it working better for the trailer) goes like so: Wolf represents how the more you try to escape death, the more powerful and terrifying it becomes. Normally Wolf is sleeker, faster, more ephemeral because people who fear death tend to frame that fear as a need to escape death, avoid it, and so death becomes a swift predator that can chase them down however fast they run. In Tryndamere's case there is no fear, he is simply fighting death directly with pure rage. And so death becomes a beast too powerful to defeat head-to-head, a giant of a Wolf, more physical and real than he'd normally be.
As for the Yasuo fight scene tho, even tho it's probably just for the censorship and stuff, it's also said and the creators of the short did as well, it's just that Yasuo was done with killing and didn't really wanted to use his power, as Wind always is by his side bringing death to others and bad stuff , he just didn't wanted to do it anymore, and when started fighting ge didn't kill anyone, he just knocked them out and Necrit pointed something cool that is that he didn't use the wind to take down the other guy, he used it to save him as the arrows would also hit him in the process
Isn't this a terrible scene if he isn't killing, though? If he doesn't kill those bandits, then they just get up again and continue to murder everyone in that village. If Yasuo kills no one in that scene, then it's just a flashy way to commit suicide.
@sebrussell With the fact that he could very well windwall that second volley of arrows but chooses not to, then yes. It is ultimately just a flashy suicide. That's the whole point. He's not been able to work through the pain of all the killing he's done, leaving him unable to ultimately defend himself and others.
@@sebrussell I mean Yasuo never was the brightest in decision making so... And he simply stopped them but not all of them, he was just tired, and fought a last time before just ending himself up but giving enough time for the woman (and probably others) to scape to safety in the process, he didn't pick up that fight with the idea of winning
@@sebrussell with the knowing eye shutting in the last arrow rain, followed by lamb's arrow (or the arrow representing lamb's arrow), i think we just see Yas look at his options....then accept that he can't fight this, and gives up. It would fit a character who: 1.had a long life. 2. Knew his limits and saw no way out. 3. Who simply felt it was time for him to go, now that the ones he currently fought coulden't fight for a time, and gave time to those fleeing...without having killed anyone.
I'm so happy that my unhealthy addiction to lol cinematic reactions let my find this, because I was waiting for Skyen to do ANYTHING about it way too much. Also I realised at some point of watching this that I had a lot of «Oh, Skyen would definetely say that about helmet/skin imperfections/makeup/armor» through all the times I looked at this cinematic before. I could just make a bingo of that stuff and it would be a 100% hit, and it just makes me happy =) And what also makes me happy is the ending, because I was kinda scared that's all we gonna get ngl =)
I was searching his channels every day for something, and today I finally found this extra extra channel, and turns out the video is 3 days old? Anyway, really happy we're getting an animation breakdown
A thing I really like about the Yasuo scene is when he steps past his windwall. I don't actually play league so I'm not sure if that is an ability he can do all the time or if it's is ultimate or whatever it is, so I might be off on how I interpret this, but it's still fun to think about. After creating that windwall is the perfect time to escape. The windwall would protect him from arrows and he could probably get away to fight another day. But then he steps beyond it's protection, makes the the decision to fight of as many of these people as he could. Making it clear that Yasuo was willing to give up his life the moment he stepped past it, knowing that he couldn't fight it all.
In case you're curious. The initial windwall is him showing us, the public, that he can do it. And then he conciously decides to embrace death. So the "lamb" kills those that accept death, Yasuo gets killed by an arrow. The implication is that Yasuo basically "wanted" to die.
Wind wall is one of his basic abilities, it deflects all projectiles(need to be projectile, like it will not block if attack of enemy is laser for example.
as someone who plays league, my allied yasuos always put down a windwall that would give them a free escape, and then run through it towards their deaths, so its perfectly normal to me. but yeah you are spot on with that analysis
I always thought he had to decide whether to use the wind wall or his "tornado", because I assumed he did not have time for both considering the arrows were flying very fast and he noticed that. As in "Do I save this man from the arrows or myself?" kind of deal, cuz he could not do both in the short amount of time. That´s just my interpretation tho. @@Londronable
About Kayle and the whole "becoming Justice" thing, in legends of runeterra they have made a card of their mother and she is depicted as a biblically accurate angel, so kayle losing the armor and becoming more of a classic angel is maybe in service to that notion of being as close to Mihira as possible. Also, the fact that the more human she is the more she wants to hide that fact and once she starts to "ascend" she begins to lose said need for the armor is an interesting dynamic to me.
You missed in the transition between Kayle and Morgana's bit and Yasuo's we see Kindred's silhouette because it actually ties to AATROX and the fact that he's denied death.
Aatrox and Kindred have such a great relationship. Aatrox wants to die and accept death so he’s a prisoner no longer so that would mean wolf wouldn’t go after him. And lamb can’t take him because he’s immortal.
I think the sword that Morganna puts down as she releases her powers represent what you mentioned with the helmets. That's also why we see Kayle picking it up, and almost becoming this celestial powerful being, after she clearly has disproved of Morganna putting down the sword and thus abandoning what they were supposed to be after their mother.
I actually really like what they did with Wolf here. In-game, it makes sense for him to be a floating spectral wisp since that means he's not taking up as much space. In an actual fight scene, however, I feel like giving him an actual wolf body lets the choreography have more weight and impact.
SO EXCITED FOR THIS CHANNEL! Thank you so much for always bringing amazing content to us as always Skyen. Just know we all appreciate your work whenever you have the time to do so-much love ❤
Justice is concept of human, and Only human participate it, in a sense the more justice is the more human ppl are, so i strongly disagree with TB about justice is faceless and humanless. Kayle ascend to be more "justice" is the act to become more "human".
I do agree with this but in-universe, a lot of the truer aspect forms are armored or faceless so I do also see where he's coming from. The truest forms of the aspects aren't human and are faceless and it would make sense for Kayle to embrace that.
@@peacepham7838 Justice is a very vague concept that is extremely dependent on perspective. On the Contrary humans by nature can sin, so your argument that human's participate in justice so humans = justice doesnt make sense when you can make the argument that humans can sin so humans = sin. Humans are both Sin and Justice (unless you are perfect but humans arent perfect). But Kayle wants to ONLY have Justice but we just stated that Humans Sin so by not being able to sin she is rejecting her humanity.
@@konvex69 "But Kayle wants to ONLY have Justice", yes and no, uphold Justice doesn't mean reject Sin. Justice is to punish Sin, without Sin there is no Justice, and i believe there is no paragraphs that said something like "Kayle reject Sin", but more of "Kayle embrace the absolute justice".
I mean, if kayle put the helmet on we wouldn't be able to see her face as she side-eye's morgana. Imo, that face says a lot more to an uneducated watcher than putting the helmet back on.
Been watching your content for quite a while, your eye for detail and ideas are always interesting. It's your blessing and your curse. Love the video, keep it up
Aha! I saw this on my feed earlier and decided to watch it later and when I went to your main channel I couldn't find it and got so confused! Glad I was able to get to it haha
For once the algorithm did something good and showed me you had another channel, also I do love just how much attention just that slight head tilt from lamb has gotten.the kindred were already my favorite champions but seeing them in the cinematic was just icing on the cake
With Ambessa Medarda being added and Yasuo being turned elderly, is this the season Riot finally realizes that old fighters are in fact really damn cool?
Somehow youtube decided to recommend me this 3 times on one page, which is pretty accurate, since you're one of my favourite content creators, across all your channels.
look forward to seeing someone react to content while also being well versed in so many aspects of its source from narrative story telling to visual techniques. Im going to watch the video now :)
I FINALLY FOUND YOU SKYEN I've been waiting for you to post anything about this cinematic since it was first released lol, thank you RUclips algorithm god.
Oh, I'm happy to know you have a reaction channel!! I love how high the quality of your videos is on the main channel, but I did miss your somewhat more candid (?) reactions/analyses from years past. Looking forward to keeping up with your stuff here as well, now!
I know you know a lot more about this than i do, but my perspective on the Kayle armor bit is that yes she WANTS to be the personification of Justice, but she isnt fully. she still has her human flaws and i think the reason they are allowing us to see her like this is to show her human side to us, in whatever capacity it exists in. like in the poem about the sisters there is a lot of emotion and nuance to both of the characters. again just my takeaway lol not trying to be annoying.
It's crazy to me that you are the first person to mention the change in tone/color that Ashe's arrows bring. I feel like I've watched a few dozen reactions and nobody saw that Tryndamere was basically leaving the shadow realm when Ashe shows up.
I totally agree that the women could show more life lived, but (and I know it’s personal) I don’t mind the make-up so much and find it disconcerting it’s always pointed out. For example, why do we have to assume makeup and face structure and skin quality is same as 2024 real world? People in LoL could have month long foundation or simply higher natural skin quality. These aspects allow a wider audience and overall personal satisfaction compared to constantly seeing it as incorrect. That said looking forward to a “The call” style frame by frame animation breakdown with all the other info that comes after the first look.
And just for one note, that “Makeup” focus did miss the Morgana canonical scarring. As far as I prefer, makeup just not be a thing in LoL, people just look like they present right out of bed, fuck that axis of realism.
@@Merilirem don’t forget that Ashe’s whole story boils down to an “Anti war teenager forced to lead 1/3 of the Freljord.” You can’t always have consistent body structure if forced into leadership, and I could see a scene in an Arcane type show where she actually dons war paint to she they mean business. But most of the time she doesn’t as she’s anti war.
I think you're actually wrong about Kayle in terms the depersonalization thing. I mean objectively you're correct about it in terms of design and what Kayle wants... But design wise I think it's brilliant... because Kayle for all that she WANTS to be depersonalized, to remove herself from humanity... the more she embraces the INHUMAN power... the more Human she becomes. The more that she CANNOT ESCAPE becoming more and more human. Frankly it tells a story.
Yay! So glad there is another channel. I can not watch enough content of yours! 😊 I also would have liked to have some dirt on ashe. She can be pretty, fine but at lest make it look like she engaged in the battle around her.
One thing about the Yasuo scene. The reason why there was no blood shown was because there was no blood spilled. At this point in his life we can see that he as renounced his killing ways and the wind itself, hence why he was using a staff and until the end he staggered at the thought of picking up a blade again. Then, he finally uses wind again but not to kill, you can see him coating the sword in wind so as not to kill, only to incapacitate. Also, the HASAGI he throws at the end is meant to push the dude away from the rain of arrows so that he doesn't die from them.
They weren’t showing blood in the Yasuo scene because he was making the choice not to kill them. That’s what that close up of the up-slash under the one guys armpit was supposed to show us, it’s that he was using the wind to attack them and that he no longer wants to slaughter everyone.
I'm still hyped about how good tryndamere fighting kindred scene was, it become my favorite in all cinematics, it has so many implications, little dytales and interactions, and such amazing choreography aaaa I really love it, waiting paciencly for the breakdown animation video! Glad you upload a reaction, it was really interesting to see
I'd love to see Skyen's reaction on Necrit's videos about this cinematic for we get more context about some things that could change (or justify) some interpretations about a few things
If you like the way Skyen reacts to videos theres all ready a guy that's done a breakdown of the video in his style. ruclips.net/video/MFouSkc6rY0/видео.htmlsi=RApMSXHUk1ng8YRs I'd also be interested in seeing what Skyen things of what that guys says too.
Interesting points that should be mentioned, Kindred showing up in the flames attacking Aatrox since he's another character that doesn't die, Yasuo symbolically stepping out of the safety of his wind wall accepting death honorably.
Found the channel! Just if it's interesting saw the notification on discord, did a quick look for Skyen and TbSkyen channels and found nothing, and now a couple hours after that search listening to some music I got this video in my homepage.
I feel that morgana chose to remove her helmet to become more human but ended up looking dark and evil, thus less human. While Kayles divinity forces her to appear more human by making her not able to wear the armor she wants to appear less human. Like, they both took the wrong turns in their goal to become more or less human.
Most people think tryndamere looked at ashe like that is because of his love for her... but actually he was just wondering how much time Ashe took for her makeup 😔
Lamb: calmly circling, aligning a shot. He may be fighting her, but she is just waiting for Tryndamere to stop throwing a tantrum and accept her gift. Wolf: GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME.
I do agree with a lot of what you have to say about how Ashe's character design is too perfect, but I think there is a lot of symbolism with Morgana and Kayle. Morgana chooses imperfection, she chooses to remove the helmet and embrace mortality. Kayle gets her helmet forcefully knocked off of her head, and while I do agree that putting the helmet back on would have been a great moment to symbolize that split between them, I think it also gives that sense that the perfection that she is attempting to achieve is unattainable. She is in a way still human, and no matter how much she embraces the divine, she will never be that ideal that she strives for. Plus that side eye that she gives Morgana just conveys all of the distaste that she has for mortality and the choice that Morgana made, and I don't think that the expression would have been as clear had she still had the helmet on. I think instead, they could have included a little shot where Kayle could wipe off some imperfection from her face to show how she cannot stand the stain of mortality where Morgana's mascara is running down her face. The whole fight between Kindred and Tryndamere though gives me chills. I think it is such a cool concept that he would be fighting Kindred every time he ulties.
I actually think Yasuo intentionally did not draw blood. There are a few close ups where the sword doesn't hit the person but the wind does. I also think he wasn't taking the last guy out but sending him out of the way of the arrows. I think he was protecting even the bad guys.
I'm a sucker for characters visually emerging out of one another to convey a mood, so Kindred fading away as Ashe literally runs through where she was owned
necrit had a good take on the wind on yasuos sword, where instead of wanting to kill the people attacking him he wanted to knock them down. Which would explain why he blew the other man away before the arrow rain, and also why he seemed so upset before attacking them.
when it comes to the scene with yasuo, he is not really ''slashing them down'', he is just disarming/knocking them down, which is exactly why there is no blood visible. it has nothing to do with the censorship, it is simply a future in which he is done with killing and shedding blood, and has decided not to use his wind technique, as we can see him refusing to do so in the beginning of the fight. he only used it in the end because he realized that he will be defeated unless he uses it, which will allow the people he is fighting to kill the people he is trying to protect in this scene. i would recommend watching necrit's video where he talks about this cinematic for more details as he delves into it deeper, but i wanted to briefly clarify it regardless edit: also, the last decision he made was not between protectin ghimself or taking the guy down, he couldve easily done both if he wanted to since he can use his wind wall - the decision that he made instead was protecting the guy from the arrows by knocking him away, and finally meeting his end without shielding himself
found the channel on this video if it helps your test! about the yasuo bit, i've seen a vid where they theorized this whole scene is him avoiding killing people, and for once in his life uses the wind to save people instead of kill them. he soften the hits with a layer of wind, and then pushes away the last guy from the falling arrows, choosing that guy's life over his own before accepting his demise. i like that theory
Yasuo was purposefully not killing anyone, he was just using the sword to channel the wind tehnique to knock them out, and he also used the tornado to push the mob boss out of the arrow wave so he won't get hit, similar to how shanks uses his sword to channel his haki
Sniffed ya out Skyen! Not really, RUclips recommmended this channel. But I do love reaction stuff and I do love your content so, a match made in heaven!
I feel like Skyen is to suck on the Kayle not wearing armor thing. When she acends thing. She doesn't just want to be a human, she wants to be a god and gods don't hide thier faces behind helmets. She wants everyone to see her celectial power and she does this by liturally glowing with power
Watched it before this video as advised and I really enjoyed it. Def agree with the Kayle armor bit, if Morgana symbolizing her humanity taking off the helmet, Kalye could have a big moment putting back on the helmet to symbolize her falling in line.
In Yasuo's part he wasn't killing them, thats why he didn't have a sword in the first place, he doesn't want to kill anymore, thats why he pushes them with wind instead of slicing them with the sword.
@@3BSkyen lockey might have be an animation mistake but Yasuo isn't killing anybody his trying to avoid bloodshed, right at the end a swell he notice the arrows coming down then he decides to use the tornado move on that guy to save his life. thats just my guess
While I agree that Yasuo didn't want to kill anymore (hence his sword is gone when he first appears), there are several moments where it looks like Yasuo cuts through vital parts of the bandits' bodies, in a manner similar to a samurai with a katana in various media. I'm convinced he at least wounded them, at most killed them, while he chased down the leader. The lack of gore is a censorship thing.
More to the point, two handed hitting someone over the head with a staff hard enough to break it in half is not a nonlethal hit. That’s a severe concussion at the very least, potentially a CTE in the making.
Interesting! I didn't make the connection between the Wings and the Waves with the bandit mask. I would assume a fox mask would make more sense since it's how the Kindred is worshipped in Ionia iirc, but a raven mask would be more associated to the theme of death than a fox
@@Goomsies that is also true
That make much sense. Good interpretation
@@rosevalety3408 Indeed, they shoulda broken her helmet if they wanted her to keep it off. Would be funny to see her pick Kayles up though lol.
Thats kinda pointless . IF thats The case then she NEVERS shoots many arrows , since The firts one Will end her prey .
Thats Just how she fights
Its harder to show a disdainful glance without having access to eyebrows etc. than it is Kindred's intrigue or those thugs laughing at yasuo.
yeah and the thing is, kayle's helmet fell while morg took it off willingly
@@Ulvorskets She had the chance to put it back on though. We didn't see it close enough to see damage.

@@booms3545 I was talking about Overwatch but there are THREE of them now?!
Top much interpretation
For Lamb to do anything would require someone to accept death.
not really, that's exactly what happened @@Exel3nce
I love that Lamb's head tilt is what prompted Skyen to do a full animation breakdown.
I think Yasuo short was not doing a censorship thing but he was actually just using sword as a "bat", hitting them, not to kill them.
He was deliberately not killing them, that's his lore stuff.
Watch Necrit’s video for the in-depth explanation, but here’s the gist:
The scene shows a future Yasuo who has completely rejected using the wind technique since all it’s done for him is take the lives of others and ruin his own.
Looks like we're gonna get a no from Skye on that hahahaha
@@xavierburval4128 necrit did made shit up again it seems lmao
Aw yeah, time for half an hour of Skyen rapid-firing narrative/cinematographic symbology at me
29:00 My personal take on why Wolf is more physical in this sequence (beyond it working better for the trailer) goes like so: Wolf represents how the more you try to escape death, the more powerful and terrifying it becomes.
Ashe: literally wearing the Avarosan crest on her forehead.
TBSkyen: "I have a problem with make-up."

Always nice to come across another person with excellent taste in profile pictures.
I just love that Tryndameres fight shows him to be to angry to die and in his rage trying to kill death.
He could always become a wisp if he wanted to chase someone down too. His shape isn't important after all.
SO EXCITED FOR THIS CHANNEL! Thank you so much for always bringing amazing content to us as always Skyen. Just know we all appreciate your work whenever you have the time to do so-much love ❤
I get what you are saying about Kayle but i like to think the more powerful/godlike she becomes the less she needs to try to appear human
Totally, like there is a point where she reaches a beyond human status so she doesn't need to hide her humanity.
Imagine if they recreate the Tryndamere/kindred fight live at Worlds and Wolf is played by a team of lion dancers. Would that not be amazing?
I mean, if kayle put the helmet on we wouldn't be able to see her face as she side-eye's morgana. Imo, that face says a lot more to an uneducated watcher than putting the helmet back on.

I am so happy I got to find this video and see a RUclipsr I love and get to support him early
It's crazy to me that you are the first person to mention the change in tone/color that Ashe's arrows bring. I feel like I've watched a few dozen reactions and nobody saw that Tryndamere was basically leaving the shadow realm when Ashe shows up.
You can literally see the background change as the arrows pass Kindred
its just too obivious to call out for most people
I totally agree that the women could show more life lived, but (and I know it’s personal) I don’t mind the make-up so much and find it disconcerting it’s always pointed out.
Ashe would just look better with some war paint or something. If anything she needs MORE "make up" than the pretty stuff she's got.
@@Merilirem don’t forget that Ashe’s whole story boils down to an “Anti war teenager forced to lead 1/3 of the Freljord.”
You can’t always have consistent body structure if forced into leadership, and I could see a scene in an Arcane type show where she actually dons war paint to she they mean business.

I also would have liked to have some dirt on ashe.
My god the reaction video is HERE, i’ve been refreshing your other 2 channels for days now

I'm so happy for the algorithm now I was looking forward to it and confused because I didn't see this 6 days ago on your lives channel...
Wow idk how I found this
They weren’t showing blood in the Yasuo scene because he was making the choice not to kill them. That’s what that close up of the up-slash under the one guys armpit was supposed to show us, it’s that he was using the wind to attack them and that he no longer wants to slaughter everyone.
I was hoping he would make a video reacting to the cinematic. Nice
I'm still hyped about how good tryndamere fighting kindred scene was, it become my favorite in all cinematics, it has so many implications, little dytales and interactions, and such amazing choreography aaaa I really love it, waiting paciencly for the breakdown animation video! Glad you upload a reaction, it was really interesting to see
I also loved that scene, it was so poetic.
The algorithm wave just caught you, Skyen. Time to raise your sails. Love your work as always!
"Now lets talk about animating on 2's and 3's"
I think Kaylie’s helmet works because it was knocked off, and the clarity of the look she gives Morgana was important.
Ive been watching all the cinematic reactions so i suppose i am not suprised i found this.
Thank you algorithm deity for bringing this to me, will sweeten my evening
Most people think tryndamere looked at ashe like that is because of his love for her... but actually he was just wondering how much time Ashe took for her makeup 😔
Yasuo was intentionally not killing the raiders. He even saves the leader by pushing him out of the path of the arrows.
I was really looking for your reaction, but i couldn't find it lol
Lamb: calmly circling, aligning a shot. He may be fighting her, but she is just waiting for Tryndamere to stop throwing a tantrum and accept her gift.
Wolf: GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME.
Holy shit you made a fourth channel? Honestly good for you
it took me 3 days to find this , it was worth it
I do agree with a lot of what you have to say about how Ashe's character design is too perfect, but I think there is a lot of symbolism with Morgana and Kayle.
How do you think they could have delivered the side eye from Kayle if she had her helmet on??
He just likes critiquing everything lmao.
found this through a typo when looking for the second channel :D
I actually think Yasuo intentionally did not draw blood. There are a few close ups where the sword doesn't hit the person but the wind does.
I also think he wasn't taking the last guy out but sending him out of the way of the arrows. I think he was protecting even the bad guys.
Yeah I like that theory a lot because there was no need to toss that tornado at the guy at the end
I'm a sucker for characters visually emerging out of one another to convey a mood, so Kindred fading away as Ashe literally runs through where she was owned
I'm amazed I found this channel.
Well the algorithm found this video now. Good job algorithm I guess. Much love, always happy to see you doing something you like.
Found him Pog
Also skyen says he's going to pause a lot. "Proceeds to only pause once"
necrit had a good take on the wind on yasuos sword, where instead of wanting to kill the people attacking him he wanted to knock them down. Which would explain why he blew the other man away before the arrow rain, and also why he seemed so upset before attacking them.
recommended to me by youtube 4 days after this video is up
Thank you algorithm 🤲
when it comes to the scene with yasuo, he is not really ''slashing them down'', he is just disarming/knocking them down, which is exactly why there is no blood visible. it has nothing to do with the censorship, it is simply a future in which he is done with killing and shedding blood, and has decided not to use his wind technique, as we can see him refusing to do so in the beginning of the fight. he only used it in the end because he realized that he will be defeated unless he uses it, which will allow the people he is fighting to kill the people he is trying to protect in this scene. i would recommend watching necrit's video where he talks about this cinematic for more details as he delves into it deeper, but i wanted to briefly clarify it regardless
edit: also, the last decision he made was not between protectin ghimself or taking the guy down, he couldve easily done both if he wanted to since he can use his wind wall - the decision that he made instead was protecting the guy from the arrows by knocking him away, and finally meeting his end without shielding himself
thank you tbskyen shorts community post for letting me know that 3bskyen exists.
the algorithm did not fail me
took 3 days for youtube to recommend this to me! can you believe Yasuo went to the beach that makes you old?
finally i waited your reaction more than anybody
found the channel on this video if it helps your test!
about the yasuo bit, i've seen a vid where they theorized this whole scene is him avoiding killing people, and for once in his life uses the wind to save people instead of kill them.
he soften the hits with a layer of wind, and then pushes away the last guy from the falling arrows, choosing that guy's life over his own before accepting his demise.
i like that theory
3 rant in 1...
man I get it but this isn't what I hoped to hear for this awesome cinematic
Yasuo was purposefully not killing anyone, he was just using the sword to channel the wind tehnique to knock them out, and he also used the tornado to push the mob boss out of the arrow wave so he won't get hit, similar to how shanks uses his sword to channel his haki
Sniffed ya out Skyen!
Not really, RUclips recommmended this channel. But I do love reaction stuff and I do love your content so, a match made in heaven!
The lack of blood on Yasuo's part seems to be intentional. Like he doesn't want to kill these ppl. Just disarm and knock them out.
saw the description, found it and recognized your voice
I feel like Skyen is to suck on the Kayle not wearing armor thing. When she acends thing. She doesn't just want to be a human, she wants to be a god and gods don't hide thier faces behind helmets. She wants everyone to see her celectial power and she does this by liturally glowing with power
why am i now finding this lol
My algorithm has served me so well today 🥰
Oh, hi, RUclips algoritm is helpful for once. Good luck on your new channel!
His sword literally passes through a guy's entire midriff.
@@3BSkyen lockey might have be an animation mistake but Yasuo isn't killing anybody his trying to avoid bloodshed, right at the end a swell he notice the arrows coming down then he decides to use the tornado move on that guy to save his life. thats just my guess
@@3BSkyen He also doubletaps one of them.
He’s gonna be so excited when he sees Necrit’s video where Yasuo just isn’t killing people.
