Honestly in the case of Viego, his design is great and actually really creative if you understand the archetype that he is. There are so many lich tragic ruined king stories. Instead we have a pathetic little man who believes he is the greatest man in the world, an overgrown child who believes to be a Prince Charming, a tragic ruined story of a man created by an unfair system brought up by a kingdom doomed to fall. Someone who should NOT have as much power and appeal but who HAS and that fact is terrifying. I really love my boy. Also a detail, his sword is used without mastery. It reads as someone who uses a sword for its meaning and power, but instead of using it with artistry and technique they use it like a child playing with a stick.
@@bubaelbubiel3984 you are not wrong, it is not that Viego being Nomurian is bad. Is that having a Nomurian villain in an otherwise "gritty" region feels out of place. I could see a Viego-like villain in Noxus quite well(in fact i heard theories that maybe Vladimir and Viego are related), in the Shadow Isles, not so much.
@@noukan42 I completely agree with you on that, I really wish Shadow Isles' "Final Boss" was something mesmerizing and otherworldly. The other thing Im afraid of is the land where Viego comes from. We have only 2 characters representing Camavor, and they're one of the most anime/gacha characters in league history. I don't mind anime skins etc. but I feel bad for lol artists and writers forced to disrupt the cultural integrity of Runeterra
Viego describe as weak and pethetic king that can't rule and easy to manipulate so making him a skinny guy without bulking armor make sense could you imagine his design resemble the looks of mordekaiser
It's kind of funny that he still wants her after she *literally tore his heart out.* Though I guess if he actually remembered that Isolde killed him, the Ruinations would never stop.
That way of explaining how viego sees himself Is genius, i never really thought about his own point of view of his own actions and he seeing himself as a hero
It's the point of ruling classes, they see themselves as saviors, Hitler himself viewed himself that way as the savior of Germany. Usually people in power tend to falsify reality and hence the vision of themselves, you get a large amount of example: "this war is just", "we're saving the country from a threat", "there are weapons of mass destruction". They lie to others to hide their true goals, and in the end wraped in their own world believe the lies they told to justify their action. Look at Joe Biden, he voted for the Irak war and said he would do it again. He probably won't present any excuse for the hundred of thousands that died, and probably will never care. But even if you don't look at historical examples, this is what a french youtuber call the Magneto syndrome, the aim is good in principle, like for Magneto or Thanos, but the means and the lies they tell themselves to go through their action just serve themselves to excuse their violence and path of death. This is why the best villains are never "pure evil" type of villain, they're people that twist reality to their own advantage, Viego is suffering, yet "he wants to save Isolde", or so he says, whereas in reality he just want his suffering to end and go back to where he was before he doesn't care about Isolde, he cares about how he felt when he was with her which is not the same.
Everyone being horny about how Skyen describes Viego's toxic hotness have both completely missed the point of that segment and very much so got the point of that segment.
Exactly. I hate that trope (the toxic, abusive, obsessive love interest), but his ASMR reading still got my panties in a twist. What I love about Viego, though, is that he’s PORTRAYED as the absolute psychotic asshole he is. He’s not Edward Cullen or Christian Gray, where that obsession is painted as a good thing. He is so toxic he literally destroys everything he touches, and Isolde explicitly wants nothing to do with him anymore. He’s hot, but that in no way excuses his behavior, and the narrative reflects that. I find that a refreshing change.

Before Viego was shown, I always thought he was a king gone mad because of grief over the death of his beloved, but now he is a king gone mad because he lost the object of his obsession
One thing I like about the tension in Viego's various stances is that yes it communicates hostility but it's also... defensive? Guarded? He's not just goal-oriented, he also comes across as constantly expecting and ready to react to an attack from any quarter, his resentment at the world for taking and keeping his beloved from his coalescing into a perpetual and reflexive readiness to strike back at a world he expects to hurt him further. Oh, and 💀
Maybe they could have made the triangle at his heart an actual nasty gaping hole that came out all the way thru the back. And when u look into that hole, it looks like it goes on for ever. That could add a nice creepiness to him that contrasts nicely with the rest of him. Also he could have like a mist cape.
I like the idea of him being similarr to Fos from fore emblem where only select few parts are decade and held together by the mist, or at the very least he should've been the mosr twisted and tangled person of the mist
@@xidjav1836 feel like you're right about this, i felt like he should've looked kind of like xerath/mordekaiser, parts held together by a sort of energy.
@@trickjump19 well for me i would differentiate by him having a constant flow of the mist from his ribcage if they want to go full emo then it should be his blackend heart devoid of life and colour maybe his face is peeling away held only by the mist. In short incorporate the mist more i to his design since he is the originator of the mist he could easily be immune to its symptoms
I like the mist cape, but I think his “fleshiness” is actually great. It contrasts with the ghostly aesthetic of the rest of the Shadow Isles, and tells you that he’s different. He’s not dead, not completely. He was stabbed by the sword meant to keep him alive, while standing in the Waters of Life. He’s trapped between life and death, in a cycle of torment and obsession, so making him look truly undead wouldn’t work.
I like the usage of Evelynn's theme at 7:33 while talking about how Viego "sees you". It really adds that extra layer of dangerous desire that you are trying to portray.
@@Ajehy now I’m curious, would Evelynn take the form of Isolde if she sees Viego? She’s a shape shifting sex demon and it’s canon she becomes what the victim wants the most right? That would be Isolde to viego. And since viego “loves” her so much he has a helluva lot of pain to give eve if she does the orgasm switcheroo thing and reveal she’s actually a demon and not his wife then murder him.
I think the story also fits another thing. Stories like beauty and the beast were made because in those societies, women rarely got a choice in who they married. Because of this, men didnt have to act right or respect their partners, and therefore lots of men tended to be extremely abusive. So from a very young age the idea of "you can fix him" was hammered into the minds of girls and women. You can fix him, you can make a prince out of the beast, over and over and those women really couldn't, but that idea kept most of them from "attempting unalive" (I don't know if I can say that). I think that's a really cool thing, it pulls from history and you see get to see the horrible truth hiden behind those fantasies. Even today the idea that you can make an abusive partner better can cause problems, so I think it's cool that they made him like that
You know you could make a "toxic boyfriend tells you you're his entire world" asmr-esque video, and it would be another bomb. You have the power. Now decide 🤐
I would love to see that, but I doubt he will do it. There have been people acting weird in the past and this would just give them an incentive to act weird again.
I like that Riot is portraying Viego and his relationship with Isolde as being abussive, one-sided, and more based on control than love. It is way more interesting than it just being a tragic love story. Isolde wouldn't dare so no, and when she finally was free from him he destroyed an entire sacred isle to bring her back. It is so interesting that they really decided to make Viego kind of pathetic when alive and terrifyingly obsessive when dead. I think they absolutely nailed Viego, it is an amazing release IMO!
I honestly don't mind his visual design, I think it fits the idea they were going for a lot better, Viego was young, selfish, vain, and a horrible kindg. The fact that he looks like such pampered prince and in a brooding way really fits is pathetic hopless romantic vibe they are going for to me. If he was more monstrous I would have a hard time seeing that and if he looked more royal it would give a more sophisticated kingly look and Viego is anything but kingly.
I think people just still have that preconception we are forcefed in childhood that attractive people are automatically good and worthy of trust while unattractive people aren’t, when the opposite is often the case. Viego is the suburban husband abusing his wife behind the curtains, Viego is the frat boy who gets a slap on the wrist by the justice system after being accused of several sexual misdemeanors, Viego is the boss who “lays off” his female staff after they return from maternity leave, Viego is the politician sponsored by gun production companies who gets away with tax fraud. I personally applaud Riot for designing an attractive villain and portraying his actions pretty unambiguously as villainous.
She might have loved him but also, I suspect, to large degree was terrified of him. He’s unstable, obsessive and holds absolute power over her. Unlike a noblewoman, she didn’t even have any sort of political backing of her own to stand up to him. Overall, I see serious abusive partner vibes but in a way more insidious manner. Just like you said around 8:30 it’s a type of madness that pulls you in and *makes you feel responsible for it.*
“Depressive Demon Nightmare Boy 💀” isn’t my “type” either, but I am pretty glad Riot decided to go that route with the Ruined King instead of making, like, Mordekaiser 3.0 or something. I can’t wait for the Runied King game. I want this twunk obliterated.
My guess: Isolde DID love him at first and was happy in their relationship as I guess that the outside didn't know of what a failure their second prince was. But as she lived with him, she saw more and more what Viego really was, abondoning his duty, dooming his country and trying to permanently "buy" Osolde with gifts as to secure her staying with him. While she might have truly loved him, she soon realized that his love was purely obsessive, not romantic. Realizing her situation, she fled into her craft and stayed shut in, sewing all day. That in returned only fired up Viegos possession problem, trying more and more to have Isolde in his hands. Gwen was present as a puppet and saw all his obsession and anger towards Isolde growing more distant the more Viego tried to appeal to her, reflected in her voiceline "When I was a pupped, I wanted to fight" and "She hasn't forgotten you. I haven't forgiven you" Then Isolde got poisoned, maybe by accident maybe she begged for an intruder to stab her in an attemt to escape him, we only know the story Viego knows. Viego then brought her and the Gwen-Doll to the blessed isles in an attemt to save her, bringing her dearest possessions along. But as he revived Isolde, the pain of resurrection and conflicting emotions towards her husband made Isolde stab him. The clashing magic of sword and blessed water made her soul break into pieces shortly afterwards that then searched for save spaces and one piece went to her favourite doll, Gwen, while the other flew to partly unknown places. At that time, the ships of his army sunk by the explosion of the black mist, as we see in puppet Gwen sinking in water in her teaser. The part left behind of Isolde was the lady of the mist, an accumulation of Isoldes raw anger and unreasonable, emotional part while the concious parts got spread over runeterra. Gwen can't sense Isolde btw as in Senna voiceline "You mist is neither good nor bad" and also doesn't know about what happened to Isolde as she was on the ship while the ruination went down, again reflected in her voicelines "Wherever she is, I hope she is happy"
@@ekkehard8 Because Viego is an obsessive, heartless scumbag that doomed an entire nation for his selfish desires- that isn't really a basic character for a happy love story. And what do you mean with "logical conclusion"? Would be happy to answer but I don't really get what u mean
@@kunibertrandolf1886 They say it *can't* end well. I'm puzzled because I only see it as very likely to end poorly. By my understanding this would be the case something comes between them or they fall put of love, which is common. But I still think they can possibly indulge in both the fantasy of being obsessively loved and obsessively loving long term; they could even change this volatile behavior in the future. How are people so certain this is not a possibility? Edit: And thank you for answering the first question, it was succinct. What I understood is that people don't root for him because he is a bad person.
@@ekkehard8 Well of course we don't know how it goes yet but the hints so far overwhelmingly hint to their love not ending mutual, even questioning if it was mutual to begin with. Viegos story tells a story of "love at first sight" with everything being perfect without mentioning Isoldes side a single time. No she was happy, no she loved it, nothing. The narrator seems to be edged towards Viegos pov and while pointing him out to be selfish, he never looks at any other side to it. We know the kingdom fell but never do we read "and they hated him for it" or get any emotion from anyone. It passively draws the picture of a nihilistic person simply lacking the understanding of other peoples emotions, thus nothing but HIS feelings are mentioned in his bio. It just hints towards him and conclusively the story completely misinterpreting their love. Next, the very sane and concious part of Isolde that inherited Senna constantly warned them about the mist and Viego coming to search her. She seems to be sane and reasonable and actively tried to get away from Viego, crying out as she was ripped from Senna. I think that this confirmes their current relationship of viego being a manic nutcase, wanting to obtain Isolde for his personal gain(obviously), rather than getting a mutual lover back for the best of both. And while we do not know about their "early" love, is just seems natural that a hard working peasant, suddenly pulled into the castle to watch the kingdom and inevitably their family perishing from the balcony would NOT be on the side of her husband.
Some of Viego's quotes say the possibility that Isolde is, in fact, the Maiden from Yorick's ultimate ability. If this is true, is interesting for the fact that, even if he kills Yorick and take his body, and still can't summon the Maiden.
My art brain: Viego the ruined king is a bland hot boy design and they could have done so much more with the concept if they just tried. My other art brain part: Hehe hot villain goes brrrrrrr
Srsly tho, when I was reading the lore or when I'm in game and I hear "The Ruined King" or "The Blade of The Ruined King", I imagined a towering pack of meat, wounded by the past, wielding a sword so powerful that it cursed an entire island, or a tall old man with his flesh withering away, and his royalty falling apart, but he couldn't die yet. That old man had one job left to do, and that is to find his dead wife. But the riot gives us an emo boi that looks like Bury The Light from DMC5 will be his theme song
@@kaizu8326 I imagined a decrepit black knight, skeletal underneath the suit or something. The other idea my brain also had was this shadow encased undead prince/king that is barely held together by the shadows and his obsession
@@kaizu8326 Oh! Another thing they could have done They could have designed him to look like a typical hero, but just a bit off. To match how Viego sees himself To bring his ego to the forefront but then have the heroic look contrast and clash with his actions.
Ngl, Viego's idle animation, with the tension and the posture and the way his chest sort of heaves as opposed to the more understated rise and fall of someone whose breathing is relaxed, kinda looks like he's gonna burst into tears at any second.
Just fcking give her buttons as eyes, or maybe turn her skin into fabric. Her silhouette is already good, her main body being all fluffy and circly and soft, which gives her the nice and kind person vibes that she got from Isolde's soul, contrasted with that massive snippy snip scissors. Like jeez riot, her design doesn't read "oh I'm a doll that was brought life by the soul of my creator", instead she looks like "awww anon that was so cute. You wouldn't mind if tie you up and peg you with my scissors, right?"
Yeah I agree Gwen should look a little more doll like, but I can also kinda see where riot is going when they say that doing stuff like giving her buttons for eyes would make let look a little like orianna? But still that’s no excuse, they could still add stuff like add more stitches to her face, making it more raggedy-ann and less pretty girl

Okay, the whole "why is Viego hot?" section gave me goosebumps and made me...feel things not gonna lie, definitely made me look at Viego differently. And it's that same concept the reason I like crazy girls/yanderes, definitely not something I want in reality but just as a fantasy...yeah there's something I just can't deny about it I hadn't thought about modernity clashing with fantasy until now but I definitely see what you mean and the dissonance it'd cause in people. Personally I've never really minded it especially since I think he looks really cool and his armor in the fog is awesome though. And also it's true that while I like appeal and good looking characters and don't mind it at all, I really believe that of all the games League is the one that needs it the absolute LEAST, the game is already huge. I think more than anyone else they can make more out-there and unorthodox ideas
This guy always reminds me of Erik XIV of Sweden, sometimes called "the mad king" who defied his court by marrying a commoner and ended up being deposed by his brother. Also it is said that he was really hot.
Yeah Erik XIV was also kinda paranoid and ended up killing quite a few nobles of prominent families, because the stars said they were conspiring against him. Now its very possible that they were actually conspiring against him, he wasnt all that liked as you said, but the stars most likely played no role in that lol
The power dynamic between Isolde and Viego is a huge red flag. The myths of the gods (or goddesses) as well as the stories of kings having some interest in a person of lower position... It's terrifying...
Eros and Pshyce would be the closest kind to not fucked. But I'd rather see them actually love and care for one another, yeah he maybe overly focused on his wife but at least he does the minimum required from a king at the very least. But then something broke them, the slow death of Isolde, the grief quickly consumed him in a desperate panic he was easilly manipulated by his general that he's suspicous of. And when Isolde finally got revived, her confusing and wrath from him taking her peacful end. Keep in mind that this is my headcanon, I basically wanted to see Viego oggling Isolde but gives enough fucks gor his country to at least rile with the minimum required of him
oh yeah, the rape culture in Greek mythology......I can't believe I just said rape culture....but its not really wrong. Have you seen how many "lovers" didn't want anything to do with gods? Much less the sex? The list is very long. Eros and Psique is the tamest of all stories, heck Hades and Persephone is another!
@@garreonlefay6703 - It doesn’t help that, in Ancient Greek art, the visual symbolism for “marriage” was literally the same as for “kidnapping”. Look at vase paintings. And yeah, it’s fucked up that Hades gets all the rap for following Zeus’s advice in kidnapping Persephone (and then being a loyal husband), while Zeus is lauded for far worse behavior. Yes, Zeus was a god of masculine fertility in an age where women didn’t matter, but the fact that Disney shows him as a good divine dad and Hades as Satan 2.0 is just WRONG.
@@Ajehy it is heartwarming to see how much Red and Blue from OSP teach. You are forgetting something though. Zeus was Persephone's father and he gave the ok for the kidnapping...heck he was the one that gave Hades the idea. The only person that gave Hades a fair shake is, ironically seeing as OSP was mentioned, Rick Riordan. In the books Hades is an overworked deity who is swamped in work up, down, left, right, front, back and center. He doesnt really care about the politics happening in Olympus and he is the only God that kept the Oath....partially because he was still grieving the death, via thunderbolt, of his human lover, Maria Di Angelo. Another fun Fact, he is the least unfaithful God and only looks for a lover, when he can't stand the loneliness of his realm after Persephone goes to her mother....and even then it's a lot of time before that happens.... I won't get into the dumpster fire that were the movie adaptations....because, once again Hades is defined as simply an antagonist and only wants the damm bolt instead of recovering his Helm
I am always reminded of Yahtzee's Shadow of the Colossus review whenever I think of Viego. To quote: "This is what they call true love apparently, something I've always felt is virtually indistinguishable from brain damage." Honestly I like Viego as a different take on a leader character for League, specifically one who is incompetent, completely bonkers, and utterly lacking in moral complexity or merit as a ruler. Who do we already have? Mordekaiser: Terrifying ancient warlord that the world fears the return of. Swain: A Machiavellian mastermind who holds the future of his nation in the highest regard and is effectively what happens if you cross Gul'Dan and Tywin Lannister. Karma: A spiritual leader with centuries of wisdom by nature of being a gestalt being. Azir: Someone who also was never intended to take the throne but proved to be an excellent leader (if a bit too dedicated to waiting for a big surprising gesture). Jarvan IV: Umm... Well I'm sure he'll pull his head out of his arse at some point. At least some percentage of Demacia likes him. Probably. And the list goes on. A love stuck madman/ idiot who acts as the center of a maelstrom of undeath and horror is rather interesting. I do think his overall design is a bit too modern for my tastes though. Good thing he's dead cause those pants would absolutely cut off circulation to his legs every time he sat down.
I'm honestly rather disappointed in Viego being *The Ruined King*. I don't know what I expected, to be entirely honest, which has led me to the conclusion that the act of actually explaining the Shadow Isles beyond myth and legend was a mistake. At the very least, for a character that should be incredibly powerful and imposing, I don't think he necessarily has a place outside of a single-player game (where he can be appropriately characterized within the context of the game itself). 💀
I don't think it is necessarily impossible. In DOTA invoker is supposed to be incredibly powerful, and this is conveyed trough the fact that he is indeed overpowered, but is gated by requiring an absurd amount of skill, both mechanically and tactically, to be used to it's full potential. Basically the way to do that is to allow them to be as overpowered as their lore describe them, but gating such power to some limitation, such has by making them very challenging to play or giving them their full power only late in the game. In MtG terms, they should be "Timmy" champions.
☠️ Damn I just hope when Isolde finally drops presumably at the end of the year she's somewhat closer to that runeterra card art that was leaked ago where she's sitting on a giant amalgamation of wraiths. That would look rad as hell.
I love how some people found how he describes Viego attractive mean while I find it creepy and it just makes me feel extremely uncomfortable. Although the fact that I'm aroace probably has something to do with that. :D
Ahhhhh, so that's why I like him. I'll be honest here, if he was a female, his obsession would be seen as "smexy" instead of "Ew no unforgivable emo toxic trashbag"

"A skull emoji" Damnit, this joke was already made by an early viewer. Well still, great video. Excited for more Bloodborne stuff, although I've been enjoying the League content a ton.
I honestly would like to believe that Isolde's feelings towards Viego are love and affection, perhaps in a slightly maternal sort of way. Viego does a wonderful job of being both trope-y and not so trope-y, and it's easy to see that the relationship from Viego's point of view (even if it's third person narration) is perfect and wonderful. But another trope that's been very played out is the "rich person abusing poor person and poor person just deals with it out of fear." I'd like to see their relationship be a true, honest romance that defies class and stature. Rather than it be a case of "Viego only loves himself" it could be a more complex dynamic of Viego truly loving Isolde, but not knowing what love truly means, or how to accept loss, while Isolde truly DOES love Viego, and sees someone that needs to be nurtured and cared for. It isn't a healthy relationship by any means, and they both need saving. Perhaps it is too late.
I'm very confident in my sexuality but I don't think I've ever been more certain that I am in fact a lesbian through and through as I was when I was subjected to the "How is Viego hot?" section of the video and had to physically stop myself from puking in my mouth
Personally the walk animation for me feels much more like a pouting child. Which in itself fits his character super well. I do not get as much violence-infused vibes as you got.
I wish Viego did remember the incident with Banshee-Ysolde. There's a lot of potential character depth that's discarded by him not knowing that Ysolde's rejected him. How'd he handle that rejection? I'd like to see that.
I on the other hand, want to see that she was truly in love with him, but thousands of years have made her fall out of love. But part of her wants him still. But I'm a sucker for tragic love stories.💀💀
The Gwen Insights stated that Isolde dreamed of being a princess...she idolized Camavor even if her country was colonized by them...then the prince suddenly fell in love with her and its a fairy tale... So i feel like they were truly in love but circumstances right now will determine what Isolde thinks of him in present day
I think it’s a bit of both. I think Isolde was infatuated with him - I mean, if you’re a poor peasant and suddenly a handsome prince showed up on your doorstep, professing his undying love for you, and offering to whisk you away to a life of romance and bliss, well, how could you resist? It’s a fairytale come to life. But I believe that after a while, this happily ever after started to crack. The initial infatuation blinded her to Viego’s flaws and as it began to wear off, Isolde started to realise that he was an obsessive lunatic.

Ever since the reveal trailer, Viego's always been giving me Castlevania vibes. From his Dracula-like personality to the way he dresses. His outfit would fit with most modern castlevania pretty boys like Alucard or Soma. Even the musicbox tune and the recent Gwen reveal all fit with this slight Symphony of the Night aesthetic. That's probably why I think his overall design doesnt fell *that* out of place as Seraphines. Yes, hes modern for league standards, but I could still see this kind of character in a dark gothic type of fantasy game. And the shadow isles always felt like that kind of place. 💀
so true bestie. I want Ayami Kojima designed svelte pretty twinks like Vlad and Viego who are infinitely cooler than other champions for the sole reason that their appeal infuriates haters
Actually, given his motivations it would be funny to have Viego dressed like classical Dracula simply because Dracula’s story before Lament of Innocence but after Symphony of the Night is also a “they killed my loved ones so they will pay” story.
My biggest gripe with Viego is that he looks almost nothing like the rest of the shadow isle champions. Just feels very inconsistent when Kalista, Ledros and Hecarim all have a very medieval wraith kind of theme to them whilst Viego, their king, seem more like he's from some MCR tribute band.
On Viego's clothes, while the design may be somewhat modern, a lot of characters from the Shadow Isles in LoL and LoR are dressed with something that looks like black leather/hard_leather/metal/cloth. It's not on every character/card, but it is with a lot of them. So it could be that The Ruination transform the material of it's victim's clothes, and the design is sort of a mix between their personality and what their were wearing when they died.
I actually love Viego. Being a big fan of Legends Star Wars’ portrayal of Vader, you usually see like, the tragic hero turned villain after a broken heart and frankly it’s a fantastic trope. But seeing it turned on it’s head and realising that even when Viego had his love, the phase that was supposed to be the ‘hero’ part, he was still an egotistical dickhead. Unlike Anakin or any of what I’ve seen personally
Me, the grimdark writer’s thought about Isolde’s POV: What if there romance wasn’t consensual in the least? What if Viego may have not directly threatened her in anyway. But stalked her, wouldn’t stop asking even as she said no everytime. And as he grew increasingly insistent with presents and more proposals. Soon earning her the embittered jealously of those around her, her own neighbors started to hate her and she figured the only way to make it stop. At least a little- was to say yes. Unfortunately, the exact opposite happened. She might as well have been a gaudily worshiped mural in his palace. She may have been cherished like no one else in his life or in his entire country. But no matter how pretty the cage was it was still a cage. With bars painted gold, but made out of possession, manipulation, Viego’s own entitlement, as well as Isold’e growing self blame. It grew to a point she sent an Assassin after herself. Finding death a comparably happy ending, to staying any longer with him. Yet as she was brought back and made the shadow isles. She thought even as a ghost with the power to kill him, as she did. Would make it all end. But he’ll find her even in the afterlife. Extra: I never like romances where one is a monarch and the other is a peasant/citizen/servant/slave. Cause the power imbalance makes consent virtually impossible. Even if it’s not in character for that sort of exploitation and the relationship is healthy regardless. That’s either never the case in those situations, and can romanticize otherwise abusive situations. Or it’s outright stupid to suggest anyone who seeks sex/intimacy from someone whose entire life they can have total control over. Has altruistic motive and intentions. Even if my version never comes to pass or it’s not nearly as dark. I hope Riot subverts towards this in some way. I mean I can’t expect much but maybe
I understand the point in making him hot and i appreciate the fact that people who like dudes have more eye candy in the game, but i wish he looked more like a king honestly
If we ever get a pre ruination Camavor Champions in Legends of Runeterra I'd like to see them react to their current selves like if Isolde's colour story mentions Viego saying something along the lines of "I'd give up this world for you" they might reference it like Pre Ruined Champions to Enemy Viego Kalista "I can't believe he really went this far for her" "Because you were late, NIECE!" Hecarim "HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA I CAN'T BELIEVE HE DID IT!" "Shut up and tell me where's my wife!" Viego "I-I meant it as a metaphor" "And I'd gladly do it again" Isolde "T-tell me you were lying" "I'll fo it again if it's for you" And if the running theory of Gwen being the doll as their expecting child is true then I'd guess their reactions woyld be like: Camavor Royalty to Ally Gwen Isolde (Queen of Camavor) "(Teary)I-is this a dream" "ISOLDE! IT'S ME! GWEN!" Viego (King of Camavor) "You really do have her eyes" "W-what, really. Thanks" General Kalista "Does this mean I'm related to a doll?" "The world's really crazy. I love it"
Viego, also known as Hot Topic, the person, is that kind of design where its hot/cool and streamlined for a place that doesn't or shouldn't have hot/cool streamlined designs.
TBSyken: “perhaps…he will even change for you.” Me: “He’d better!” TB later: “There’s a reason this is so popular, it’s Kylo Ren-“ Me: “psssh, please. He’s not even that hot.” TB: “it’s Jareth the Goblin King and the Phantom of the Opera.” Me: “…All right, I’ll grant you that last one.”
I mean, based on his old sword sprite alone we would never guessed viego appereance, I can't even picture him wielding the old sword. Like, tell me, what would a viego skin, with him wielding his old sword, look like?
Random thought: Wouldn't it be neat if Runeterra's ancient champions were consistently dressed in quasi-modern fashions, with standard fantasy costumes reserved for champions &c from the current era? That's not the state of the game right now, but it would be neat if it was-you'd have an excuse for modern fashions in the fantasy world _and_ consistent visual design! 8:00: "And no one, and nothing will ever hurt you while he's there to shield you from it." ...except for assassin poisons, of course. 4:15: I'm not holding my breath for Riot to do anything interesting with Isolde's story, but I'm looking forward to being proved wrong. 10:45: I'll take "unexpectedly obvious" for $600 please. 21:21: Or, on modern TV Tropes, "Perfect-Play AI". A bit less evocative, but clearer to people unfamiliar with Mortal Kombat.
2:27 "It is Isolde who gets struck" as she disappears from the painting was a great edition touch. Great video as always! One of the 'what's the deal with' I was more exited to see. I only wish riot adds a toggle to use his in-game armor, because it looks cool as fuck.

@@TBSkyen of course, i have some difficulty to mantain a lower and quieter tone, but n anyways, ur voice's really good, and of course. u have godlike content, keep up with it.
I agree with the criticism of Viegos design, it has its strong and weak points, but I personally love it and wouldn't change a thing. Say what you want, but that "edgy emo fuckboy" aestetic has it's charm. I also love characters connected to "twisted love" like Yandere and similar stuff. Obsessive and extremely intense affection is another level of scary, because it feels way more personal than say a dangerous creature that's trying to kill you just because it likes to kill and you happened to be nearby. 💀
Between Gwen and Viego I can't wait to see what other anime visuals and narrative directions Riot Games decides to pull off with The Ruined King storyline.

That way of explaining how viego sees himself Is genius, i never really thought about his own point of view of his own actions and he seeing himself as a hero
I mean yeah, that's pretty basic villain writing.
He has some quotes when he says for example ,,You're not the hero of this tale. You are not anything!" and I believe some others.

One thing I want to say to your comment.
"NO CAPES" (Edna Mode)

Yeah, Viego's visual design is... decent, and likable, but his lore blows everyone out the water.
His visual design could've been better but his lore is great.
Yeah he is one of my favorite champs also one of the only champs who’s lore I looked up
I think people just still have that preconception we are forcefed in childhood that attractive people are automatically good and worthy of trust while unattractive people aren’t, when the opposite is often the case.
My guess:
Isolde DID love him at first and was happy in their relationship as I guess that the outside didn't know of what a failure their second prince was.
I haven't forgiven you"
Then Isolde got poisoned, maybe by accident maybe she begged for an intruder to stab her in an attemt to escape him, we only know the story Viego knows.

They say it *can't* end well.
"made Isolde stab him"
um that's not taking responsibility for ur own failures in a relationship. TBH Viego deserves better

Now you see why the tiddy babes are popular. You can not defeat the power of horni.
Ok so the storyline of Viego is pretty fun, but Gwen is the last nail on the Gacha aestethic's coffin for me 💀
Just fcking give her buttons as eyes, or maybe turn her skin into fabric.

Nah viego did nothing wrong
I am always reminded of Yahtzee's Shadow of the Colossus review whenever I think of Viego. To quote: "This is what they call true love apparently, something I've always felt is virtually indistinguishable from brain damage."
Honestly I like Viego as a different take on a leader character for League, specifically one who is incompetent, completely bonkers, and utterly lacking in moral complexity or merit as a ruler.
Every video on RUclips should have a "How is Viego Hot?" section tbh 💀
This video made me super self conscious of my posture
☠️ Damn I just hope when Isolde finally drops presumably at the end of the year she's somewhat closer to that runeterra card art that was leaked ago where she's sitting on a giant amalgamation of wraiths. That would look rad as hell.
Skyen is describing Viego in a way that is very convincing. Like yeah.. I would make that mistake. Thanks
Edit: 💀
TBSkyen: so this is why Viego is hot
Me, knowing the routine because my league husbando is Aatrox:
I love how some people found how he describes Viego attractive mean while I find it creepy and it just makes me feel extremely uncomfortable. Although the fact that I'm aroace probably has something to do with that. :D
Skyen really has an incredible voice, I could listen to him talk about character design for hours! (And i usually do 💀 )
Sacrificing everything for love. Viego literally taking it seriously
Everything but himself.
I am getting kinda worried with the art direction League is going with it's characters lately 💀

Also, I wanna see Viego vs Evelyn. Like she turns into Isolde to mess with him, and he just goes NUTS.

Damnit, this joke was already made by an early viewer. Well still, great video. Excited for more Bloodborne stuff, although I've been enjoying the League content a ton.

I laughed so hard at that part
jeez Skyen your sensual narration of the fantasies regarding Viego are way too good
22:00 ,,You are not the hero of this tale... you are not anything."
I have to say, with the context of Arcane being a thing now, I sure hope a season of Arcane touches on Viego. We REALLY need it.
But another trope that's been very played out is the "rich person abusing poor person and poor person just deals with it out of fear."
I'd like to see their relationship be a true, honest romance that defies class and stature.
Perhaps it is too late.
nooooo viego has to be bad and you can't feel sorry for him you have to hate him and expect that every character in the universe would hate him too /s
I'm very confident in my sexuality but I don't think I've ever been more certain that I am in fact a lesbian through and through as I was when I was subjected to the "How is Viego hot?" section of the video and had to physically stop myself from puking in my mouth

Sounds like one of those (popular villain character) x Reader, fanfictions on Wattpad
I just realized that Isolde has the hairstyle of death in Gwen’s trailer
"He is a terrible idea on two legs"😂😂😂😂. Hahahaha...That killed me 🤣🤣. I'm crying 😂😂
Personally the walk animation for me feels much more like a pouting child. Which in itself fits his character super well. I do not get as much violence-infused vibes as you got.
oh boy the league yandere fanfic community on tumblr is gonna have a field day 💀
I wish Viego did remember the incident with Banshee-Ysolde. There's a lot of potential character depth that's discarded by him not knowing that Ysolde's rejected him. How'd he handle that rejection? I'd like to see that.
We know how he handled it, he went crazyballs lol
If Isolde actually gets any significant characterization and it's revealed that she always hated Viego's guts, I will be overjoyed. 💀
@@cartoonishidealism582 welllll...if i remember correctly...i think Isolde did push Viego out of the way and she took the poison that was meant for him..
He only became obsessive after the Ruination..but before the two of them truly did love each other...
The pain Isolde felt after she died..well thats enough for her to change her views on him...especially after her soul got split...
@@phoenixflames23 the poisonous knive meant to kill Viego is deflected by the kings guard and accidentally cut Isolde. This assasination attempt happens because Viego is a rly bad king. So he was never good all along.

Kids, this is what happens if you take teenage love stories way too seriously 💀
Egotistical dickhead, he still deserves love and he's still a perfect young man
Me, the grimdark writer’s thought about Isolde’s POV:
What if there romance wasn’t consensual in the least?
Maybe a robe orvsome extra ornamentswould do the trick and also make it seem like a corpse being handle by the mist like Lif from FE

18:15 viego starts twearking
If we ever get a pre ruination Camavor Champions in Legends of Runeterra I'd like to see them react to their current selves like if Isolde's colour story mentions Viego saying something along the lines of "I'd give up this world for you" they might reference it like
Pre Ruined Champions to Enemy Viego
Kalista
"I can't believe he really went this far for her"
"Because you were late, NIECE!"
Hecarim
"HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA I CAN'T BELIEVE HE DID IT!"
"Shut up and tell me where's my wife!"
Viego
"I-I meant it as a metaphor"
"And I'd gladly do it again"
Isolde
"T-tell me you were lying"
"I'll fo it again if it's for you"
And if the running theory of Gwen being the doll as their expecting child is true then I'd guess their reactions woyld be like:
Camavor Royalty to Ally Gwen
Isolde (Queen of Camavor)
"(Teary)I-is this a dream"
"ISOLDE! IT'S ME! GWEN!"
Viego (King of Camavor)
"You really do have her eyes"
"W-what, really. Thanks"
General Kalista
"Does this mean I'm related to a doll?"
"The world's really crazy. I love it"
So, I dunno if you ever caught it TBskyen but his sword is actually a mash up of the two designs of the BoRK item you can buy in game XD
Viego,
also known as Hot Topic, the person,
is that kind of design where its hot/cool and streamlined for a place that doesn't or shouldn't have hot/cool streamlined designs.
TBSyken: “perhaps…he will even change for you.”
Me: “He’d better!”
TB later: “There’s a reason this is so popular, it’s Kylo Ren-“
Me: “psssh, please. He’s not even that hot.”
TB: “it’s Jareth the Goblin King and the Phantom of the Opera.”
Me: “…All right, I’ll grant you that last one.”
I mean, based on his old sword sprite alone we would never guessed viego appereance, I can't even picture him wielding the old sword. Like, tell me, what would a viego skin, with him wielding his old sword, look like?
You hit the nail on the head. He appeals to a juvenile fantasy often found in younger teen girls
Does that make Seraphine like... a hipster?
2:27 "It is Isolde who gets struck" as she disappears from the painting was a great edition touch.
