    I have to say that I love this track being a AWB fan from the very beginning of AWB way back in the early 70s for me Hamish was truly the voice of AWB such a shame that certain members of the band had their differences because if they hadn't what would we have been given with class tracks like this one.

    Mr Stuart's voice is absolutely ageless.
    If your eyes were closed as this song began and the vocals opened, you'd immediately know who was singing, Hamish! Wow!
    I thank The Lord that I was introduced to AWB, early seventies, in my early teens. Hamish's voice is immediately recognizeable by those who are from that era. There is no other like his! Thank you Mr Stuart, and to all your AWB bandmates, for producing that wonderful funk back then, and onward with your current bandmates for keeping alive the sound that is unmistakably yours!

    I searched all over the internet trying to find the original. (hahaha) Everything comes together in the usual magical way the rest of Output/Inputs recordings do! I especially fell in love with the track when the Steely Dan-like harmonies by Hamish floated off the track. Priceless. Will keep listening to everything you guys/girls create!

    As good as anything AWB or Hamish on his own has ever produced. I'm reminded of the joy I felt hearing the 'Shine' album for the first time. Classy as ever.

    • @philbiddle1899
      @philbiddle1899 2 года назад +1

      Sadly the 'Shine' album was the beginning of the break up of the original AWB, Hamish had quoted that he felt the band were becoming too commercial and with Alan Gorrie and Hamish no longer getting on Hamish felt they were leaving their soul roots behind them which he was proved right with the Cupid's in Fashion album albeit being a reasonably good album which led to the band calling it a day as they felt they had gone as far as they could resurfacing many years later with a new line up with only 3 original AWB members on the Aftershock album. For me personally the band had lost its originality sound without Hamish.

      @@philbiddle1899 Completely agree that it was Hamish Stuart who gave AWB its authentic soul sound - all the great American soul bands of that era all had a falsetto voice in their line up. 'Shine' was an unapologetically commercial album but non the worse for that. It was in the in the fold of what was happening musically at the time, namely disco (maybe the tag end, admittedly), and at the time there were some top class recordings produced in this genre, due to the cross-over of jazz session musicians for a brief period . For example, I think Jerry Hey did the horn arrangements on 'Shine'. It is an album with great production values and although it is 42 years old, it still stands up. Have seen Hamish live at the 606 club and he is as good as ever. Also still knocking out some great tunes, 'Soul Deep' being a perfect example.
