- These are the two new Amur Tiger cubs at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo - updated 2-21-24 .
Mom is Zoya, and dad is Hector. A male and female were born November 6, 2023. The Zoo announced the names on February 14th...they are Mila for the girl, and Sergei for the boy.
Hector came to Cleveland in November 2017 from Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster, England.
The Zoo Facebook page mentioned him being 2 years old on July 27, 2017.
Zoya came to Cleveland in December 2019 at the age of 4, from the Odense Zoo in Denmark.
The Conservation status of the Amur Tigers is “ Endangered”. There are approximately 500 Amur Tigers left in the wild. They were formerly known as Siberian Tigers.

-Today, 95% of these tigers are found along the Amur River where the Amur River forms a border between Russia and China
- Amur Tigers are the largest of the 6 Tiger species (the other Tiger species are Bengal, Indochinese, Malayan, South China, and the Sumatran
-Males grow larger than females, males average 475 pounds (range from 400-675 pounds)
and females average 260 pounds (range 2200370 pounds)
-Tigers are solitary creatures. Except for about a week during mating, males and females live alone. The only exception is a female and her offspring. They may stay together for 2 to 2-1/2 years
-Cubs leave their mother to find their own territories sometime between 2 and 2-1/2 years old

Isn't it amazing how God made each animal group with their own sense of individual intelligence that fits for that group to survive. I look at mother's of different animal groups or troops care for their children. Just as humans do for our children.

A beautiful predator! In Russia, in the Far East, the number of Amur tigers is 750 individuals along with cubs, according to data for 2023. I used to see a tiger 2 meters away from me, in the Taigan Lion Park. A big, strong predator, beautiful! Looking into his eyes is like being attracted to a magnet. Thank you for the great video!
