Hi Kelly! Please do a dedicated video on how you apply your blush! Shades, techniques. It's perfect, subtle but glowing. Some influencers use too much, don't know how to blend and end up with zebra stripes. I want YOUR cheek look! 🙂
With a sponge, as mentioned, or with powder blush and a blush brush. Just tap lightly on the powder with the side of the brush (not the tip), tap excess on your hand if necessary, and apply tapping lightly all over the area where you want the blush placement. A wider area to achieve a more diffused look. Repeat to build up color as much as you need in your preferred areas (less intense along the edges, more intense toward the apple of the cheeks or the side of the cheeks, whatever you prefer). If you need some blending, you can then try circular motions with the brush when it’s ran out of product, so you’re not applying more color. If you feel that you went overboard and you need to tone down the color or blend more the edges, you can go in with translucent powder and buff the area or tapping with your foundation sponge or brush along just the edges.
What everyone mentioned here and next you feel like purchasing any blushes, perhaps try ones that are around your skin depth or a tad darker. People do use too much blush imo. My eyes widen when I see bronzer, 2 blushers, blush topper and highlighter. I won’t mention any names. Lol
As far as your skin goes, I noticed a huge difference in my skin after I moved from Florida to Tennessee! I had oily skin growing up and now it’s more dry/combo. I also noticed a difference after I started a new birth control. Crazy how something’s can change how our skin works!
The revolution bronzer was an unexpected twist, but I have it in medium and I love it! The tone on drugstore bronzers are usually too orange IMO but this has a great undertone. Have to use a light hand though otherwise it can look dirty on me (strong olive undertone). Another drugstore one I LOVE is the cronzer from Bperfect but I suspect that's more a UK brand.
There are so many good drugstore makeup products now that buying high end is truly just a preference not necessarily having to do with choosing better quality. I started wearing makeup at a time when high end brands were really superior to drugstore, this was in the 90s(more like early 2000s). I still remember shopping at the Prescriptives counter and loving the girl's natural makeup. She had beautiful skin. Back then I got into high end because I hated buying sealed makeup that I couldn't test before buying. And stores did not exchange, let alone return opened makeup. Today most of my makeup is drugstore and even though I do have a few high end items, I can tell you, they are not in any way superior. The Wet n Wild loose power and their skin tint is awesome. And all the retail stores return makeup so it's a win win.
A best + worst drugstore powder video sounds awesome! Maybe before the new year you could do a more causal shop my stash/demo of fav drugstore powders? 🥰 thanks Kelly!
True. I had oily skin my whole life, then my skincare routine balanced my skin, but then my pregnancy this year and turning 30 pushed my ever so slightly to the dry side.
Love love love these videos! I’m finding I prefer drugstore products over high end MOST of the time now. There are still some high end skincare/face products that just work best for me that nothing seems to measure up to (Bobbi Brown Face Base, urban decay perversion waterproof mascara are a couple). I have dry skin and I’ve found a couple of product that come close. And the L’Oréal lash paradise mascara is close but it’s not exactly the same. With that being said, I feel good about being able to find great makeup items at the drugstore and treat myself without the “mom guilt”. Yes I always have had major mom guilt when doing or buying for myself while raising my kids. Now we are raising our granddaughter. Hopefully I’m teaching her the value of a dollar, while still teaching her to value herself. We DESERVE to have nice products to take care of our skin and hair. To wear some make up and some perfume if we want. For ourselves. And the best way to teach our children is by example. That doesn’t mean everything has to be expensive. There are a couple of fragrances that I really like that are hella expensive. I ask for them for Christmas or my bday. Same with the make up. I save up for it. I am worth it and I want my granddaughter to know she is worth it. She will be 13 in December so teenage years. They are so uncertain about themselves as it is. Also, your skin can change every so many years. If you make a move to a diff state for example, if you say have a child, have to have any kind of surgery, anything that your body perceives as “trauma” can mess with your hormones and your skin, hair and nails. I’ve had my hair fall out in clumps 😩 I used to have combo skin. Now it’s either dry or really dry. I take a lot of meds for autoimmune diseases including steroids. The steroids really mess with my skin making it soooo dry. I have to do an intense hydrating overnight sleep mask 2-3 times a week or I do slugging a couple times a week. That keeps my skin soft and the dryness away. My lips were terrible. So sore and cracked. I either use CeraVe lotion (let it absorb for a few mins) then go over with the CeraVe healing ointment. This is the same stuff I use as a last step in my nighttime routine when I’m “slugging”. It works. I now have my lips all nice and the way they should be so I just use the Laneige sleep mask on my lips every night. I also use it a couple times during the day combined with other balms and lip oils, which I LOVE. Sorry this is so long. Love your content and always look forward to your uploads! Keep right on shining my friend! 💕💫✨🌟💗
Kelly, I def think the oily skin change is due to the tretinoin. I’ve been using Rx retinoids for almost 10 years, & I’ve noticed the same thing. I was super dry before & now I’m fairly normal to slightly oily. I have heard it’s Bc retinoids do cell signaling Bc of the vitamin A, so one of the things they do is regulate oil production. Yes, tamping it down for oily folks, but it also ramps up oil production up a bit for drier skin folks. Basically gets you to wherever you aren’t to be more balanced. This is also why it can help prevent skin cancers, since it can help regulate the irregular cell activity from dna damage that can later lead to skin cancers.
I should also mention I’m older than you (35), so age-wise, my skin should especially be starting to get drier now, not getting almost oily. This is another thing that backs up my theory about what these retinoids can do lol
I have used Covergirl pressed powder since I was a young teen. It is my favorite. No matter what I try it remains my favorite. The brown packaging, the sensitive one, the pink one. They are all excellent.
I love that covergirl powder! I don’t really powder my face often but the covergirl one is super blurring. I can put a decent amount on and it doesn’t make my skin look cakey or dry.
I swear, I used to be able to fry a chicken with my face grease by the end of the day not all that long ago. I’ve recently noticed that I’m barely oily and have occasional dryness on my cheeks. I think our skin changes along with our hormones as we age.
I love that Catrice lip oil! It's one of the only products I currently have that is almost all used up. I recently grabbed a new one because it's always sold out.
The E.L.F putty bronzer fades? I have 3 or 4 shades and don't find that to be an issue. I've repurchased a couple times and that's one reason why I always have it. It's so reliable! Bummer it doesn't work for you though. 😕 Such a great product - same with the putty blushes. Beautiful and great formula on each product. Definitely recommend 👌
Thank you for Bite mascara alternative! I fell in love with that mascara right before they announced that they were closing. I stockpiled some extras, but they'll run out eventually 🥲
I enjoy your videos, and I appreciate that I always feel I can trust your recommendations. I still miss their Looking Ahead lipstick to this day. I'm a bit wary buying stuff online regarding this one because it's been dc'd for years. I wish it was added to a current line like Chauffeur did.
So I like the Lottie London mascara, but it is the hardest one to use in my collection. I have about 5 in total open (yes I know that is a bit much but they all do different effects that I like and some are colored mascaras) Any who - the Lottie London one is so hard to use because I always have to use a lash separator to de-clump my lashes. They get extremely clumpy. I will say though - the difficulty and effort I have to put into it is not enough of a deterrent to get rid of it. So I guess that says a lot lol
was hoping to grab the revolution bronzer but I'm medium warm under tone and it pulls gray so I'm left with my first choice chZarlotte tillsbury so I'll grab the powder as well don't like the grey look I'm not mad that's the way it goes i love the Fridays drug store vid xx
I purchased the Lottie mascara off of your recommendation and holy cow, I can only do one coat because the second coat is too intense and clumpy. I will repurchase though!!!
