I'm a weekly washer for powders and a completely-unheard-of daily washer for creams/liquids. The acne-prone struggles are real! As for soap, I swear by Daiso's brush cleaner (now, if only everyone in my local area could stop buying out the stock, that'd be great!)
How do you clean your powders and creams!?
I think they mean cleaning the brushes they use for creams and then the brushes used for powders
@@brenna6964 lol that makes sense!
@@ZeroToHero22 there’s videos to help sanitize makeup products. Makeup artists do it often. You can spray powders with alcohol
I do my brushes every time I use them too. Having cream product just hanging out on the brushes creeps me out. The EcoTools brush shampoo is pretty great too.
Thank you for changing things up and posting a longer style video! I really enjoy these and enjoyed seeing this from you 😄 Definitely great for having on in the background and great for decluttering inspo!
Thank you! It was fun to try something different :)
More video like this ❤️
When I’m repressing I put a paper towel or cotton round over the product before pouring alcohol on. It helps it distribute evenly and usually prevents pouring in too much. If I have crushed the powder fine enough ahead of time, I wont even stir it up with the alcohol, I’ll just press it with the soaked cotton round to make sure it penetrates through and forms a paste that way. Then I’ll press again with a dry paper towel or cotton round to finish it off.
I love a decluttering and organising video, it would be great to see more! I'm sure you know this, but the Kjaer Weiss products are all refillable, you can pop out the pan and replace it with another eyeshadow. The refills are a lot cheaper than the whole component and the metal case should last forever, so it's more cost effective over time. It is less of a good deal and less eco friendly if you don't like the product, or don't use it and don't end up refilling it, which is the problem with this type of product.
I am exactly the opposite of you when I declutter brushes. I like having duplicates of my favorites...so i don't have to wash them everyday. It's the one-off brushes I tend to get rid of. Like if they aren't good enough to have multiples of, they aren't good enough to keep for that one time 5 years from now where you need that very specific shape.
I wash my brushes once a week, (as well as my mom's) and I just use plain bar soap. I've found especially with face brushes it cleans them the best.
I switch out my sponge once a month. The biggest key for me is to wash the sponge after each use. I even wash my brushes if I have used liquid or cream products on them. It kind of grosses me out to think of putting a disgusting brush on my face. It is like eating with dirty utensils.
Me too!😊
I wash my velour puffs in the washing machine in a mesh bag with my reusable cotton rounds (cold water, delicate like all of my clothes) and they’re still fantastic. I also dry them on delicate (again, like all my clothes) and no issues.
Loved this, I wash my brushes every Sunday and sponges after every use. I use our olive oil bar soap. I have a really small brush collection with an exact duplicate set. The alternate set rests for the week after drying to really let the glue in the ferrules to recover. I have 6 sponges that I rotate so they can dry out fully before I use them again.
I love a good clean up and declutter video
I love longer form content. Its nice to watch while cleaning, cooking, or doing something.
A 52min video from Kelly?? YES PLEASEEEEEEE
Holy crap brush decluttering needed. ❤
I'm giggling a little at how cutthroat and decisive you can be with make-up versus your fondness for all things brushes! xo
I use Zote soap! I cut it up, keep the sliver I am currently using in a bar soap container, swirl in the soap and then to the mat. It is inexpensive, effective and lasts forever….far longer than some of the of the more formal brush cleaners. I drain the water out of the plastic soap thing, let it air dry, and it stores easily. And I love my sigma switch, I have both sizes and I agree, they make a huge difference! 💗
Good morning from NJ Kelly! Love a good declutter video. I wash my brushes every Friday and my makeup sponge daily. I do not have all that many brushes like you do, so it isn’t as labor/time intensive. Washing my sponge daily has pretty much eliminated acne breakouts for me. Have a great day!
Wow I’m impressed. That’s great!
Same with the sponge! I wash my sponge with antibacterial soap before every use. I would be wetting it in the sink anyways, so it just makes sense to wash it first too.
This is what I need while I put away laundry and clean 😊
Love both declutters and longer videos. ❤️ 😊
I use Zote soap to clean my brushes. It’s super cheap and mostly used from hand washing but great for brushes.
It’s very soft so I cut it up and mush it into an empty face balm tin. Then I swirl the brushes in the tin. Works great though I might grab that brush cleaning mat! That would be a good compliment!
I’ve been wanting to try that soap! at the moment I am using baby shampoo with a blush cleaning soap and it’s working ok for the time being.
I second Zote soap! So cheap and lasts awhile and just easy to use!
Funny, I use that soap bar to wash my underwear. I don't throw them in the washing machine.
I use the Fels-Naptha bar of soap. It’s also great on stubborn stains on clothing. It has saved me a few tops. The soap is so affordable too.
I wash my brushes and sponges every other Friday and it feels so good to have them fresh. I only get rid of a sponge if it starts to tear. I used to use Dawn dish soap to clean them, but switched to the Sigma liquid. Love it! Thank you for the long video. I love a good declutter, organize or clean video!
I wash my powder brushes after ever second or third use and my cream/liquid brushes after each use. I wash my powder foundation brushes each time as well. I wear makeup 5-6 days a week and I am acne prone. :)
50 minute video from Kelly!? Yes please!!!
Interesting that you mentioned you use your velour puff for blending out concealer. I've discovered that I like to use mine (without powder) to tap under my eyes after concealer has been blended with sponge. Apparently, powder just isn't my friend under there and just tapping with it bare is helpful in semi setting the concealer.
Oh good idea! I have terribly dry under eyes! I'll have to try that!
My favorite thing to wash brushes is a bar of Castile soap! It works so well and keeps the bristles in great shape because Castile soap is natural and made with oils! It REALLY cleans well though!
Sometimes I love these types of videos to help me motivate. And other times they are so satisfying when I just watch and do nothing. 😂
This video came at the perfect time! I bought a whole bunch of makeup over the winter and finally tested it out last month. I had been keeping it all in a bin that I moved on top of my vanity & over time there was makeup everywhere. I finally put everything away over the weekend, but now I need to reorganize my vanity because of all this makeup overflow. I'm going to Dollar Tree today for bins & hopefully this gets me motivated.
I clean my brushes after every use as that way it doesn't seem too overwhelming. And I use isopropyl alcohol no waiting time on drying then either. And I find it cleans the best.
I have the same pedestal sink you do! Super tricky to clean all of those edges. I wash my brushes every week because I like to use the same ones. ❤❤❤
When things are going well I usually wash my brushes like once a month, I wish I did it more frequently but honestly that’s just how it is. I always just use whatever bar soap I have on hand, then I don’t have to worry about buying another product specifically for that task
I love that you use a shampoo bar. I only use shampoo to clean my brushes. I see no point in buying specific brush cleaner when I have SOO much shampoo compared to how little I can use.
I loved this video! The idea to use bar soap or bar shampoo to clean brushes -- brilliant. I feel like I go through the liquid brush cleaner so quickly. And everyone can relate to their makeup area getting a little out of control & cluttered, even those of us with smaller collections. It feels great to take care of those makeup chores!
I love this style of video, cleaning, reorganizing and decluttering! I use dove bar soap and my palm. I tend to wash my brushes once every two weeks, depending on how motivated I am to clean lol.
yayy i love a good long video! have a nice day kelly!
Thank you for watching!
Love these types of videos & love Sarah Rose, so relaxing. It's like stepping off the makeup tredmill whilst still talking makeup. I use baby shampoo for washing my brushes & the kids hair 😊
Love this style video. It reminds me of when my Mom or sister come over and I clean or organize while they visit. You have a LOT of makeup brushes! I get that it’s your job, but girl you got a passion for brushes! To answer your question, on how often I clean my brushes. First, I usually do my makeup about 5 days per week. I have about 1-2 of most type of face brushes and about 10-12 of each style of eye brush. So I’ll clean my brushes about once per 2 weeks. I usually use Cinema Secrets to clean them and then a deep clean with bar soap every 2 months. I like the soap from AOA studio (the one in the tin) and I use the same one to clean my makeup sponge. My makeup sponge I replace once a month and wash daily before I put on foundation. (I’m acne prone and paranoid about this.). I’m also paranoid about eye infections and change out my mascara every 3 months like clockwork. It’s funny how everyone’s routine is so unique to them.
I wash my brushes once a week and my sponge (I use a little one from Real Techniques) after every use. I find that when I wash my sponge immediately after use I can avoid any staining! And then I replace the sponge about every three months, when it starts to break. I only have a small brush collection (about 10 in total), so the cleaning is done in no time! I use a Dove soap bar and a little brush cleaning "egg" to clean them.
I rotate makeup monthly (mix of existing & new stuff); and I wash brushes/sponges/puffs weekly 👍🏾
I wash my brushes weekly and my sponge before every use because I’ve noticed my acne flairs if I go too long between cleaning them. I actually use an antibacterial bar soap to clean them. I used to use baby shampoo but bar soap was cheaper 😂
I put my powder puffs in a delicates bag and wash it with my face cloths and reuseable cotton rounds in the washer. They come out pretty good! I don’t think it changes them too badly if at all.
This came just in time for my weekly cleaning day. 💕💕💕 YAAY
That was a completely AWESOME video. As far as testing type videos, works for me - bring them on, please!
I will wash my makeup brushes weekly! I have sensitive skin and it helps so I don’t get bad reaction. I will use dawn liquid soap and I have a mat like yours that I use.
Omg Kelly.had no idea u could wash the triangle puffs-I was throwing them out! Thank you! ❤
I love declutter/organizing videos. 💛🌻
yay!!! I’m moving and decluttering rn so this is perfect thank u😚😚
⭐️LOVE THIS STYLE OF VIDEO 😃 Keep them coming Kelly !!
This was great motivation for me to do makeup maintenance day!
i will 100% watch this video many times as a comfort video. i rewatch your project pans and declutters all the time!
I LOVE long videos and declutter/organization video so I was so pumped to watch this! Loved it and keep bringing the longer videos if you want🤗
So excited to see you making content this long!!
Such a wonderful video. This really inspired me to really go through my excessive brush collection. Thank you !
Yes!! This was a great video. Cleaning and organizing are such stress-releasing activities and watching videos on it always gives me great ideas to improve my skills. Plus love seeing someone else with a mega brush collection ❤❤
A drugstore and sunscreen video would be great as well😊
I LOVED THIS VIDEO!! One of my absolute favorites!!❤
Awesome video!!!! ❤ Thank you for sharing it!💖
I'm one of the few people who actually enjoys washing her brushes and do it after every use 😂 I do not have as many brushes (even though I'd love to buy more, I feel like I haven't found THE best brushes for me yet) so washing them frequently means I'll always have clean brushes whenever i do my make up. Btw I loved watching your declutter, you always bring new content on your platforms and this new addition was perfect! Love from Europe ❤
I love the long video! I like having it on while I get ready and do chores 😂❤
I wash my sponges and brushes every other week. I have actually started washing my eye brushes daily when I use them. I never use more than 3-4. I keep a rephr soap bar in a small container by my sink with a very small cleaning pad. I throw the puffs into the wash.
I clean my brushes every week, i find that so important. I use a cleansing oil and works the best. I tried many ways but non works like cleansing oil. After cleansing oil i like to wash them with a cleanser or soap. Its just like douple cleansing but on brushes.😅 They really get squeaky😍
I also can recommend you to rub those sponges softly on the cleansing mat so that you get rid of those stains💜
So here for this type of video! I loved spending extra time with you! And this was definitely satisfying to watch. Love it! ❤️
I'd love to see a video trying the new makeup at the end of this video!!
Same! I want a trying new makeup with that Sigma palette and the liquid bronzer! Actually everything from PR that she can fit in lol
I definitely enjoyed this longer video! ❤
Would love to see a video on your recommendations for affordable brushes! I need to replace my old ones
Love this type of video! I deep cleaned my kitchen while listening
The Versed Gel Moisturizer is my go to favorite. Regardless of price.
Watching this as I clean my (very dirty) brushes is so motivating! Also, I like this style of video!
I LOVE THE COTZ sunscreen primer! It is the best under my makeup or just on it’s own.
Definitely interested in a video with new Sigma palette. I almost bought it this weekend.
Thank you 4 this longer video loved it❤💋
This is my favorite kind of video & I really enjoyed it. Thanks! ❤
this was such a fun video!! i love declutters/organization vids and i love longer videos so this stuff is my jam!! i would love to see more from you the next time you're in the mood for it. i remember when i was a teen i saw the olive oil + dish soap hack for cleaning brushes and it's not bad, but now i just use sephora's brush cleaner since it's easier and i'm a very lazy guy! have a lovely week!
Great video! I am a brush hoarder and it's hard for me to declutter them! I HATE washing them but always feel so good when its done like I accomplished something big! I use the Beauty Blender cleaner as a favorite then It Cosmetics cleanser, and I just tested the Sigma Sigmagic cleanser and its good. Tfs.
😂😂😂 My BK Beauty brushes are also all shoved into the travel case but I was on a weekend trip. I, however, washed mine last Wed too 😉
I love watching these types of vids too!
I loved this!! Hope to see these more often for sure. Also, I’m a brush hoarder too😂😂 It’s so hard to depart with them, even though you need too😂😂
Keep them because one day someone will need to use it/borrow one and destroy it. Can't tell you how many times someone has used a brush at Halloween/special events, left duraline or some crazy waterproof medium and not cleaned it and I'm like well it was a spare phew
I use the sephora daily brush cleaner between uses and than use brush soap from sigma or the pink zote soap (works wonders on stained brushes)
This video made my day! Please do more ☺️
I loved this video!!! So relaxing 😍👏🏼
That was a fun video Kelly! I enjoyed listening to it in different pieces while in my hotel room in NYC 🏙️
Love this kind of video!! ❤
Love this type of video!!
Hi Kelly, I am a new subscriber and loved this video! I use a bar of teatree soap and the Sigma cleaning mat to wash my makeup brushes. I found a silicone strip with suction cups on the back, makeup brush holder at the $ Tree. I hang my brushes in the bathtub to try, easy peasy!
Loved this!!
I would love a good sunscreen video. Spf is essential for healthy skin.
I am curious about the Current State & Peach Slices products. I 💗 the cool tone blush! Any videos covering these would be nice to see.
Thanks!
Also I REALLY enjoyed this style of video!
I find it easier to keep up on washing my brushes now that I've decluttered about half of them. I still have a sizable collection but it's so much more manageable. I have and organizer for eye brushes and another for face brushes. I put dirty brushes into a single ceramic holder I got for Christmas a couple of years back. I try to wash my brushes now before the ceramic container is full.
I love makeup chore videos. ^_^ They're the most relaxing and make me want to do my makeup chores. lol
Loved this video!!
I love love love these kinds of videos 😍
Mmmmmm yum yum . This was soo good. I kept thinking you were gonna stop or speed up and you fidnt. So good. Ugh thank you
Love this style of video!
I definitely loved this style of video
I'm interested in the Catrice Summer Obsession face palette! I used to have a similar one and the powders were beautiful, I'd love to see a review or a GRWM with it:)
Castile soap is great for cleaning brushes. You can get the bar soap version too if you’re married to the idea of using a solid bar.
I love this type of video!
I wash my brushes weekly with a bit of the same face wash I use for my face. Quick and effective,
Really enjoyed this
I find Dr bronners castile soap bar works really well for washing brushes.
IN LOVE WITH YOUR NAILS !
This was so relaxing! 💜💚💙
