For the first time ever on a keyboard controller, add greater expression through polyphonic aftertouch and bend pitch through vibrato-like movements on each key. Transform your tracks with deep, acoustically natural expression through Four Dimensions of Touch that make LUMI Keys the first “4D” controller.
Glide - Glide your fingers from side to side to bend pitch, like on a string instrument
Press - Press to deepen sounds, like a saxophone player does through breath
Lift - Lift to change a sound's resonance
Strike - Strike to sound a note

We've needed to come this far so pianists can stop being bullied for not having crescendo, diminuendo and vibrato
Pianists do have crescendo and diminuendo .
@@UserUser-xk7py I mean, in some way yeah, but you have to play various notes to give the effect, unlike string or wind instruments that can do it in only one note

Have you had any issues with quality over the years? I'm in a similar situation and considering getting one
@@Swordslash hello, yeah so it’s fine. If you’ve never played an instrument before you’re going to be guided through to some song which you enjoy, sure, but don’t doubt yourself, this will not replace an actual trainer.
Quality of hardware wise, it’s solid, no issues with the physical product
@@wonkeycypress good to hear. I read a lot of online reviews about poor build quality, bad smell, cheap materials, etc. Hoping I won't run into that if I decide to pull the trigger on one
Guys, you had A LOT of disappointing reviews about the quality of the product. How about you’re wide open honest and tell us what improvements you’ve made to fix this issue?
Hi Reinold, you can compare some of the changes between the Kickstarter edition of LUMI Keys and the newer build here: playlumi.com/lumi-whats-new
onemaxlight well that’s how kickstarting works:) Investing in an idea, helping to make it real. Nothing is perfect from the beginning. These people got the keyboard for a lower price. Without the investments from all the Kickstarter early adopters people and their feedback, it would be impossible to improve the product for the future.
@onemaxlight they're broke bro
A lot of these comments are roasting LUMI but personally I see a lot of improvements over time - especially design and branding wise so keep it up !! Maybe it's not widely accepted yet but you'll get there! Keep it up ROLI
However, the people aren't wrong. You can do everything this does with a full size midi keyboard/piano and a mod wheel.
The difference, this has RGB and no mod wheel. And you get two octaves.
@@MrPianoMan they have a bunch of other stuff u can connect - idk seems cool to me . Plus u need to use an entire hand for mod wheel but here u can just do it on the key so both hands playing notes !! But yea truthfully idk if I'd pay so much for this lol
@@StarCourtesan yeah. That's where I kinda give up with this company. They make a lot of great things but I think they should stop trying to be too premium, and start focusing on pleasing the majority (cost wise).
@@MrPianoMan but why should they do that when you already have Behringer? 🤷🏻♀️
@@tswitswi that's a completely different company and they were expensive and popular before they randomly decided to make cheaper products. This company isn't really popular so they could still change their target audience very easily with minor backlash (if any).
I'm thinking that they should be more like spitfire audio. They have great expensive products but also have a massive library of more affordable products (including LABS).
This company should embrace their unique twists on already existing products and make them more of a norm for new artists.
They should definitely make lower priced products and encourage artists to buy into the cool new things they are developing, whilst also releasing the bigger, better and more advanced versions.
The thing is. People aren't really buying into this company as much as their products are quite different and it's hard for smaller artists to buy the products to try out as they are expensive.

This is imo better than the roli seaboard, I played that thing and it felt like playing on playdough, this I expect should feel like a keyboard PLUS the expression? amazing. I love how it can connect to make a full size keyboard, I teach piano online so I can imagine folding up a 88 keyboard into stacks of roli, fold them into my bag and teach anywhere I want.

I think people think this is way too bad when it’s great. The colorful lights help you recognize and memorize the keys, the small size makes it good for portability for when you’re on vacation and want to play piano, you can even change octaves. The Different features as glide and press and etc. all seem very cool, and it has a sleek but stylish design.

The Seaboard: Am I a joke to you?
OMFG this random test strikes on keyboart at start of video - sounds like actual track intro
I love the first beat so much
I love ROLi demos, particularly with the larger keyboards, but as far as I know, you never mention the MPE synths/sound packs used in those demos. Or are they ALL based on your own VST (can't remember the name)?
I used to always shake my finger trying to make vibrato on the piano because I was used to it as a violinist and this is cool!
sorry but 2 octaves for £300, i'll pass.
Pretty sure there is a knob that can make one octave higher or lower like every other keyboard..
@@driftwoodmusic3915 and for producing, that's fine. or for a song without much range.....but for live performance of course you can switch octaves, but what you can't do is play really low on the piano and really high at the same time. It just takes away range and the ability to spread things out a bit more. I have no opinion. just expressing thoughts. haha. take care.
@@driftwoodmusic3915 Obviously he is talking about the amount of keys you get for your money.
You have noticed that you can pitch shift by 'wiggling' the keys? This adds interesting expressiveness, but comes of course at an additional cost. Definitely not for most casual hobbyists, but some ppl enjoy it and are willing to invest the time to make great use of it, not to be compared to a normal midi piano (MIDI can't even handle this kind of multi pitchshift per key, they developed their own protocol for this).
I'd see this as a slightly cheaper version of their slightly more expressive seaboard. And it also has these programmable lights that maybe interest some ppl, and can be combined to a larger keyboard if you have more of them, or with their blocks product. Its all not for me as I don't see myself investing the time and effort to get good use out of it, but its quite unique, and I do find it very interesting.
@@driftwoodmusic3915 I think you might be the knob xD
Now this is what i call a true gaming keyboard
I really love your videos especially this one it made me feel like i was i a movie
Cool instrument Bro
That strike part needs to be a full song
wow amazing sound and amazing design!
Exactly what I was looking for
I wish I was good with music keys haha - this seems like it would be awesome for a combo of jazz techniques/chords and EDM beats and synthesizers (as in the last clip)
good tool amazing 10 out of 10. my 9 year old nephew will LOVE IT
I know that this thing’s main appeal is rgb and compact size, but I can’t help but think that you would be better off just getting an electronic keyboard. It has all the functions, more range, and possibly more versatility for a similar or less price.
none have vibrato on their keys tho... I mean, you could use knobs on midi controllers or expression pedals, but sometimes it's more intuitive to do vibrato on the key itself.
Glide: Looking like egyptian dubstep.
Press: Josuke's theme at first then changed to something else.
Lift: idk.
Strike: AYO WE FUNKIN.
Everyone loves ROLI's keyboards so much, but if their costs were lesser, most of the comments on their videos wouldn't complain.
when you hit that strike got damn
Press and Strike is already present for all MIDI controllers with velocity support. Lift is basically pressing the key again.
So, all midi controllers basically have three _dimensions_
If it has a mod wheel, there's your glide - the key to the next dimension.
Many reviewers called the old one a toy, latching onto the RGB hype train... But wowwwwww! This is such impressive n creative gel of technology that opens up many possibilities. I really see this going somewhere. Any chance you guys planning on a full size keyboard?
Everybody complaining that it's expensive isn't aware that polyphonic aftertouch used to be (and still is) very expensive niche technology. There are just a handful of devices that can do it and all of them are multiples more expensive than 300 $. Just saying. I'm grateful that ROLI made that tech affordable.
00:55 i need more of this
