I just realized, placide may be the smartest (and most annoying) enemy in the entire game, uses a sandy so you gotta get close to damage him, but also has a shotgun so if you do actually get close to him you'll get blown in half like Johnny back in '23
Not even necessarily a fighting style. It's more about fully exploring the absolute limits of the game's creative freedom by artificially imposing a focused and unique restriction. Think of the permadeath run, for example. "permadeath" kinda has to exclude the end of Act I, but otherwise, yeah it's totally possible. You're right that the key element is pushing the restriction as far as possible, because this approach tests both the player and the game. Speed runs are basically one very specific version of this. It's also the most likely way to discover unexpected (and potentially hilarious) edge-case experiences.
honestly i think that is one of the big things as to why ymfah has such status in the challenge run community, his videos arent just struggling for the point of a challenge, its about setting rules for a run and seeing how op you can get within those boundries thats usually way more entertaining to watch than just sitting there while some guy wails on a boss with 1 damage weapons for 3 hours or smth
When i found the quick retrieve mod for throwing knives, i couldn't resist doing a warp dancer throwing knife build. Even without a sandevistan, being able to pepper everyone with blades every 2 seconds is an immensely fun way to play. Pretty sure the legendary punknife recovered even faster too.
You don't need a mod legendary knives auto retrieve in 3 seconds that give you enuf time to throw both extras by the time the 2nd leaves your hand the 3rd has returned. Allowing you to repeat the process using sandy until room is dead
Smasher mentioning Rogue makes perfect sense. For the secret ending you are required the Ebunike. The old stomping ground of smasher. That's why he knows of your connection to Rogue.
I think it's because Smasher thinks anyone in NC who would be bold enough and have the skills and connections to stage another assault on Arasaka directly like this must know Rogue, since she's the only remaining member of the '23 assault she would be an obvious person to contact for someone looking to do something similar. Also, it seems like they have some kind of score to settle, possibly something to do with the short time they worked together after '23.
Man, even though I haven't played Cyberpunk for like 3-4 month, every video you release about it just makes me wanna play it again. And as I saw your videos when I started my first playthrough, every video also brings the nostalgia of the moments when everything was new and every single minute spent in game was a new discovery. Makes me wanna lose my memory about the game and play it from scratch again. Thanks for your vids. They make me feel good every time.
I HAD NO IDEA THEY COUNTED AS BLADES!!! That’s sooo broken. I love this game so much because it’s not afraid to be generous with buffs and such, best power fantasy
Was wondering if you’re planning on doing more Cyberpunk 2077 build videos. Always fun to play around with different builds especially ones from your channel. With that said, you deserve so much more views for the quality of content that you bring.
Thanks man! I kinda ram out of builds I wanted to make so I’m jot site right now 🤷🏻♂️maybe with the dlc something new and cool will have me make another!
That Royce fight really went well, I was expecting this one to not only take a while but be painful, really surprised. In patch 1.3 I had a knife & hacker build, was so much fun, but not managed to get anything like it in 1.6. This build of yours looks like a nice candidate.
Always love watching your challenge runs. And the way you become hung up on little things, like in some of the first ones where you always played Roach Race, or commented on Yorinobu and Saburo's tap dance off. And this one, with the random ceiling fan loading in at the raffen shiv ambush section, hilarious. Keep up the great work!
I did my first ever playthrough with stealth throwing knives, thankfully I started just after the update that let us recover them. Had a ton of fun doing it this way, completely forgot about quick hacking that run lol

your special runs are mad fun, got 300 hrs in cyberpunk myself and its amazing how many ways there are to play this game and still have fun. thanks for your vids choom and i hope there will be more to come, especially with new things to try and do with 2.0 and phantom liberty!
wanted to thank you for giving me the idea to do something like this! It's not a challenge run, but I'm doing a throwing knife build for fun and so far it's crazy fun!!
These types of runs are my favourite. They’re not hard just for hard sake, they require a certain set of skills, and at the end, turn out pretty powerful
After watching that long Adam smasher fight. It would be really nice if his last phase is that a container appears in some way, his lackeys show up, and he gets a new prototype body or something from that container and regens a quarter of his health instead of V bullying Adam Cripple. Gives the sensation of "You tried, but i'm just better" when you finally kill him.
When his nervous system is that damaged and beat up I don't think it's that easy to just plop his head on another body, you need full on surgery for that
Throwing knives are so fun... After putting in some practice, getting used to the mechanics, they are my go to in my melee builds early game. Can't get the monowire for a while but I can throw knives real quick!
These are great videos! One possible run suggestion would be a full non-lethal stealth run (well as much as possible). You can use quickhacks and any weapons you chose but can't use the cyberware that makes all your attacks non-lethal as that would just trivialize everything. Also goal is to be as stealthy as possible, ideally never be seen but I understand there are parts where that isn't really achievable.
Changing the type of combat you play in different parts of the game could be fun. Ex. stealthy in Act 1, blades in Helman's arc, pistols in Takemura's... Kinda like a skill-upgrade run now that I look at what I wrote
The rules actually have a good fun/challenge feel to them. I did my (so far the only) playthrough with a stealth pistol + additional nethacks build, which became OP in a way that may've tilted towards unfun, and watching your vid sold me on making a variation of your rules for the next playthrough. Except I'll allow melee with katanas and batons (the latter for quest-related non-lethal neutralization). In the very least because parts like 17:20 would be too frustrating.
I'm sure you've noticed by now and it may have changed since the ps4 version is stuck on 1.6, but bodyshots with thrown knives won't immediately kill. Headshots absolutely do, but I've tossed knives at just about everything else and it consistently works.
Hey man just wanted to say that your video structure and editing is professional level and I definitely thought you were a big youtuber before checking. You earned another subscriber in me and I'm sure theres more to come. Keep up the good work and congrats on 24k subs.
Well dang, I was looking for a fun reason to run some good ol Cybertostan again. Awesome run! (also I see I'm not the only one who saw the rogue fanblades)
These videos make me want to fire up cyberpunk just to remember pulling out my monowire makes my game drop to -5fps. So basicaly thankyou for giving me an outlet to live through vicariously
Seems like the fan is still in the correct place inside the building, but its blades are shifted so the fan spinning makes them fly in circles. That would be the same as a character with one of the body parts shifted somewhere, when that character turns that one part will circle around because it has to stay on the same side at all times. I think I've seen this before not with body parts but guns.
Ever since I did the Arisaka tower mission and got the throwing knife off of the old mans dead body I've mained them as a weapon, I had no idea you could stack throwing knives to avoid the long recharge times tho, I will absolutely be doing that now lol
I did something similar in the newest patch (2.1 at time of writing), and got some nice results. especially since i specced into headshot multipliers and stealth damage, throwing knives were a staple choice for me. not a purely knife run but it was amazing.
The stinger knife you get from the scorpion quest w/ Mitch is awesome for this build, sence it makes it so your constantly getting your bleeding and poison effects. Both of which are essential to your build.
Yes and no. In 10s to 20s, sure, bleed and poison can make a little bit of difference (you see a drop off in the 20s), but by lvl 30s onward doing any sort of bleed or poison damage becomes useless because your damage output by that point is so high--you're essentially one-shotting every mook you come across (regardless of difficulty) and bosses seldom last long enough for bleed or poison to really matter as well. The most effective high Cool/Reflex knife builds (and katana/mantis builds) wind up ignoring perks or anything to do with bleed or poison for that reason, and focus mainly on high crit and/or damage output and not even concern themselves with knife return times, because so long as you jamming out crits, it's going automatically come back to you thus the return time for the knife no longer factors. The youtuber Benjamin_Winters www.youtube.com/@benjamin_winters does a lot of knife builds as well, the knives typically used wind up having high return times, but get ignored because of high crit output so its repeatedly being returned back to hand instantly.
so i watch you since you had like 1k subs and i usualy don't comment, but hey i recon if u ask for it why not? As someone who only has ever played after 2.0, seeing pre-patch Cyberpunk is always like looking into an alternate universe. It’s so interesting honestly
Throwing knifes only is actually my second run and its a blast (and extremely broken). Honestly the design of the game makes it so that you are broken by the time you hit any skill tree at 20
This could end up real life. Not only do we live in a cyberpunk dystopia but if some sous chef manages to burn an Omlette or leave green stains on a choppig board Gordon Ramsey will go postal!
Throwing knives are honestly the most satisfying weapon to use in the game. Or well, the top one spot belongs to using savage sling to throw people off of high places and onto the cars below. So the top second spot.
I love this video for that bit where you say what the best vehicle is, and you're like, "ohhh I didn't know I could drive this!" It's so sad you can't buy one as an owned car, I love the cute little trucks they're totally the best. Wanted to do all the race missions with them but unfortunately the way those work, the game won't let you - it has to be an owned vehicle or it won't start the race. Even tried to get out of one car after the starting klaxon and change it for the little truck, not caring about the head-start I was giving them, but it just acted like I was abandoning the mission completely. Blah! I mean if you want a handicap (and they do kinda need it to make it more of a challenge), you can go in the minivan or the columbus van or whatever. But it's just not the same, it's just not all cute and square and dinky. That tiny little red shopping car kinda is, but it still isn't anywhere near as adorable as my bumbly little minecraft bee in cyberpunk clothing!
Fun trick for eddies. You need any scrap item or any item that you can have multiple in a stack of i.e. grenades, maxdocs, bounce backs, craft materials. Go to a random vendor select your item for sale and sell all but one of that item while holding the item selection button. On xbox controller for example press A to select item, set the number of items to sell at 1 below your total amount, hover your cursor above the selected inventory item while holding a, confirm sale with x, the select quantity menu pops up again and you select your max quantity and boom. Duplicated item and eddies. System doesn't recognize the items as being real in this menu so you buy it all back at a profit and repeat for free money or whatever. Used it to dupe mk.3 maxdocs at level 2 as well as all my crafting materials then used scrap item duplication for all the eddies I could squeeze out of the vendor. Any scrap item will do but the higher the value the less work you have to go through
i'm only in the middle of the video, but... pro tip for throwing knives: the rarity and model of knives affects the throw cooldown. the punknife for example have a base cooldown of 4s and it goes down to 2s when legendary. this means if you got 3 of them you literally never have to wait to throw them.
Throwing knives are amazing. I've got one I've done that with. It's fun. I've dropped groups of as many as four before I get detected. That last one is aware that something is going on and is in search mode, but they die before they see me. It's not easy but its almost ballet when you nail it.
I had the Katana/Throwing knife build with Sandevistan in my second playthrough since my stats were fucked up in my first that I just went pistol and rifle. It was a fun build although there were some hiccups along the way, especially during Adam Smasher fight. It's very satisfying to land a headshot with throwing knife. Then I went for netrunner build on my 3rd. People died before they even see me.

Yeah I wish we could own any car, that’s why mods are nice!
@@abrahamsandwich not for consoles, blah ah i'm glad some of us can fix it at least
The quick Gordon Ramsey clips are pure gold
My favourite build in this game is 3 throwing knives + Mantis Blades. So satisfying.
17:09 Blud thinks he's Neo 💀
That dodge was disrespectful.
Any scrap item will do but the higher the value the less work you have to go through
LOL! That's hillarious! It's a friggin teenage Gordon Ramsey!!
i'm only in the middle of the video, but...
pro tip for throwing knives: the rarity and model of knives affects the throw cooldown. the punknife for example have a base cooldown of 4s and it goes down to 2s when legendary. this means if you got 3 of them you literally never have to wait to throw them.
Oh I know but would Gordon use anything other than a chef’s knife?
@@abrahamsandwich a chef's kiss?
Throwing knives are amazing.
I've got one I've done that with. It's fun. I've dropped groups of as many as four before I get detected. That last one is aware that something is going on and is in search mode, but they die before they see me.
It's not easy but its almost ballet when you nail it.
Bro I would have been playing with that glitching ceiling fan for hours lmao
Oh trust me, I edited it down for a reason haha!
I’ve been really enjoying this series. It’s hysterical 😂
Idea for you. Beat the game completely overburdened 😂
Already planning on it! Thanks though, glad you like the content!
Crafting knives in plain sight just seems silly. "Oh, don't mind me. Just making things."
"You'd better not be making weapons."
Mans turned smasher into a unicorn
I had the Katana/Throwing knife build with Sandevistan in my second playthrough since my stats were fucked up in my first that I just went pistol and rifle. It was a fun build although there were some hiccups along the way, especially during Adam Smasher fight.
It's very satisfying to land a headshot with throwing knife.
Then I went for netrunner build on my 3rd. People died before they even see me.
Netrunners are crazy good!
