No technically no…tiago tigor and punch no more hold their 4 and 5 stars rating…the new nexon is not tested as well but since it now has side curtain airbags there is a good chance it will repeat its rating…the same cannot be said about tiago and punch…they do not have side curtain airbags and their rating if tested now is bound to fall…more so for tiago as until recently it didn’t have esp and has an unstable body shell integrity.
prateekrai you are Wrong. Tiago, Tigor have Old norm safety rating. As per New norms, they are Not tested yet.

while a drastic push for safety is highly unlikely as the government pulled back on its 6 airbag scheme…i believe it should rather be a market push if we want safer cars at all price bracket i believe it would not be fair to expect smaller cars score as good as 15-20 lakh cars…nevertheless we do have adequately safe cars in the lower end as well…the new Alto k10 with 2 stars in newer protocol with stable body structure is commendable…even with the old norms tiago led the way with 4 stars ignis had 3 stars…both of them fairing better than creta and seltos under older norms…so it is not that we do not have adequately safe cars it us just that further improvements must be done continuously…like the swift wagon r and nios being upgraded to a 3 star car under newer norms…the creta and seltos are really the cars that should be doing better considering how much they cost…it is only a matter of time safer cars become mainstream as Indian market evolves slowly

Harrier and Harrier Facelift Both Safari and Safari facelift have the same platform. Only the design of the regular variant and the facelift is different but since it is the same platform the build quality is the same. If Harrier and Safari facelift have scored 5 stars then obviously the regular version of Harrier and Safari is also equally safe.But still I would say to drive the car at normal speed. No 5 star scored car can save you from over speeding, so do not over speed. Stay safe yourself and keep others safe too.🚘

May be just a 5 star body shell but their cars are full of issues, paint issues, critical engine issues, gearbox oil seal leakages, rusting issues, electronics issues, aftersales the major one. Nexon also has tons of issues like oil cooler failures, gearbox failures, A mount failures, and what not. Research twice before even thinking of Tata cars. Just a body shell will not save you on the road. A reliable engine, reliable gearbox, reliable electronics, reliable brakes and gogd quality ESP bug free software might save you definately.

These stars are only for safety rating, not other stuff you mentioned
Ha bhai mere paas 2008 model indica hain aur abhi tak sehi chal rahi hain kabhi raste pe kharap nehi hua 1lac 70 thousand km chal raha hain. 2021 mein safari li thi wo bhi badhiya chal raha hain. Maine bohot toyota ko dekhe hai jo bich raste pe kharap hui hain. Agar sehi se maintain karoge to koi bhi vehicle saalo saal chalega. Bhai agar accident mein jaan bach gayi tab naya gadi le lenge. Mein sirf tata nehi mahindra ka bhi vakt hoon. Mere dost ke paas 2.8 lac km chali hui bolero hai koi engine ka bada kam nehi hua abhi tak.
I have tata cars since 2008. Indica 2.5L km. Indigo 2.7L km. Naw safari XT 55k km and punch 24k km. Not any issue at all. Maine your car properly. Don't criticise my Desi brand. Specially Ratan TATA❤

Disclaimer: My goal is not to criticize the GNCAP or any crash testing agency. They are doing their bit in their limited capability and funding. I am just highlighting some points that NCAP tests usually do not mention (because they don't have to), but points that most car buyers are not aware of.
Here are some things that a NCAP rating does not tell you, but we must know:
1.NCAP crash tests only cover a fraction of Indian crashes
NCAP crash tests are not expected to represent each and every type of crash test in the country. However, current NCAP crash tests only cover a fraction of Indian crashes. NCAP crash tests are designed to represent the most common crash types that occur in western countries. The most widely used crash tests (front moderate overlap or side-impact) are meant to emulate car-to-car crashes. In India, we have minimal car to car crashes. Most of our cars are more likely to impact fixed rigid objects or heavy vehicles or two-wheelers or roll over. In fact, research on Indian crash data states shows that the frontal impact test may only represent about 20% of Indian car crashes.
NCAP results are not transferable to all crash types
A common misconception held by many is that NCAP performance is transferable to all crash types. Eg. A car scoring 5-stars in the frontal/side impact tests will do good in all crashes. However, that may not be the case. The 5-star rating applies strictly only to that particular crash type. The same car cannot be expected to get the same performance in, say, rollovers or hitting a small curb. This is because each crash type requires engages different components i.e. frontal impacts require stronger longitudinal/cross members and rollovers require thicker pillars. Car makers are expected to provide the same materials across the vehicle but there have been instances of car makers 'gaming' the tests e.g. many US car makers were caught reinforcing the driver side to pass the IIHS small overlap test, leaving the passenger side exposed. IIHS then resorted to test both sides to bring car companies in line. I am not saying that all car companies will do this, but it's better to err on the side of caution. Bottom lines matter the most to all car companies.
3. Crash test performance needs to be compared within the segment.
NCAP ratings are only to be used to compare performance across a segment. Eg between two compact sedans or between two compact SUVs. Never assume that a 5-star rated hatchback will perform better than a 2-star rated large SUV just because of the ratings. In real-world crashes, mass matters much more than crash test ratings.
4. Crash test performance assumes crash compatibility.
A corollary to the above point. Crash tests simulate a crash where a vehicle is impact another vehicle similar to itself in terms of weight. A 5-star small SUV will not give the same performance when it hits a larger SUV, truck, or object.
5. Crash test results apply only up to the test speed.
Many here are probably aware that energy is proportional to the square of speed i.e. doubling the speed quadruples the energy. The same applies to crashes. Frontal impacts are tested at 64kmph and side around 30kmph. These speeds are decided on the most common impact speeds as per crash data in the western countries. Don't expect the same performance even at speeds +10kmph higher than the test speeds. It is possible for a frontal impact at 80kmph to kill belted occupants or a side impact at 50kmph to split the car into two.
6. Lower ratings can be for reasons beyond the crash test performance
Always check the report to understand why a car has received a lower rating. It may happen that a car has done well in the tests but was deducted ratings for not having ESC or some other features across all ratings.
7. Car safety ratings expire.
Crash test protocols are revised every 4-5 years and cars need to be tested under the new protocols. The same car which has scored 4/5 stars in the older protocol may not even score 3 stars in the newer one. Never compare car safety ratings across different protocols. Although GNCAP hasn't started this practice, the EuroNCAP clearly mentions the expiry period of their ratings.
8. Pay even closer attention to child safety ratings.
Child safety ratings are only applicable if the child is seated in an appropriate child seat. Not on the lap or even in a seat belt. Another thing that NCAPs don't go into detail is that the child safety rating is also child seat specific i.e. it only applies if the child is seated in the brand/model used in the tests or recommended by NCAP. Not for all child seats. Eg the 5-star child safety rating that the VW/Skoda vehicles received was using Britax Dualflix (~$400) child seats, seats which are not available in India and VW/Skoda sells them as rebranded accessories at INR 64k!. Except the older Wagon-R crash test (which used Luster child seats), none of the manufacturers (Indians included) have tested their cars using locally sold brands such as Luvlap, R for Rabbit, Mothercare,etc. They always use the expensive Britax seats that are not available in India. I have tried raising this issue to GNCAP multiple times using my Twitter handle but to no avail till now.
Bonus point: Crash test ratings apply only to belted occupants.
