Made a big mistake at 3:24,, it is the total service cost of the BMW 5 series for 5 years which means it is around 25-30k per year which is almost equal to Audi's.

1.The car had water in it instead of coolant.

1 - Buy any luxury car
2 - for the first year take the most premium insurance
3 - damage the car by yourself
4 - try to replace all the damage parts under insurance
5 - by now you would have replaced 50% of the parts basis how massive damage you made to the car
6 - put some extra money and replace few other parts (now your car should have 65 to 70% newly replaced parts)
7 - now onwards with all these you should be driving it for next 3 to 5 years with some wear and tear hear and there😅
    Happy luxury 🎉

My 2 cents after looking at used cars market for a while:
If you really do wanna buy old luxury cars for reasonable price to live your luxury car dreams, go for Japanese cars - Honda, Toyota, or even better Lexus - if you can afford.
I know Hondas and Toyotas aren't really "luxury" cars per se, but coming from smaller cars like alto or swift, you will feel 10x nicer in these cars. Plus they're easier and cheaper to maintain. They provide a sweet-spot for most people.
Best "nicer" used cars for the feel good factor
Under 5L: Honda Civic (2008-2013) - Best driver's car in this budget. World class 1.8L engine. Super reliable. These cars can easily go 2L+ km without major issues.
Under 10L: Toyota Corolla-Altis (2013-2017) - Toyota D segment sedan = best of reliability + necessary bells and whistles without any stupid tech that could fail. This makes it a timeless car indeed. Easy to run, easy to maintain.
Under 15L: Honda Civic (2019-2021) - Best car at the best price - literally a steal deal if you can find a clean model as these didn't sell that much. Same 1.8L engine - super fun and reliable. The new shape looks great and doesn't feel like an "old" car. Maintenance costs are also not too expensive, only slightly more than a new Honda City or Elevate.
Under 20L: Toyota Camry (2015 onwards) - Gem of a vehicle. It is reliable and easy to maintain but the costs could be on the higher side. Overall the best reliable "semi-luxury" car in a semi-reasonable price". Far more sound decision than a used European luxury car.
For the people who can spend more, you can look at Lexus, or higher end Toyotas like the old LC.
For the people who are knowledgeable about cars, or have friends or family who can help - you can go pick up a Lexus LS430 from 2002 under 5L or a Lexus LS470 from 2008 under 10L if you find a clean one that has been kept well. Both these cars are super reliable, if maintained and taken care of. They can run for eternity.
They have every luxury feature you could think of, except the gimmicks and stupid ones that cars have nowdays.
Keep in mind they came with V8 engines that are expensive to maintain and sourcing parts is also expensive.

Every car you’ve mentioned on that list has wallet burning fuel economy. Sure, they might be cheap to maintain but aren’t gonna be cheap to run with fuel costs.
Diesel German cars on the other hand are super economical. Not comparing the maintenance cost of the two because obviously the German car will be more expensive on the hole but you aren’t getting that much of a better deal with such low fuel economy numbers like a civic or Prado would return.
I know this because I have an 07 civic which gives me about half the mileage my vw Passat gives me.
Parts on the Passat are expensive when they break but they don’t break every month. The civic though costs twice as much as the Passat to run (in fuel) EVERY MONTH.

It’s just that our economy and middle class doesn’t have the luxury yet to buy these luxury vehicles. But it’s a matter of time I think . In few years bmw and Mercedes wouldn’t be considered as expensive as they are today . Remember 2006? Owning a bmw in 2006 was something no one would even think of , now you see a merc or BMW commonly on the streets .

How good you explained all the parameters, wish you would have shown same interest in questioning the taxations which makes no sense of buying a new car. Cars a decade back were so well made, mention a single car today that's sold without cost cutting. Coz Indian Auto journalists have become pleasers of mass market, now all left in the market are nothing but gadgets with engine and wheels. Indian market has become miserable with nothing to offer other than jacked up Hatchbacks. AWD tho dhoor ki baat, its rare to even see a all wheel independent suspension these days.

This can play out well if you know what you are doing, I bought a VW Jetta 2.0 TDi MT which was run 43K 2015 model. Total came to 6.5 in Karnataka this after replacing the timing belt which is a routing maintenance item for 25k. Even if I spend 30k per year on maintenance (which is too much cuz competent FNGs do it for less than 10K) it will still be cheaper. You are forgetting one major component with new cars, emi. I'd much rather spend 30k a year on a German car which is very safe, comfortable and very very fun to drive than paying 100k a year on emi for base model swift only to save 5k a year on maintenance. Swift is petrol and efficiency also doesn't matter cuz Jetta gives 25Kmpl if driven at 80-90 kmph. So yeah do your research, not all german cars are money pits. Some cars which i can recommend easily (If you have a competent FNG nearby) VW Jetta, Vento Rapid TDi, Octy, Skoda Yeti, 320d and 530d. All diesels. These engines can run easily for 400,000 (Highest seen on YT) if you are upto date with Maintenance. All these cars can be had from 5 to 15L, compare that to what you get new. 3 cylinder swift or the usual Creta / Seltos that every other person drives.

I bought a 2008 Honda CRV in 2019 and used it till 2022. Was a decent buy and after a few repairs, it worked very well for me. However, the point I decided to sell was when I saw that a failed AC condenser fan was costing me Rs. 48000 while same part was costing Rs 3000 to 6000 in even new cars made in India. I decided that keeping the car for longer might not be a good idea and sold it for a very good price, and purchased a new car.

You left out one category of folks who buy these, "Car Guys". Some of the reason why people still buy old models are, older german cars used to have Naturally Aspirated V8 and V6 options, now whereas mostly all cars under 1 CR have only 4 cylinder options which are turbo charged, Older cars had a soul and a feel to it, which the modern versions have lost. Cars like the old w212 coupe with the v6 and the old Audi Rs5 with the 4.2 FSI V8 or even the old A6 with the V6, these are really great cars for spirited driving. Again most enthusiasts i have seen dont go to showroom for service of these old cars. They got their own mechanics and source the spares themselves. So these are some things that a pure enthusiast will do. Whereas the other categories come as u mentioned who just need the car for luxury tag and will end up buying some crappy base model 3 series or Audi A4
