- Ivan has an office above part of his shed. The last winter has been very wet and the roof has leaked regularly.
So rather than focussing on the cars, it was time to deal with the roof.
More sensible videos on workshop activities and driving to follow soon on Shed Racing....
Ivan on the top of eveything once again, John health and safety officer, and Suzy doing an in depth expose on cheap labour. This channel has it all, and not a tattoo in sight. Fabulous content from thr three Musketeers.
What a man, an inspiration to us all at 84 years young!
84 years young.
An example to all of us.👍🏻
I’m more impressed with Suzy going up there than Ivan, I mean Suzy is normally considered sane, whereas Ivan is a complete nutter bless him, so nothing surprises me in his case 😁
This was a perfect application for a drone camera. I afraid the leak would be in my knockers if someone told me that blue string was a safety rope! Like shedbythetracks, I too had my eyes covered. Good adventure Thanks.
@@90FF1 knockers?
Sadly I am rarely considered sane
@@philtucker1224 Obviously a typo. Or perhapsa look into my inner thots? Knickers. 🙂🙂
@@suziepilkington5600 great video, thanks.
I am like you, l also do everything myself, but I'm a youngster at 70yrs. So hope l cam still do it when I'm 84. Crazy that Suzi is on top of the roof as well.
Ivan, you are completely crazy but it only adds to the eccentricity that makes you so interesting.
Old School just brilliant....
The new Fred dibnah
I had my hand over my eyes and watched between my fingers. Cheers from Iowa
I'm with you. If the good lord wanted me to be up that high he would have given me wings! Or really long legs.
@@Joe.Doucette 😆
Mad as a box of frogs! Don't you just love him!!
Box of cogs is more apt
@@stevem7868-y4l Hahahahahahaa! Very good!
Bizarrely funny, I just knew that "What the hell are you doing Ivan" would not get a terribly simple answer.
It reminds me of my Dad in 1956 when he first started respraying cars. His first compressor only had a four foot long hose so to be able to spray the bonnet of our VW Sedan, he made up a rope harness fixed to the roof of the garage so that he could lean over a long way from standing on the workbench. It worked well enough but made it hard to breathe at the same time and getting back up to the bench needed my help…I was 8 and couldn’t reach very well but we did it! Next time Dad made up a new compressor and invested in a new length of air hose! 😀😀😀
You had my wife and i in stitches watching this, so funny. Thank you Ivan, John and Suzie. Just goes to show that LubeTube can be a lovely place to be. Love and best wishes to you all.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thumbs Up to all three of you !!! 👍👍👍 Thanks for the video Alberta Canada Cheers
Elf and Safety gone mad indeed ! It’s one reason I don’t live in the UK.
I live in the eastern Caribbean and Ivan you’d love it, people fix stuff not replace stuff!, eye protection is usually sunglasses and breathing apparatus an old t shirt and no one lives any shorter and it’s more enjoyable and irie 🏝️
Hats off. Fantastic. Love it. Well done Chaps. Keep up the good work.
Ivan. At your vintage, you really shouldn't be going up on ladders. Please be more careful. You are precious.
What, and stop being Ivan?
NEVER!
Thumbs up for the lot of you. Roof leaks are the worst and hopefully this will take care of yours. Cheers!
Your right Ivan, make sure you've got your collar up that wind could give you a cold😁
I love the striped socks 😊
Ivan & his merry band are as entertainig as ever,I certainly would'nt go up there even on a lovely sunny June winters day!!
I'm only 76 but love DIY everything...good to see Ivan same mentality...keep it up mate.
Thanks 👍
Glad to see the Shed Racing staff's skill set also extends to the roofing trades Ivan.
Errr, could I please see your "working at heights" accreditation sir?
Good on you Ivan + John, it's a wonder anything gets done these days with all the OH&S palava...
“Safety string” indeed!
Great one Shed Racing team! If we are watching this, we are one of the good guys!
So Ivan is Spiderman, Who would have thought. Lol.
What a man lots of young people wouldn’t go up there scared the life out of me
It makes me nervous seeing you up there on that roof, you are alot more daring than i am .
Me too! I get dizzy standing on a thick carpet.
I need to do that to my barn roof!! Fancy a trip to America you three!!!!!😂
I was watching Laurel and Hardy only the other day!
Is that some old WW II airport hangar? I'm imagining a squadron of Spits or Hurricanes on that field.
Not ideal having the tractor right underneath where you are working, you could fall off the roof and land on it, and possibly dent a mudguard.......
that is a very good point..
Hey up nice work mate and also to john of course for helping as always
Nice sox Ivan very stylish. 🙂
Wow! I was all pins and needles watching this! Better than any action film I've seen! Take good care and stay safe my mates! Cheers, Paul.😁
Glad to see no one drove the tractor away while Ivan was up there.
Got major #shedenvy I'm afraid, nice work on the roof
Ivan, you ain't right!!!
In the nicest possible way.
Look after Suzie and John. They are irreplaceable.
Never failed to put a thumbs up! And subscribed of course! Favourite channel, looking forward to more in depth Bugatti engineering!!
you should be wearing a harness if you did slip that rope could snap your back and we don't want to lose you .
Ivan does all his own stunts he’ll be riding the roof of a train next thanks Ivan great entertainment as usual 👍👨🏻🏭
That 'safety string' is what telecoms engineers use to pull cables through conduit. Never change!
Really enjoyed this episode, I remember Mary mentioning you were on the roof the other week when I saw her.... oddly nothing suprises me with you anymore 😂 well done suzi for getting up there too. Hopefully catch up with you all soon.
Always BIG 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I did notice your safety trainers - stay safe
Ivan what are you like clambering over a roof and even got Suzy up there too , stay safe guys
Crazy episode, and that was before I noticed Ivan's socks!
Inspirational roof repair Love your work Ivan and again Suzi you are ray of sunshine in a otherwise dull and Grey shed full of rather nice Bugatti’s He he !
Well done to all of you! I have been putting off repairing my garage roof where a scaffolder dropped a clamp that went straight through. You have inspired be to get cracking and sort it out!😊
Not bad for 84!!!
Hayup Ivan I feel the ropes a good idea! even just near you as you work you can always grab a hold of it, I do all my own stuff to including roof repairs I use a thicker rope it's easier to grab as your sliding off, doesn't take much of a slope neither to start slideing off!
Great stuff as ever an Cheers.
Loving the safety socks 🧦 🛵
Ol Ivan has NO FEAR I’ll give him that! Crazy man and you’re not doing much better girl!!!
Did Ivan have to use rope because he didn't have any baler twine? 😅 Top man on top. Of course the tractor started, it's a Fordson Major. Can we have a look at it please?
Yes Ivan mountain climbing with all safety no need for a Swiss seat 😂 thanks from old New Orleans 😎
Awesome.
I see you've elevated your sock game as well. Cheers! 😎👍🧦🏎🏁🏁
Awesome not a snowflake to be found
Stay safe team!
I hesitated on giving the thumbs up as though I approve of people giving me the shivers. Gave it anyway.
Ha Ha! This is exactly what I do, but I attach the rope to a heavy leather belt in case I actually fall, (it would be more comfortable that a rope). Well done in the wind! Chris B.
And my Mrs thinks I’m bonkers!
Who needs ‘8 out of 10 cats’ when you have Ivan on the workshop roof😁? Anyone who makes or ‘teaches the use of’ work positioning kit, should … look away🤣! I presume that John was up there so that he could tell the Coroner how: the silly old codger just fell off.
Cheers from NZ🇳🇿.
You guys are crazy 😱😱😱
We all love you Ivan!
Ivan I fell THROUGH the bloody roof, landed on all fours like a cat but followed through😬 Broken shoulder, ribs, eye socket🤕
Talk about Fred Karno's army. You ain't going to drive a Bugati on a cloud mate.
Oh dear! I had to take my professional hat of to this as it was bizarrely funny. I am intrigued to know what gobbo is being applied as any leaks on such a decrepit roof would be emblematic of a much wider problem, a bit like putting a sticking plaster on Ann Boleyn neck after the axe had fallen.
Good Heavens!!
Rod Hull probably said that he was never going to fall off either
But Rod Hull didn't have a safety string 😄
safety first
Ivan - just the kind of mad idea a dementia sufferer would think up! Have you been tested recently :)
Three blind mice.
I don’t know which of you to scold! The doers or the watcher.
And you came back another day, with no rope?
This is one job best left to the professionals. At any age.
top man best of luck with the roof but just keep safe you lot O M G get down now stay safe god bless
That gave me vertigo just watching it!
Jus wonder what would happen if you got your ropes mixed up.
Perhaps colour coding would have been safer.
Orange for up and blue for down.
Ivan, what the hell are you at your age doing climbing around on a corrugated tin roof. If I heard correctly you said you were 84, well I'm 80 and there's no way I'd be doing that, of course at the present I'm recovering from double knee replacement. What you need to do is hire some one to first clean the roof and then spray on a rubber (vinyl) coating material. I coated the roof, with a shaggy roller, of a mobile home I had many years ago with a product we have here in colonies called "Snow Roof." It was white so it reflected the heat and sealed the roof tighter than a tick. Now get down off that roof, we don't want to loose you, you're a UK national treasure.😅😅
Nothing wrong with this... saved a few bob and knew how well the job was done :D
'Chim-chimany, chim-chimany, chim-chim-cheroo.
when you've got a Dutton, there's nowt you cant do' . . . Just ask him, & see!
Real safety for that roof would require - Roller skates, 50yds of strong bungee cord & the tractor : )
A prefab tin roof like that will have a load bearing capacity, calibrated in pounds.
Maybe it should have been calibrated in years??
Ivan is a former Vlad man in the fire brigade. I can truly say I’ve seen everything. I think you would’ve gotten more thumbs up if you strapped a pillow to your butt a great video.
next time....
Absolutely barking 🙃
84 and up on a roof doing repairs
Blooming heck Ivan, get off the roof……jezzzzzzzzzzzzz. Mad as a bunch of frogs
Ivan Dutton. Repairing the roof while wearing sunglasses, undoubtedly for added coolness...
Still, dont worry. I didn't mind this workshop improvement spin-off episode...
I think a safety harness is in order. If you end up falling just a rope around you could do damage. I'm 79 and I do do things like that but use the right equipment. Hanging upside down on the end of a rope is dangerous.
Perhaps a new roof Ivan?
The Self Preservation Society!
I always give a 👍🏻
And a comment.
And I have "suscribd"
A la shawshank !
In Solihull a few years ago, a chap tied his safety rope to the family car. His wife drove off and dragged him over, killing him.
Very sad to hear that................ but a good way of getting rid of your spouse, now if I can just get me missus to get up on the roof......😂😂😂
.....and I thought that Rod Hull was a nutter!!!
Chuckle brothers do roofing, to you , to me...
Just remember Rod Hull who fell off his roof when that bloody Emu pushed him off.
REALLY?? Ivan, I admire your pluck, but......
Alright you three amigos. I celebrate you all’s independence but there are just some things that should be left to others. There is simply no reason for you to risk your own lives and health just to save a couple of quid on roof repairs. Cheers mates.
Safety Third!
👍
Obviously picked up the French style of health and safety during your trips 😂
Ps don’t fall head first or the rope will be useless 😊
'Health and safety gone mad'... 😸😸😸
Like and subscribe Ivan!
