It's obviously about a relationship, but I (fortunately) haven't experienced a horrid break-up like that. But I have experienced the frustration of life, you know, things not working out the way you hoped for, disappointment, failure, boredom, apathy. I've even asked myself if it's all worth it in the end or not. Up to now, at least, my answer has been yes. And this line really resonates me on days that are hard: "don't pretend that what we had was any less than what it was, and I won't soon be forgetting the reasons why we fought so hard to make it work". I've fought really hard to get to where I am today, and this song is a beautiful (albeit sad) reminder never to forget my reasons for it.
