We’ve been busy, and the Covid situation in Thailand is not so good for getting out and about, so this week’s video is a re-upload from a video we did some time back that had copyright issues, back when the world was normal, pre-Covid. The video features a great street food night market in Trang, which is well off the tourist track, but which has great food and lovely people. The video has been re-edited and updated, and we have been back to this market since we filmed this and the information and prices are still current. Thanks for the video so sad how the Covid numbers are out of control again in places. Safe here in West Australia but sadly nothing local will replace the longing for a Thai food night mark
I regret not going to more night markets when I was in Thailand couple of years ago. 😫 I pray 🙏 for the Thais since Thailand is experiencing another wave of Covid. Are the people of Thailand getting vaccinated? Here in the US, all Americans can get vaccinated if they choose to.
@sactownism Yes, some Thai people are being vaccinated. Vaccinations started here in February 28, 2021. At the time of my reply (May 11, 2021), 1,498,617 vaccinations had been given in total, and the population of Thailand was estimated at around 70 million. This site gives the current Covid infection and vaccination numbers in Thailand: covid19.who.int/region/searo/country/th If everything goes according to plan, hopefully a vaccine will be available for my family and I in Thailand before the end of 2021. Unfortunately there is a lot of Covid here in Krabi where we live, and we are doing what we can to ensure we stay safe. Many people I know have had Covid here now and someone I knew died from Covid here recently 😞 Restaurants have had restrictions on dining in for some time, many vendors are not going to the markets, there is no eating at the markets where we live, and there are also added restrictions for travel within Thailand. It is not a good time for us to be out and about trying to make the kind of videos we make. I am focused on keeping my family safe right now. Sadly Aorn and I are both really busy with work too. I work 5 days a week from home, while Aorn has been taking care of Ananda and homeschooling him because his school has been closed since May. Aorn works on the weekends and I take care of Ananda then. We plan to be making more when it is safe for us to do so and our schedules allow. So very sad for everyone there. Here things are a lot better. I've been to a full premiership football match and a full arena for a comedy show. We just have to show our covid, vaccine passport. As of now Thailand has had over 633,000 cases and the numbers of new cases and deaths per day is increasing, and nearly every day they are new record highs. Restaurants have restrictions on dining in, many vendors are not going to the markets, and there are restrictions for travel within Thailand. It is now virtually impossible for us to go to the provinces we filmed at earlier in the year. Right now my priority is to keep my family safe and well, sadly it is not a good time for us to be out and about trying to make videos. There will be more videos coming when the situation improves. Thanks Mike. This was 2018. The local government announced yesterday that there are 3 high risk areas in the province where we live (Krabi). Unfortunately the little town where we live is one of them. It looks like we'll be lying low for a while.

Hi Darren, We subscribe to your channel and thought you would be the perfect person to ask your advice. We are coming to Krabi end of July/ Aug and would be great full if you could recommend somewhere an area to stay which would be good for street food, beaches and bars as we are looking for the best that Krabi has to offer. Hi Mike and Michelle, Unfortunately you're not currently going to find "an area" which is good for street food, beaches and bars because of the Covid situation. Currently all bars in Thailand are closed due to Covid restrictions. They closed in May and there is no indication from the government on when they might reopen. The best beaches in Krabi are in the Railay and Klong Muang areas, but sadly there is not much street food there currently. A lot of people also like Ao Nang Beach, but there are about 40 street food vendors in the whole town at the moment. The best street food is in Krabi Town, but it's about 15 km from the nearest decent beach. All of the places I mentioned are great in their own right, but you are unfortunately not currently going to find everything you want in the one area. I hope that helps. All the best, Darren

Unfortunately there is a lot of Covid here in Krabi where we live, and we are doing what we can to ensure we stay safe. Many people I know have had Covid here now and someone I knew died from Covid here recently 😞
Restaurants have had restrictions on dining in for some time, many vendors are not going to the markets, there is no eating at the markets where we live, and there are also added restrictions for travel within Thailand. It is not a good time for us to be out and about trying to make the kind of videos we make.
I am focused on keeping my family safe right now. Sadly Aorn and I are both really busy with work too. I work 5 days a week from home, while Aorn has been taking care of Ananda and homeschooling him because his school has been closed since May. Aorn works on the weekends and I take care of Ananda then.
We plan to be making more when it is safe for us to do so and our schedules allow.

Not so many tourist’s as before Covid-19 but it’s opening again.

On April 1, 2021, Thailand had had less than 30,000 Covid cases since the pandemic began. As of now Thailand has had over 633,000 cases and the numbers of new cases and deaths per day is increasing, and nearly every day they are new record highs.
Restaurants have restrictions on dining in, many vendors are not going to the markets, and there are restrictions for travel within Thailand. It is now virtually impossible for us to go to the provinces we filmed at earlier in the year.
Right now my priority is to keep my family safe and well, sadly it is not a good time for us to be out and about trying to make videos. There will be more videos coming when the situation improves.

I love all your videos! Learning so much about all the different Thai street foods available. I don't mind trying new foods but the only thing I'm a bit scared to try is street food sushi. Especially if it sits out and the weather is hot.

Thanks Mike. This was 2018. The local government announced yesterday that there are 3 high risk areas in the province where we live (Krabi). Unfortunately the little town where we live is one of them. It looks like we'll be lying low for a while.

Yes, there are restaurants which are currently open and you will find street food vendors too. Just keep your eyes open :)

We are coming to Krabi end of July/ Aug and would be great full if you could recommend somewhere
an area to stay which would be good for street food, beaches and bars as we are looking for the best that Krabi
has to offer.

Unfortunately you're not currently going to find "an area" which is good for street food, beaches and bars because of the Covid situation. Currently all bars in Thailand are closed due to Covid restrictions. They closed in May and there is no indication from the government on when they might reopen.
The best beaches in Krabi are in the Railay and Klong Muang areas, but sadly there is not much street food there currently. A lot of people also like Ao Nang Beach, but there are about 40 street food vendors in the whole town at the moment. The best street food is in Krabi Town, but it's about 15 km from the nearest decent beach.
All of the places I mentioned are great in their own right, but you are unfortunately not currently going to find everything you want in the one area.
