7500 RPM launch for the STI. Dayum!
And the Lotus driver had a pretty damned good launch too, especially considering that the car is RWD.

Creative1722 I care not for who's better than who, or which car is better, we all know GTR is the king of the street, but I don't care for the GTR, I watch because I can see and feel them drive and they give feed back. Anyway, the real ones to watch is the touge battle where Tsuchiya and his boys test drive tuners cars from all over Japan, that's the real thing. The man is the Drift King because he made drifting popular, but it doesn't mean he can master any car. As the host of the show, I think he has to feedback that way, his reaction to defeat isn't bad.

It was driven by Kinoshita, a professional racing driver. He did pass the Renault Clio and made the Lotus look quite good but he also mentioned that it needed more power but overall it was a good car. That's a Spec C version of the STI. Twin Scroll turbo makes 320HP, lighten, stiffer suspension, and it's essentially like a Type R. It's racing spec setup complete with different tune and modification than the standard STI.

308hp/6400rpm, not a whole lot difference on paper, however it got water Intercooler, might help a lot in continuous maximum power output.
      Weight is still 1450kg.
Other are like lsd, suspension etc which is very easy to replace on the standard sti.

I agree 100% not many things can even touch a lotus on tarmac, they are very small and nimble, with a good power to weight.
the STi can do most things, the lotus is suited for med/small tracks so is the sti due to its rally pedigree, though on long tracks I'd take a high powered v8 rwd for example on a v8 supercar track, different classes, engineered cars for different intentions.

Not really. The transmission is actually better off with a little "wiggle room" as it were. It's also partially a design thing. On my 1998 Subaru Forester (obviously not used in racing) the shifter will shake back and forth a bit when getting the car in motion. The transmission in my car rests on 1 inch rubber pads so that it CAN move to prevent damage from being directly bolted to the undercarriage.

I have been reading up on it for a while. I've narrowed it down to the STI or the 5.0 Mustang. The 370z might handle a little better, but it lacks power, comfort, practicality, and I'd much rather listen to the V8 than that coarse V6.
I'd choose the STI over the Evo for basically the same reason. Not as razor sharp, but much more comfortable and that boxer engine sound is lovely.
So, unless I end up moving to somewhere that's all highways, I'll probably get the STI.

Yeah that would be true if the STi didn't just set the record for the Nurbugring last year.
Subaru did very well in designing a car that dominates the track.
I actually test drove the new Nismo 370 last week. Very fun car, but I prefer AWD

  • @BarnettMotorsport

Unfair Battle, the Lotus is using R comp Yokohama race tyres, the other cars are using normal road tyres!

will do but u need to drive the spec c sti or the cosworth to get the real feel for the car.

but the point is not to have to mod the car. I think the problem was that Subaru wanted to "Americanize" the car to make it more comfortable, but in the end they ended up making it less fun. Sure, it's WAY faster round corners than the previous gen, but, as KT says, the point of a fast tuner car is NOT to sacrifice fun for lap times.
