I do have to say it's one of the most relatable qualities of Team OX: Andy's perfectly logical and reasonable reactions to horror *and* that even if he knows it's coming, he *still* can't stop the startle reflex. That's a Big Mood. (So how's 2020 treating everyone, eh? :P)
Can you imagine that conversation though in the office? M: Andy! You haven't done Any work today, what have you been doing? A: I can't help it, I'm addicted! M: To what? A: Us, I can't stop, we're just...too.......us..... M:... A:... M: Jaaaaane! Andy's being weird again!
Oh hi there! Well I confess I mostly watch the list and highlight videos but yes! I love their content - just nicely in the middle of scripting and organic just giggles as real people :)
I'm sure you could do a series called Mike Doesn't React. And as it features no reactions, you would avoid any licencing fees from nefarious RUclips channels.
"It forms Book Voltron." After Lion Voltron and Vehicle Voltron, Book Voltron failed to excite people and had to get a job in a horror game instead. '80s Japanese Recession Unemployment, that's truly scary.
So the Oxbox fandom wants Andy to be a scarecrow for Halloween, because of the whole Agent 47 embracing the murder scarecrow thing. Mike to be a robot, because he is immune to jump scares. Seriously Mike your lack of a reaction is probably the scariest thing about these videos. And finally Jane to be an Evil Genius because...well I don't really need to explain that one because she shows evidence of that every week.
But Jane wouldn't even be wearing a costume if she dressed as an Evil Genius, silly. The whole point of Halloween is to be something different than yourself!
I wish there were more psychological horror style games that are more slow-burn/creepy than just jump scares. I don't find jump scares horrifying, just startling, and it's just not the same feeling as that sense of dread, horror and general unease that comes from well-crafted horror.
Andrew Wowk I remember several years ago now Pewdiepie actually did a horror VR game. No monsters or jump scares but was all creepy environment and sounds and it was genuinely scary. That's true horror and that's how you do it right
I've played Alien Isolation, Metro and Dead Space and completely agree with you. Those are excellent examples of what I was talking about and what I wish there was more of. Not yet to play Kholat or Layers of Fear, but I really want to.
Andrew Wowk layers of fear would be a good play for you then. There are a couple jump scare type things but for the most part it is just the descent into utter madness
7:12 as someone who has wild pheasants on their farm, I have to say they are the MOST scary bird, they are the king of jump scares. You'll see a patch of grass rustle, and then go completely still, (This is them crouching down and hiding) and when you get real close, they suddenly fly up in front of your face, making a horrible loud noise. Worse thing is, is that they sometimes come in twos, so you think you're safe after the first one, and then you take a few steps, and the next one flies up at you D:
Quail do the same thing, here in the States. You'll be walking through the woods and all of a sudden about eight of the things burst up out of the brush in front of you
wait wait wait. I know I'm late to the party here but... 1. One of the old SoTW videos heavily implied that Mike wasn't human, but a robot. 2. In one of the lists on OXtra, Luke said something that offhandedly called Mike a robot. 3. EVERY SINGLE HORROR LETSPLAY ON THIS CHANNEL 4. In this video, Mike actually _explicitly states_ that he is a robot. Yeah, it's officially canon, Mike is a robot. In case anyone wasn't 100% certain.
From what I understand about Ellen from "Games That Scared Us So Badly We Had To Stop Playing Them" (I'm probably remembering that title wrong/too long) Ellen just parked poor Amanda Ripley in a completely black room on standby mode forever waiting for her to come back. So maybe not fear singing level, but yelping at stuff and jumping for sure. And a lot of "oh, no no no no no no… but… but Luke… nooooo." Not wanting to open a door into whatever horrors lie beyond.
I came across this video again for the first time in years, and I totally missed the first time around that Andy mention's the amen break. What a legend.
well the sprinklers are creepy but if someone turned them on that means that you are most likely in danger so you would want to solve that before investigating their origin
Mike when he’s winning: It’s because I’m not afraid, so I paid attention. Mike when Andy beats him: It’s because I’m not afraid, so I wasn’t paying attention.
If the oxbox team was ever in a horror movie I feel like Mike would've killed the axe murderer minutes into the film. While Andy would be the first to die and Jane would probably be the axe murderer.
I love that Park swan moment. It doesn't really TRY to scare you -- it just turns around and glares at you like it wants to say "Yo, lady, don't you have a kid to be looking for instead of riding all the rides?"
The sad thing about the Slenderman games is that predicting the next jumpscare is like predicting the next direction of a turn in a Nascar race. Or... Not. Props to the Zombie Child for that one.
For anyone rewatching this and scrolling through the comments for some reason, look at Mike's change of expressions from 19:06 onward. The end is my favorite.
Andy is a man after my own heart here. I scream like a baby at horror in general and even jumped at a few of these scare(s). "Charitably lose my shit," yes definitely.
I remember that pipes screensaver! It was my favorite along with the rainbow spike box, the rainbow wires and the stars flying at the screen (sometimes with eyes).
Andy completely losing his shit around the 21:00 minute mark is the best bit of this. Also the fact I'd be even more freaked out is the reason I don't play horror games.
"The Pheasant is the least scary bird." Try telling that to 4 year old me when I came downstairs one morning to see a freshly killed pheasant hanging upside down in the kitchen doorway.
watching this really reminds me how unintrested Mike was throughout all this horror games, which is why you guys should do a segement in which Andy and Mike are forced to play through ervery scary and terrifying horror games and best part would be is if Andy is duck taped to a chair and forced to watch and play through every scary part without being able to move.
I want a horror game where you basically are in a party of emotionless terminators that never get rattled and they mock your feeble human fear response while calmly blasting horrific monsters that you can do nothing about.
I think the alien isolation heart rate video taught us that even when mike is scared he doesn't show it on his face, so he maybe isn't quite as much of a robot as he seems
Mike screaming like a girl is my absolute favorite thing ever :) Just, seriously. It makes my day. Mostly because that's how I play every video game... even when it's not scary. So pansies unite! But very slowly and cautiously so we don't scare each other!
OxBox fear rankings:
Andy- Freaks out like he`s gonna die.
Jane- jumps a little and giggles afterwards
mike- What jumpscare?
MIKE DON'T TAKE NO SHIT.
Hmmm.
Their horror game skills are directly opposite to their stealth skills
Game: presents jumpscare
Mike: No reaction
Andy: Screams at the top of his lungs
Mike: screams
I love that Andy is jumpscared by the footage of himself playing the game
Jumpscare-ception
I love in the first jumpscare when the baby body came out, you could hear the worry in his voice:
"Oh no.....theres a......baby corpse."
@@gremlinwc8996 one of his reactions sounded like he was mirroring the recorded reaction of him, which is definitely a first
oh Andy
Markiplier jacksepticeye ah and everyone even h20 should play the park. That horror game.
I think Mike just isn't scared anymore due to the horrors he's witnessed at the Oxbox studio.
True, at least in the game it can't harm you O.o
splorp Why the do we even have this head high cheese wire
Nicholas Avasthi Andy has a phobia of head high cheese. it's a safety precaution
it's almost as if the outsidexbox group doesn't spend most of their day binge watching old outsidexbox videos, strange.
vetzal
They should click on those boxes that are next to them. If we click on them, the least they could do is click them as well.
OverEnglishMan oh. Hi there English. Didn't know you watched outside Xbox.
This is the only acceptable way for me to view horror, having the jumps telegraphed and a nice discussion to get me prepared.

And finally Jane to be an Evil Genius because...well I don't really need to explain that one because she shows evidence of that every week.
Remember when they hooked Mike to a heart monitor to play Alien Isolation and his biggest jump in BPM was finding the flamethrower?
Where can I find those Alien Isolation vids?
James Moore by typing in "outside box alien isolation"
Yeah, that was kind of a dumb question...
But Jane wouldn't even be wearing a costume if she dressed as an Evil Genius, silly. The whole point of Halloween is to be something different than yourself!
Maybe those fear reflexes are why Mike and Andy approach stealth the ways they do: they're not/ afraid of combat respectively!
Roonco SP Apart from when it involves killing dOgs in Blacklist
Yes, Mike is like a terminator, wading in with no fear of bodily (or mental) harm :P
I wish there were more psychological horror style games that are more slow-burn/creepy than just jump scares. I don't find jump scares horrifying, just startling, and it's just not the same feeling as that sense of dread, horror and general unease that comes from well-crafted horror.

Andrew Wowk Well put, I agree with you.
Andrew Wowk layers of fear would be a good play for you then. There are a couple jump scare type things but for the most part it is just the descent into utter madness
doki doki ?
Andy are you OK? So, Andy are you OK? Are you OK Andy? You've been hit by...you've been struck by...a smooth criminal...
well played
Andy, I FULLY understand your pain. Even if I open a door in a horror game and nothing happens, I still scream like a maniac.
Andy's fear singing is one of my favorite things. It makes any tense situation 1000 times better.
A 21 minute Oxbox list? When Halloween feels like Christmas :D
The Misadventures of Chuck Lonestar Happy Halloweenmas
i agree
The Misadventures of Chuck Lonestar I got the rings ad for this video lmao
The Misadventures of Chuck Lonestar I
Andy getting scared again by these games. I guess we know who the fearless alpha is in the Oxbox crew is. Congrats Jane!
Bill Smith jane? it's mike who doesn't give a damn about the "scary" parts.
Mike is the guy without the beard right if you watched the face cam he's Never scared
guys he's joking about that
Andy.Its fine being scared...legit I'm always scared!
That's my secret, Captain...
I get startled really easy but creepy thing are fine
outsidexbox I GOT THAT REFERENCE!
Munreise Johal do you have anxiety?
Nikson and I got *that* reference
7:12 as someone who has wild pheasants on their farm, I have to say they are the MOST scary bird, they are the king of jump scares. Clearly close descendents of velociraptors.
*Laughs in 12-gauge birdshot*
Quail do the same thing, here in the States. You'll be walking through the woods and all of a sudden about eight of the things burst up out of the brush in front of you
You guys definitely need to stock up on some garlic and stakes, I've got a hunch that Mike's a vampire and that's why he's never scared.
Its probably Jane's fault anyways.
Jane's probably the head vampire. It's Andy that's in real danger.
Probably why he's so scared all the time
wait wait wait. I know I'm late to the party here but...
1. One of the old SoTW videos heavily implied that Mike wasn't human, but a robot.
2. In one of the lists on OXtra, Luke said something that offhandedly called Mike a robot.
3. EVERY SINGLE HORROR LETSPLAY ON THIS CHANNEL
4. In this video, Mike actually _explicitly states_ that he is a robot.
Yeah, it's officially canon, Mike is a robot. In case anyone wasn't 100% certain.
Homestuck Obsessor im also late but...
O MY GAWD
All RUclipsrs named Mike are robots. Hell, look at Michael Swaim.
And you thought you were late, lol. I'm just now gettting to this revelation. XD
I'm late by a year but...
HOLY *CENCORED* JESUS
I am later that that as well...
Oh my GAWD!
Also, wasn't he a ghost at some stage too? Are ghost robots a thing? He's a great youtuber regardless!
Did Mike grow up in an irradiated wasteland? Is that why he thinks badgers look like that?
And why nothing is scary to him. We've found the answer!
Roguery
it all makes sense now
B-but badger's don't exist in Fallout.
+NanaRage I literally just got the notification for your reply *now*. Thanks, RUclips.
Would also explain his obsession with explosions
I can't decide whether Andy's reaction to the book monster or the skeleton kid is funnier.
LOL! I love that Andy is so susceptible to jump scares.
''ooh! that's one of those crab things that explodes"
Mike's commentary is brilliant 😂😂 -
I wonna go down stairs and make a cup of tea but i dunno if i've got the bollocks to brave an empty house on my own
single-storey house ftw
Sableagle Maybe Jesus yells some really generic name, like "John Smith!"
Don't be silly. Everyone knows when Jesus is scared he yells "Chuck Norris"
Jesus Christ your Jesus magic up something
i can't, i can only turn water into wine can't turn water into tea without a kettle and a tea bag
I can't wait for Ellen and Luke from Oxtra to do some horror. Ellen acts tough but I bet she will be the Oxtra version of Andy.
I want that because it will include Until Dawn.
I think she would be too. But she could also be fine as long as spiders aren't involved.
Catherine McPherson Nope, she's a slightly toned down Andy.
She's more like a Jane. I mean, I haven't seen a lot of spiders in horror games.
Okay, she'd probably be a certified Andy if they ever show up
From what I understand about Ellen from "Games That Scared Us So Badly We Had To Stop Playing Them" (I'm probably remembering that title wrong/too long) Ellen just parked poor Amanda Ripley in a completely black room on standby mode forever waiting for her to come back. So maybe not fear singing level, but yelping at stuff and jumping for sure. And a lot of "oh, no no no no no no… but… but Luke… nooooo." Not wanting to open a door into whatever horrors lie beyond.
I'm not sure the fact I'm getting better at being here early is a good sign...
Tyler Durden Well, considering you have a split personality, I think spending too much time on RUclips is the least of your problems lol.
Tyler Durden U aint even real bruh
I am jack's deep regret for picking an obvious reference as a username
Simen Indal The Black Swordsman is always real.
Tyler Durden I just my real name like the boring shitlord that I am.
Swans ARE evil. I got bitten by one when I was four, and I have never forgiven them.
Big mood
nobody will get this reference but what about BLACK SWANS
I've never owned an xbox in my life, but Andy, Jane, and Mike are just that entertaining.
huh...Maybe the reason Mick likes cars so much is because he's a robot, and he feels a connection.
for andy to have a fight or flight reflex he'd need to have the fight part
The fight reflex is when he hurls the controller att the tv, and then they don't have a clip to show?
A child scream/cry for help while slender man killing him and Mike's only comment is"there is nothing scary about it"..... Mike is a robot.
So we know James likes dubstep
That much closer
You might even say one "dubstep" closer
To what? Kidnapping James, usurping his identity and spending your days filming outsidexbox? ...Forget I just said that...
+Szceith fuck you mean other people have thought of that already? That's a years planning down the drain
Not if you beat him to it!
Lawrence Shammas PUNS. (I love puns)
I came across this video again for the first time in years, and I totally missed the first time around that Andy mention's the amen break. What a legend.
Come on, Bookmonster, don't you know _anything_ about how to take care of books? Forming into a monster the way you did ruins the binding!
+Dust If they're all booked it will be in a real bind...
+Szceith But how does it _cover_ the expenses?
But the E-book monster would avoid damage to actual books, but only consist of one floating tablet.
Grow a spine!
This video has many layers
like an onion...or an ogre
Or a cake! everybody loves cake! Cakes have layers.
Ogres have layers
NessaWyvern No Donkey! Onions! They have layers!
Hey, you know what everybody likes? Parfee!
Who turned on the blood sprinklers? I think a more important question is, who made the blood sprinklers JANE?!
well the sprinklers are creepy but if someone turned them on that means that you are most likely in danger so you would want to solve that before investigating their origin
Andy, love the line where you say "charitably lose your shit", humour is definitely your strong point.
It's raining blood, HALLELUJAH, its rai... what do you mean, no? Fine...
The guy banging his head against a wall in Dead Space completely freaked me out. That was really fucked up 😱
Mike doesn't remember horror because he's never scared, it's just another Thursday for him, being around Jane and all.
It's a video with a bunch of horror game footage. Guess I have to put my brightness all the way up.
I think I'll just turn mine all the way down so I can't see anything at all
"It's weird, there's nothing especially scary about that."- Mike's take on horror games.
I love that Park swan moment. It doesn't really TRY to scare you -- it just turns around and glares at you like it wants to say "Yo, lady, don't you have a kid to be looking for instead of riding all the rides?"
The most accurate answer I've heard is when Mike said "Andy scream probably a lot" at 12:39. Never been more accurate.
I should not have watched this right before bed. (I fall firmly on the Andy end of the scaredy pants spectrum.) 😝
LaterKater after watching so much fnaf gameplay im on the mike end
fnaf isn't scary tho
LOLILIQUIDATOR69
im saying the jumpscares happen so frequently that i am now immune
ThePennilessGamer
Oh okay good. I thought you meant being immune to fnaf was supposed to be impressive or something
LOLILIQUIDATOR69 ya no fnaf is garbage but the amount of jumpscares is good training for getting used to jumpscares
"A pheasant is the least scary of all birds"
Mike: `She really went to pieces.' I love the little comments that you guys say quietly
The Consequence was one of the best horror experiences I've ever had - it felt like everything the base game of TEW should have been
The sad thing about the Slenderman games is that predicting the next jumpscare is like predicting the next direction of a turn in a Nascar race.
Or...
Daaahhh, ambulance driver! - not a reaction you will hear very often in life
Lost it on book voltron!
T Skelton I came down here to comment on that. Is it a hearthstone joke lmao?
I think Bookmonster is in my top five Outside Xbox moments...
I DEMAND WE SEE CAMERAMAN JAMES!
Red Baron aka James.. Good try.
he did a series on state of decay a couple years back. It's on this channel
Red Baron Well looks like you finally got your wish
I remember that pipes screensaver! It was my favorite along with the rainbow spike box, the rainbow wires and the stars flying at the screen (sometimes with eyes).
~ cracking up ~ "And now we're in the murder basement." Love it.
I haven't finished Layers of Fear but it did give me a pavlovian response to seeing 1-point perspective
I don't have notifications or anything but im here like 30 mins after the upload kinda early squad???
Voer comer Hola kind of early squad!
Andy completely losing his shit around the 21:00 minute mark is the best bit of this. Also the fact I'd be even more freaked out is the reason I don't play horror games.
"The Pheasant is the least scary bird." Try telling that to 4 year old me when I came downstairs one morning to see a freshly killed pheasant hanging upside down in the kitchen doorway.
watching this really reminds me how unintrested Mike was throughout all this horror games, which is why you guys should do a segement in which Andy and Mike are forced to play through ervery scary and terrifying horror games and best part would be is if Andy is duck taped to a chair and forced to watch and play through every scary part without being able to move.
thats pretty cruel and probably breaking some laws?
+CactusZone Yeah it is but, it would be funny and we all know that Andy "LOVES" to entertain us, his "FANS". Muhahahahahahaha!
Duct tape. no one tapes ducks.
The auto captions write 'swan' as 's1' and I will never be over that.
I love their "What happened next vids,".
"The swan turns around to look at me aaand.. I think that's the whole horror; being looked at by a swan."
The least scary of all birds is the kiwi. They're just little flightless fluffballs
I like the kind of kiwi you can cut in half and eat. Oh yeah and the fruit though.
I like the kind of kiwi you can cut in half and eat. Oh yeah and the fruit though.
I'm looking forward to see something like this when a good VR horror game comes out...
I find it disturbing that in too many of those clips Jane is like "Yeah, that's a good idea, why haven't I thought of that?"
I'm glad you guys aren't the type to have last minute jump scares at the end of horror-related videos.
Please don't do that.
Hold on "That's more child screaming than I like". Is there a certain amount you prefer Jane?
Who else rewinds to rewatch the reaction shots?
"all the books form up into a like book Voltron"
-quote of the year
With Jane constantly trying to take over the world, I think you sort of have to be ready for horror at any second.
I swear Jane is always the moderator in these contests- Jane: show us your skills!
Wait, is Mike an actual robot built by Jane for taking over the world?
Jane: "Now what's a good personality to program into my robot?... Ooh, I know! I'll make him Andy, but the exact opposite! lol
That's why his hitman playthroughs are explosion, chaos and carnage heavy.
"Come at me, horror." Laughed so hard at that.
when scary video's only seem to pop up when its late...
The pheasant is actually a scary bird, once when I was 10, one attacked me. That lead to my fear of large birds.
20:31 Was genius by Mike xD. Andy's little jump too cute
"I think you could charitably say I lose my shit." That's one of my favorite Andy quotes ever lol
"Book Voltron" The best thing I've heard all day.
Slender is the opposite of the angels from doctor who
I want a horror game where you basically are in a party of emotionless terminators that never get rattled and they mock your feeble human fear response while calmly blasting horrific monsters that you can do nothing about.
Andy, you don't need a light saber to protect yourself from storm troopers, you can just stand still and they'll miss you.
Andys scare reflexes=new Broadway musical
Andy on number 17 was thee best reaction of all time. You can literally feel the fear in his voice. lmao
I'm starting to feel like the crew is mostly got scared by Andy's scream
Andy is so cute when he jumps LOL
I think the alien isolation heart rate video taught us that even when mike is scared he doesn't show it on his face, so he maybe isn't quite as much of a robot as he seems
Is Mike a Terminator? He has no fear. He blows things up. He occasionally dies in show of the week, but always comes back. Just like Arnie!
Okay, Andy remembered the fact that it was the ambulance driver, full point.
Poor Andy.... not only getting freaked out the first time but having to relive it to
My favourite part of Oxbox playing horror games is the way Andy demands "Why? WHY?" when terrible things happen.
It seems like Andy is always the winner.
Yeah, now that you mention it
Hans Bass He should probably play the lottery or something.
competitive player, just like rob from ps access. Still, mike's short playthrough of dishonored 2 was more satisfying.
Mike screaming like a girl is my absolute favorite thing ever :) Just, seriously. It makes my day. Mostly because that's how I play every video game... even when it's not scary. So pansies unite! But very slowly and cautiously so we don't scare each other!
i swear the loud jump/screams are done on purpose to scare the other two! LMAO
Mike was sitting with a poker face at most of the time... But I saw him flinch in number 14!
This nostalgic video makes me feel emotions
Andy is so cute when he smiles ^^
